Executive order was signed to protect free speech on college campuses. How long before we get protections for game devs not to censor themselves out of fear/backlash from a few snowflakes on the internet.. ?

I'd fucking love a law that stops shitty localization companies from censoring foreign games because they dislike the message and consider it "problematic".

The government will do the opposite. They love the gratification of violence, but get triggered by sex. This country are filled with Puritans.

republifags get bullied at school then cry to this fat retard to make it stop while calling other people snowflakes

>say you don't like what somebody did
>get sent to jail
>americans call this "freedom"
Yikes!

its called the first amendment

>How long before we get protections for game devs not to censor themselves out of fear/backlash from a few snowflakes on the internet.. ?
That's not how freedom of speech works.

>i dont like this therefore it should be illegal
sounds reasonable

you have to be really dumb to thing the recent cases of censorship in video games, like the ones done by Sony, are caused by "puritans"

Why is it done then?

>I don't like the violation of the basic human right of expression
Therefore it should be illegal. Just like killing people is illegal so should censoring them be.

>get a safe space on campus for your left retardation
>anyone who isn't a part of it you circle with 50 people
>then jump and beat the shit out of them
>campus turns a blind eye
This is why it's going into place. Because unlike the right, the left are a bunch of faggots who won't do anything alone and won't stand for anything alone.

um actually sweetie freedom of speech means that people shouldn't be allowed to critisize me

>rally for free speech
>except for people who are against me
lol.
Free speech is universal, friend. All it guarantees is protection against legal repercussions.

Social agendas. Horseshoe theory is real.

But they aren't stopping the game from being made, they're making their own version.

They're butchering it to push their own agenda. Stop being obtuse. You know what it is.

Actually, conservatives are systematically excluded from positions of power on college campuses, which are publicly funded. If you want the freedom to exclude people, maybe you should start going without their money. :^)

Social agendas to appease who?

yes it is

Many college campuses have been blocking either left or right views on their campus. This would evaluate all and if they do it to either side they lose all of their federal funding support and go under. It was mainly put in place because left leaning school kept having physical violence against right leaning members. Much of it being assault from a student on a guest.

>All it guarantees is protection against legal repercussions.
That's good enough, as long as writers and game designers, don't have to self censor and live in fear of not having a job.

Then play the original version? It's their game, they should be allowed to do what they want with it.

>Many college campuses have been blocking either left or right views on their campus.

public colleges? that is extremely fucking illegal and im going to need a source

No. They are free to port their game to any other platform. Why should a company have to comply with your standards so you can put your game on their console? Less regulation, more alternatives.

Themselves. They don't like anime titties so they're going to try and get rid of it in any way they can. While they legally can't push for anything to be censored, as it's a violation of free speech, they can do it as much as they want in the private sector. Using a popular gaming platform as a allegorical sacrificial goat is a perfect means of doing it.

No it isn't.
>censor your free speech so my feelings don't get hurt
okay snowflake.

Yeah. I agree. Schools can push whatever idea they want as long as they don't receive government money.

And I'd be happy if a law prevented them from doing what they want with it.

>Why should a company have to comply with your standards so you can put your game on their console?
Because they keep fucking us over and butchering games to forward their own agendas and I don't like that.

That is the entire reason this shit is happening. Because those assaults recently on conservative students and public members having to either cancel rallies or get police at the locaitons.

I hate linking shitty fox news.

foxnews.com/politics/trump-signs-executive-order-to-promote-free-speech-on-college-campuses

That's very authoritarian, you want the government to take away someone's rights because you don't like what they're doing.

Then don't buy them. Support games that aren't censored and use your powers granted by the freedom of speech to complain. I want the government to fuck off out of my video games as much as possible.

>public colleges? that is extremely fucking illegal and im going to need a source
The fact that Democrats make up an obscene amount of faculty (a much higher percentage than they historically did, before you start crowing about 'truth has a liberal bias') is evidence that the system is privileging them and excluding voices that would challenge them.

assault is already illegal, free speech is guaranteed, what is this order supposed to do?

the government should make it illegal to call someone on Yea Forums a faggot because I don't like it when user calls me a faggot

faggot

That if a public college or university is found out to have these incidents happen and the school doesn't step in. Or if the school has been shutting down or blocking either left or right views on campus, clubs, memberships or other shit. Then they are reviewed and can lose federal funding.

>free speech is guaranteed
What good does that do a conservative speaker the next time Antifa shows up and violently protests one of their rallies and the police are ordered to stand down?

