Evasion tanks are just asking to get burst to hell before you know what happened. The point of a tank isn't just mitigate, its primary purpose is SURVIVE.
Ergo, even if that evasion tank has, on paper, better over time mitigation and dodges like 99/100 hits, if that hundredth hit kills it, while the armor tank gets hit for more damage but is never in any danger of being killed, the Evasion tank is a shit tank.
its why no one goes full Evasion in POE without something like lightning coil to cheese a crapton of mitigation to go along with it, or why most "workable" evasion tanks have stupidly high Health pools (To the point of almost having double an armor tanks HP) to avoid burst.

There are the of the typical mage types like Renne, Kloe, Emma, and Tio but overall the series is really good at diversifying character types and keeping out of the typical JRPG tropes for character classes. Hell in the 3rd Kevin is the more magic oriented character compared to Ries who is a fucking nun the character you would completely expect to just be a white mage in any other game.
