WHY IS DMC1 CONSIDERED THE BEST?

I know that there are a lot of Devil May Cry 1 fanatics on this board. Could you guys please explain to me what makes the original game superior to 3, 4 and 5? Is this affection based on virtue of it being the first entry in the series and basically the birth of a sub-genre of Action?

ive never seen anyone call 1 the best, 3 is the best. 1 has the best atmosphere and environments though

They like the atmosphere and art direction, which were admittedly best in 1.

Guess you're out of the loop but there's always that one DMC1 autist in EVERY single DMC thread.

A damn shame we never got to experience the cut versions of RE4 except for DMC1.

>WHY IS DMC1 CONSIDERED THE BEST?

It isn't.

Level design is intuitive and feeds into the combat. No chance of getting lost but still feels like exploring with the added atmosphere. Dante is limited but the enemies are made to be dangerous and challenging. Almost no fluff. 3 is better though. 4 and 5 fails in the all the departments I've mentioned.

How are 5's level designs not intuitive? Is totally straight forward UNLESS it's supposed to have a secret in it. Which, you know, it's a secret for a reason.

Most people call 3 the best.
But I still reckon 1 is the best. The atmosphere, the level design, the enemy design, it all comes together so well in 1.

DMC5's level design is intuitive in a way that it tells you straight to your face to keep running straight and maybe look for secret pocket areas. DMC1 isn't a straight line but is intuitive enough to suggest where you are supposed to go with proper camera angles and area textures.
