Reading through the Kickstarter (which may get shut down of course) I wonder how they'll handle sex stuff thematically. That is to say, will various fetishes be choices made independent of character (ideally, this would be the way to go) and if there will be real storylines and development for those who want it.

If you're going to crowdfund a title like this graphics and porn should only be part of it, but rather you should put effort into making the experience extremely variable. If someone wants to play through fucking everyone on their crew and watching them all fuck each other, that's fine. If someone wants a vanilla-style experience where they pursue one character as their waifu and do all the kinky stuff they enjoy with her, do that. If someone wants them to all be huge sluts (ie If you're not fucking them, they'll fuck each other and whatever else is out there ) or if you want to play it harem style (where they only do "approved" things if you're not around), that should all be an option. There are too few hentai level games that have this kind of variability, - its like user above said where things fit into rigid archetypes; if you're crowdfunding, do better than that!

That said, one thing I do NOT like on the Kickstarter is it seems there is some sort of "exclusive" DLC. Fuck having to spend 100 or 175 tea-and-biscuits dollars in order to get the whole fucking game, with pets and DLC. This is a single player title for fuck's sake!

I was waiting for someone to bring up records to correct a mistake I made. In terms of quality, Rance was a big player back when the series started many years ago, and I'd even go as far as saying after it got a bunch of sequels, but that isn't the case now. All of the things it did has been done by other games already, so its nothing special. As for script length only Rance 10 holds that record, which is one of it's latest games. Quantity does not always equal to quality, as we've already talked about in this conversation chain. Rance's final game has the biggest cast (meaning more dialogue) but many of it's girls do not have sex scenes for some extremely odd reason. This is why 2ch was flipping it's shit about the series ending off on that note (in terms of sex pandering), because some people didn't get service from their waifus. It's like how people reacted to ExS-Tia series ending on A, with having the MC fuck the two side heroines ONLY and never touching the main girls.

Except the selling point for many fans was the idea of them all having at least one sex scene, which disappointed the majority when it didn't turn out that way. There's many h-games with well over a hundred unique CGs (not counting the thousands resulting from variations), so I don't understand how Rance 10 couldn't make at least 30 and make sure the extra girls had at least one among those.

Well Rance 10 was considered a premature ending by it's dedicated fans because of how little of a bang it ended with. The game-play was consistent but the sex felt like it had less than even some of its past games. There's a full set of waifus it teased who are just glorified cameos in the story and don't do anything. Usually when a porn game does that it means they're going to have a sex scene or something, but that wasn't it.

The Rance series itself started out great for it's time and then remained that way. The thing is, it did not adapt to the years with each game. Great 10 years ago isn't the same as great now. The Taimanin Asagi series adapted and then started having trouble about 4 years ago (around the time they moved to gacha) and are now in a similar place to Rance. The difference between the two is that TA still adapted well enough throughout the years that some of it's content can still be compared to current games right now. Rance has the good game-play it pioneered many years ago... and that's it. Other hentai companies have caught on and do the same thing... what makes Rance Special now?

Well studioFOW doesn't have much experience with creating models of their own, from what I understand. My guess is the model designer doesn't draw go that far with lewdness and just gave them the models. He may want to plug for his skills at creating the char models but not the bad press for what the animators decided to do with them.
