As mentioned before, the face parts are special and Hrothgar has big differences between its faces, like a lion face, wolf face, leopard face. It became a fixed model relatively recently. Viera was done right before Paris Fan Fest, and Hrothgar was done recently.

So they just finished them recently. More than likely 6.0 will have the other genders.

I currently have SAM at 67, DRG at 52, BLM at 61, WAR at 51 and DRK at 48 because I'm an indecisive fuck. All I know is that I'm rolling a qt Viera as soon as it drops.

Other than that I think I'm gonna stick with SAM, it's fun.

That being said damn does this game get more complex at high levels. After playing BFA and needing like 6-7 binds per character I find myself needing like 20 for SAM.

You will need more than 20 binds for SAM.
A lot of those moves you'll really only get value out of in Savage raids but you should get comfortable with this many binds.

Q: With the two new races' unique heads, how will their headgear work?

A: It won't be displayed, because those face parts wouldn't work in FFXIV's system if headgear were involved. Even Viera ears would've had to be moved down to where Miqo'te ears are. It would've been meaningless if you couldn't go all-out creating characters from these new races, so we decided that helmets wouldn't be necessary. You can equip them, but they won't be displayed. However, things that replace the head are OK, like the snowman head, fat chocobo head, etc. No glasses. Basically, the default is that it won't be shown, and only things that replace the head are ok. We'll make more things compatible over time, bit by bit, but they won't be compatible at launch.

Focus on relearning your class first. After that plow through MSQ. If you ever get to a point where you need more ilvl you can buy a lot of the 380 gear for pretty cheap (depended by your server) If they are to much you can always unlock Rabanastre/Lighthouse and spam those as well for more ilvl. To be ready for the expansion all you need is the story completed. After that just do some dungeons and primals you haven't done yet and just get used to doing mechanics again. Gl user!

They're never going to add the missing genders. It's apparent from the interviews that the main reason they did the gender lock is because they really truly believe that it is impossible for them to add any more races after this. Each new race multiplies their workload with regards to adding gear, and they believe they've reached their capacity. With only one chance they wanted to add something different so they went with genderlocks to get two distinct races in. If they thought they could add the missing genders later on anyway, they would have just done male/female of either Viera or Hrothgar and then implemented the other race in a future expansion.

The problem was that they completely gutted SCH in 4.0 and had to spend several patches bringing them back in line. If they had used SCH as the baseline they could have brought WHM up. SCH literally had the worst healing, the highest mp costs, and the worst damage. Their shields were worse than AST and more expensive.

as long as you put in some effort into using non-shit features and don't max out the height elezen look fine, it's just that people can't be fucked to spend more than a minute in the character creator and would rather just use random features and two-coloured eyes and whatnot

That level 50 DRK quest was 10/10

SCH needed adjustments after 4.0 dropped, that is undeniable, but the problem was after 4.1, when they adjust much of their kit, making their healing cost less and their shields stronger, they kept going, even patch from 4.1 to 4.4 buffed SCH in some way, with WHM barely getting anything, the most WHM got was enmity reduction and making plenary less shit
SCH would still be a really good healer even without the near constant buffing, healer balance is fickle, but their biggest problem is that SCH is always the best healer and WHM is always the worst, their solution to this is to keep buffing SCH and give very small buffs to WHM, if any at all.
tl:dr, the dev team fucking sucks at balancing healers because fuck WHM

That doesn't mean they can't make additions to current races, and adding the two other genders isn't specifically adding new races.
And adding in half-breeds that tack on elements from one race onto another race's skeleton (Think Hilda) wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility either, and a very easy way to get players hyped in a future expansion without doing as much work as a whole new race.

Honestly all I was looking forward towards was a possible shakeup of the game's design with some actual growth being shown off but all that was shown seems to be more of the same with rehashing and rushed products. 2 of the big 3 features in of themselves feel like QoL you add during the middle of an expansion since they hold little significance to the growth of content as a whole.

Then the loss of Male Viera and Female Hrothgar is a shame, on top of Hrothgar in of itself looking like the most rushed race I have ever seen. The official art for them makes them look so great and probably one of those races you'd love to see tanking in your static but the lack of work on their gear and the shitty textures just kills it.

Not having models for male Viera/female Hrothgar means that any time it would make sense for one of those to be somewhere, they have to come up with a bullshit excuse for why they're not there and/or add a different NPC that is potentially less interesting. It unnecessarily ties the story maker's hands.

There are four body models used in this game, (Lalafel(shared), Male Roegadyn, Male everything else, and Female everything else) and they just use an in-game scaling parameter to adjust it across races for their different proportions, and further differentiate how they look via the posture of their rigs. We know this for a matter of fact due to modding.

For most gloves, boots, and headgear the male/female distinction is not even used and they just use the same model for both, so in a lot of cases it's just 3. Female Vierra will almost certainly use the all-female rig, and the hrothgar will use male roegadyn, it literally is 0% more work to do gear for them since they aren't going to adjust helmets.

I just bought a couple of fantasias and played around with those, only made an alt to play with a friend on another server but our servers will be on the same data center after the change so I will probs just delete it.
