Whats the current state of VR?

Buy PSVR?
Buy a Vive?
Wait for Rift S?
Buy a Quest and use that until Gen 2?

buy vive and buy knuckles later or pimax knuckles.
Rift S is rebranded WMR device.
PSVR has small library.
Quest is google cardboard.

wait till pax is over because valve might announce something there and if they say nothing just get vive.

Oculus s looks good

this guy is retarded

HTC is a shitty company, all their controllers break after a short period of time. Literally a question of when because the rubber connection on the touchpad wears out.
PSVR is probably the cheapest entry right now with very good exclusives, but lacks a lot of great PCVR titles
Comparing Rift S to WMR is stupid too.
Quest is fully independent and even if it ends up having mobile graphics, it‘s still full fledged 360 degree VR with good tracking

Quest unironically

As someone who develops and works with all of the different VR-kits through my company, are you rich?

In that case Vive Pro with the Wireless adapter, otherwise probably the Oculus

Does anyone have that image comparing a lot of the VR headsets? I'm considering selling my oculus rift and going for a headset that won't have as much screen door effect, and one that doesn't need the external sensors. Oculus rift S seems like a good choice, as it has a slight resolution increase, and the switch to LCD with full rgb strips meaning it'll look even more clear than a similar resolution OLED display. Though some of the windows mixed reality headsets are looking like good choices.

The Rift S is probably ideal for you.
As far as we know the Rift S uses the same LCD screen as the Oculus Go, but with more hz.

If you are only going to use the WMR headsets for flight/space/racing sims it might be a good choice, but the camera tracking on the Rift S and Quest seem to be much better and cover a significantly wider field of view. All WMR headsets only have 2 front facing cameras, while the new Oculus inside-out ones have 4-5.
Basically WMR is shit for anything involving using motion tracking controls.

They all are different flavors of awful. I can't believe people pay +$500 for such shitty graphical quality.

Yeah, some of the WMR seem like they'd have better visual quality, but the tracking and the controllers look pretty bad. I'm mostly just waiting to see how big of a quality boost on the oculus rift S has over the regular rift, as I mostly watch porn with the rift, and only occasionally play games with it (not enough good games unfortunately).

I'm thinking of just selling my vive and getting a quest for the occasional beat saber session, whatever PC VR ports the y can get running on it and the porn

I pirate everything, I'm guessing the only pirated content that would work with the quest would be downloaded videos, but no games. Quest might be a good choice otherwise.

Is the Oculus Go good if I only want to watch porn?

PSVR or quest is the way to go

Only for porn it sucks for games.

The occulus quest will be mobile and be able to play games like beat saber and roborecall

Do you work at harmonix?
How many affirmative action employee hires does your company have?

The only VR system I plan on purchasing is Labo VR

Get a nice smartphone headset on AliExpress, and watch porn. That's all there is to it.

OH SHIT! THANOS NOOOO

everyone basically agrees that the quest is incredible, if they pair it with beat saber out of the box it's going to be widely more successful than any other headset out right now

PSVR is still the best headset for actual games
tomorrow is supposed to be a Playstation stream with more updates on PSVR games as well
no one else is funding/publishing the amount of VR games as Sony

you made this same thread yesterday and I told you to wait a while
why ignore me user
i'm so fucking offended now i'm going to go and smear my shit on a wall

PSVR sucks ass. Shitty tracking, no games at all. As much as I despise HTC as a company I still think the vive is currently the best thing on the market. Had it for around a year, and the only problem I have with it is that the triggers on the controllers squeak a little

Rift S is pretty damn good. Similar to WMRs but vastly improved tracking and controllers.
Price is disappointing though, in Europe it'll be 450 euros, not something you'd call an impulse buy for someone outside enthusiast range. They need to make it more affordable

oh look. Garage VR actually looks like something you would spend more than 5 minutes on after building the labo

how is Vive better than Rift when I can get the same tracking for extra 60 bucks, but you'll be stuck with those shitty controllers. And no, Knuckles don't exist yet.

Anyone know what happened regarding that valve VR leak? Was the video just a hoax or did valve delet them

If you want to dip your toes in for not a lot of money, Mixed Reality and PSVR is the way to go.
Definitely go Mixed Reality out of the two if you already have a good PC.
PSVR is pretty low-res and the camera tracking works, but its very limited. Could do with an extension cable but good luck trying to get an official one and the third party ones have a tendency to just not work.
Mixed Reality is amazingly easy to setup and use. 1440p screens really help reduce the screen door effect. The tracking is a little bit limited but if you're short of space its the best option to go for.

people ITT already abandoning vive/rift for the new hotness is not a good sign
the hardware is already considered obsolete, this is the type of attitude that will lead to a more and more fragmented industry with nothing of worth ever releasing

would a windows mixed reality be a good option ?

What about Oculus

facebook abandonware
keep chasing that dragon

>buy vive and buy knuckles later
this
knuckles will be made by volvo

As long as the software works on everything, more options shouldn't matter all that much. There will be minor differences between controllers, but not much that any one controller simply will not be able to do. The only threat is the Quest since it is Oculus' attempt to prevent people from playing anything they want. Aside from that, everything is going much better than I would have expected.

what the fuck is this logic. Literally every piece of hardware gets upgrades over time

>all previews say tracking is perfect
>OLED screen with the same resolution as the vive pro
>400$
>standalone and no wires
facebook wins again