Someones rights to oppress other people, yes.
Do you want people to be free to steal and kill as well as censor?

This option is less than ideal for me.
I don't want regulation either but if people keep censoring games I must ask for it.
Ideally they would self-regulate and endeavour to protect free expression.

>1960's
>UC Berkeley is basically ground zero of the civil rights movement, and goes out of its way to give people a place to say their piece
>2010 onwards
>every speaker that can even be considered right wing gets their events cancelled because of leftwing faggots crying about their safe space
Eat shit.

What was the point? State Colleges have to abide by the first amendment anyway? If this applies to private colleges too then this is government intrusion.

You aren't following my argument, I'm for compulsory free speech, ironically suggesting I want to censor you is retarded.
I welcome you calling me a faggot.

Artist?

>State Colleges have to abide by the first amendment anyway?
Yeah, but right wingers are systematically excluded, which is kinda fucked up because they contribute to taxes that fund these colleges.

No one is oppressing anyone. They get a contract for the game, they sign it and then they release it. It's not like Sony is forcing people to make censored games. They are free to release them wherever. They are allowing themselves to be censored. The government getting involved would ruin the whole point of the ESRB and every game would be censored. Fuck that.
You're a genuine retard, friend.

>you should be forced to not allow people to alter something you own
Sure sounds like the opposite of free speech.

and CEOs of companies skew heavily republican, certain industries/jobs attract certain mindsets and its not evidence of exclusion

>these people are a minority in this field therefore they are being deliberately excluded
I swear i've heard this before...hm...

but thats already the case without this order

It's actually not.

it actually is, and a presidential executive order has no affect on how funds are allocated

We need the Anita's of the world to not have a platform to introduce marxist/virtue signaling ideologies in video games. It goes against the nature of self expression and everything it stands for.

>and CEOs of companies skew heavily republican
Do they? I'd like to see the evidence for this. Certain really big and powerful companies, especially tech companies, seem to advocate hard for progressive cultural stuff. Besides which, most companies aren't publicly funded.

If we can (and we do) talk about how women are marginalized and people of color are marginalized based on their rate of participation in certain systems, we can extend that conversation to politics.

Right wingers are systemically excluded from academia.

>They aren't forcing people to censor they just hold a monopoly on the market and are forcing them to censor with no other options
What the fuck IS the point of the ESRB when games get censored anyway?
Who cares if kids are gambling in lootbox casinos but heaven forbid they see an anime tiddy.
They are forcing censorship and no matter how you try and justify it doesn't change that.

Cutting a deal doesn't entitle you to shit on an artists work. To take what they said and make it something else. Asking nicely for people not to censor hasn't worked. It's time to force the issue. Compulsory free speech. If people change what someone else said, punish them.

Literally does cover it, especially grants.

politico.com/story/2019/03/21/trump-free-speech-college-1286517

Deal faggot libtard. Hope your school gets shutdown.

That's why you're not president lol

Yeah, lots of people in publicly funded colleges talk about how its evidence of systemic bigotry/privilege, right?

>sign a contract
>have to follow that contract
WOOOOOW HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT FUCKING BUGGED CONTRACT MECHANICS

>Trump literally sings an executive order to stop liberals from bullying conservatives
I can't even lel.

Attached: 9653172.jpg (900x900, 68K)

Yes it is.
The reason why there's an issue in the first place is because public universities cannot refuse any speakers invited properly by the student body, which led conservative student groups to invite guys like Milo and Ann Coulter just to drum up controversy.

>Cutting a deal doesn't entitle you to shit on an artists work
Actually it does. What did they willingly let their game be censored if they didn't want it to be censored? Why did they allow the localization company to censor it if they didn't want it censored?

Sounds like censorship to me.

They are free to release the game on their own platform. Like I said. It's not a surprise when a game gets censored. It's not like Sony is stealing games from devs and then releasing censored ports of it. The devs sign a contract, Sony is free to alter it and if they refuse they lose the rights to publish the game on that system. No one has a gun to the developers head regarding this.
It's retarded, but the beauty of the free market allows you to not buy it if you don't like it, or buy it if you do.

Nah, it's just the basic principle that it's kinda evil to take people's money for a public institution if you're gonna marginalize them. It's just about not being a shitty person, y'know?

No, before the campus had to support free speech , now they have to prove that they are involved with promoting it and not just allowing it. HUGE fucking difference dipshit.

>sign a contract
>get shot if you don't
>"Hey you agreed to the contract, it's fair"
I just want to protect freedom.
They should not WANT to censor games.
Who's harmed if I prevent them?
