How could the industry return to sixth generation greatness?

How could the industry return to sixth generation greatness?

No MTX, better games that aren't movies, BC on all consoles, no unfinished games

By making games with minimal graphics. Games these days have too much shaders and polygons, everything looks blurry.

I hate when devs put graphics over gameplay.

there are barely any games of that generation worth playing today though

Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Devil May Cry, MGS2-3, GoW 1-2, SotC, GTA 3, VC and SA, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, PM TTYD, SSB Melee, Metroid Prime 1-2, Fable, KOTOR
Best generation of all time

Why go back? They are accessible as ever and the games very cheap (for now). The library of PS2 games alone would fill a lifetime

Brievik's greatest crime was complaining about "only" being allowed a PS2.

Most of those games are style-over-substance mediocre crap. The amount of shitty 3d platformers with god awful controls and shitty cameras in that era was overwhelming.

Never going to happen again. Industry is now worth well over 100 billion dollars and online has largely ruined it forever.

you forgot twisted metal black

I'd love to get my hands on some of those devkits.

The only way that could happen is if mobile gaming completely disipeared

Me too, user. Me too.

Well I do have a few, I have two PSP units and a Nintendo DSlite unit.

You mean everything looks busy and noisy

we can't, Nintendo ruined videogames with gimmicks and western developers killed it with gray-colored generic action games

Games being sold physical only is by far the best environment for good games to be made. The more popular digital distribution becomes, the worse gaming gets

Anything interesting on them? I always thought the xbox dev kits had neat stuff on it.

PSP test tool came with a prototype version of crazy taxi 1&2, and a test umd, dev tool came with a test umd as well, I actually never turned the dev tool on, but i don't think you can actually save anything on the devices themselves.
The DS one is a testing tool as well, with double AV output, so nothing on there.

I had an xbox kit. Gutted it and used the tower for a sweet gaming rig!

>Was the last gen that balanced graphics and gameplay
>devs we're not as afraid to take risks
>seemed like endless game releases compared to the drought that is 8th gen and a sea of indie shit
>cinematic scenes added more depth to stories instead of being part of the core function of the game
>no day one patches
>no 5 minute boot up or power down time
>updates were done on discs and were small
>games didn't need online to sell

I don't think its possible

Id pay out the ass for a gamecube or ps2 devkit those look comfy as fuck

>power down time
Is this a thing

>Most of those games are style-over-substance mediocre crap.
You could say the same about this generation.

slice western game dev teams/budgets in half

Turning off the OG Xbox One legit takes 30 seconds or so.

Red rings of death were heat-related so it's understandable.

Fuck yea mate

a video game industry crash, and a rebirth
that's how it was saved in the 90's.
lot of parallels between the pre crash of the 83' and what we have today.

>cousin has ps4
>takes minutes to boot down
>if you unplug it the system shits itself

>xbox is just as slow

that's because nuconsoles aren't meant to be shut down, but in a low power sleeping state.
