I like it

How's it better? Haven't tried.

It's boring. The areas suck, the enemies have no variety, and the weapons are lame.

The money streak bonus is extremely great design though

Combat is far more dynamic and more involved, giving the player more control while making it more difficult. Literally the Guitar Hero of souls-likes.

>less than a half dozen bosses
>majority of the game's level design is uninteresting sci-fi industrial areas
>less weapon variety
>less enemy variety
>worse music by a large margin
>smaller package overall but still has a higher proportion of filler
>worse combat encounter design

Dark Souls bored me from start to end with the but The Surge was way fucking worse and I regret listening to my friend when he said it had more dynamic combat mechanics.

I'm interested in this game, but is it actually good? Lords of the Fallen was kinda shit.

No, it's the same bullshit except the framerate isn't constantly below 30

BUT DEEP INSIDE YOU KNOW THERE MUST BE MORE

>less than a half dozen bosses
Yes, but those bosses are more involved than your typical DS boss. They have limbs that can be damaged and multiple phases.

>majority of the game's level design is uninteresting sci-fi industrial areas
Personal opinion. Majority of Dark Souls is "uninteresting ruined medieval areas."

>Less weapon variety
The combat mechanics are more involved than Dark Souls, so it's to be expected.

>Less enemy variety
The enemies are more dynamic and typically more unique where-as a lot of Dark Souls enemies are similar in both function and strategy to one another, while you have to shift your strategies from enemy to enemy, who all have larger move-sets than standard enemies in Dark Souls.

>worse music by a large margin
The music in Dark Souls is instantly forgettable and almost not even a factor, so not even sure where this is coming from.

>smaller package but still has a higher proportion of filler
It also didn't cost as much as Dark Souls. It launched for like, 40$? Or was it 30?

>worse combat encounter design
Significantly better combat design actually. You're less likely to be surprised by enemies, which give you a chance of recognizing and analyzing threats before most encounters.

Now explain it again without reading like the back of a game case

I liked the attack patterns on most weapons, but the environment was pretty boring imo, also way too few bosses.
Its solid, but The Surge 2 could be a GOAT if they improve on the first one.

Fuck off shill

Limb damage, the ability to block and dodge roll or dodge by ducking or hopping, as well as instant dodge counters, along with a slide and leap variant attacks for each of those all offer greater versatility and control in combat but only for someone who's become more skilled at the games mechanics. There's more, but it basically sacrifices variety for deeper mechanics.

wut about me?

good core gameplay, medicore to bad everything else. hope for a sequel though

Glad we'll be able to customize the character in Surge 2

I love the Surge. It’s my fav Neil Blomkampf game.

How long have you been using Yea Forums to write replies today? Step back

Just started this for the first time because I literally completed Sekiro in less than a day. Its pretty good and I'll play the second.
