I'll ask it here. Looking for some good and lengthy 2D action on my new Switch, Blaster Master, Gunvolt, and the first legacy collection caught my eye, but which is the best to go with? Only played X1 and X4, played the first Gunvolt when it first came out but only got the bad end. Never played Blaster Master ever.

I cant really help much on that front, But BMZ 1 and 2 wont let ya down. But BMZ 1 is shorter then 2 is.

Didn't played much but it pretty much Zero with improvements, new counter mechanics is nice.

Games are 10 dollars, Eve has as much screentime as you want. Because you can talk to her at anytime.

She is important to the story so quite a bit. You can also talk to her whenever you want too.

A lot.You can even talk to her whenever you want to to get extra lore and info on your equipment. 10 bucks each IIRC.

One of the things that I didnt like is. The more subweapon gauge you collect. The longer it takes for it to charge if you deplete it. Sure I get it, but just filling the first bar should be enough.

Yes, the Zero line revitalizes the series in a way that all the other lackluster sequels did not. Inti Creates definitely knew what they were doing, and it's not just the Kanna fad that's getting people talking (although it certainly helps).

How do I git gud at countering? I feel like the biggest brainlet whenever playing this game, usually winning boss battles by the skin of my teeth after several attempts.

It seems more like the Zero games are not directly connected to any past Blaster Master title, but instead takes elements from all the games and conflicting storylines and consolidates them into one coherent canon.

When a reticle shows up on a boss, counter. Thats it. The window might be small for some but keep an eye out for it.

Literally just beat 02 and am watching the credits. Pure kino throughout except the planet Divido and some true ending backtracking. Hoping there’s some replay value like using the other characters tanks. If not then hopefully they’ll do free DLC again like the first game.

Really, all Inti games are short. I'd say the average game is an hour and a half long, maybe two hours tops, and that's if you're going for 100% completion. Take that away and they barely clock in at an hour.

I was a little surprised there were only three blaster options for the tank... and most of the upgrades this time were to the subweapons instead of mobility upgrades.

As cool as the concept of SOPHIA/NORA is the games always kind of treat the tank platforming second to the on-foot sections, even though BMZ2 made a pretty solid effort to change that. Still, while they gave the tank actual fights and more love they went even further with the on-foot sections. I'd like a more complete balance out of a BMZ3

The "rainbow gun" as my friends and I called it on the NES version was just broken and stupidly overpowered in all scenarios. The level 8 gun in BMZ2 is super weak in comparison... even getting weaker as you fire it.

It is pretty coincidental that these Metal Attackers also all had a support droid, support animal, and human pilot, since the first game established that only the support droid was designed for the MA and can act as its pilot. Jason and Fred both came into contact with SOPHIA by accident. So Leibniz might not have had a support animal.

I feel like the whip did quite a lot of damage, yes, but the obvious lack of range makes it risky to use.

I think they hit on a theme they liked and are trying to flesh it out. I have questions about the designations of the other MAs as it is, considering Meta Fight called the tank MA-01.

SOPHIA III is also NORA MA-01, and talking to Eve at the beginning of the game reveals that it was the first in the Metal Attacker series (though in MetaFight, the name of it actually was Metal Attacker, but the designation was virtually the same suggesting it was still a series of tanks). Also, in MetaFight, Nora was the name of the planet Sophia III's satellite where the original Metal Attacker was developed. That's why the G-SOPHIA's designation is EARTH MA-001.

This, setting fire dash to a shortcut button completely changes how you play. Chaining dashes, wall-jumps, and hover bursts feels slick as fuck and turns it into a whole different game. You can also add the drill to your shortcuts as well, because it increases your falling speed and also gives SP back.

The dash counter is great on a shortcut, as well. If there's nothing to target, you can use it to dash like X and Zero. It negates rough terrain like the quicksand of Div Ido, which allows you to get around a lot of the switch puzzles.

Tried to play the original on the NES Online thing. Couldn't figure out where to go or how to use my other weapons. Felt like a retard. Gave up. Help?

The NES version is MUCH harder given that it has no saves and limited lives. Also no map, etc. It's been such a long time since I played that version of the game, but I think the special weapons in the tank were fired by pressing Down and B or something like that.

It's pretty straightforward, but there's no map. It's like metroid. SOPHIA has her main gun and her subweapons, which are just ammo pickups. Jason has infinite grenades, but his gunlevel stays at whatever your max pickup is. Gray icons are 1, flashing is 4(?) and tank upgrades are applied automatically. Jason-only doors are sometimes dead-ends, just with some powerups and ammo in them

I recommend playing the Famicom version (AKA Metafight) for infinite continues.
