Long movies and short games is the patrician way to go. Marvel movies usually suffer from standard issue runtimes and directors decide it's easier to fill the 1hr30min~ with quips and stale humor in place of characterization or a well-paced story. The best movies are usually slow burners that take their time setting everything up with good payoff (see classics like TGTBTU)

However, long games have the opposite problem. Video games are an interactive, action-based medium meant to engage you. You absorb what's happening in a video game much more quickly and a player with any cognition at all will get their bearings fast and begin burning through content. So a lot of devs try to mitigate this with padding, filler quests, grinding, repeat content, and a lot of other boring shit that elongates game time long after the player has stopped feeling engaged by any of it. Smarter devs opt for much shorter games jam-packed with unique content that foster good replay value and are easy to come back to.
