The level of disappointment is astounding to me. Were people really so delusional that they expected male viera? They were not in the leak, and last fan fest there was no male models shown. Au Ra revealed both clans and both genders at the same time. All signs pointed to viera being female only. To have believed otherwise was folly beyond folly.

This is my personal reasons, but in every game with Viera theres never been a male seen.
I would probably be more okay with it if they'd set the lore up in 14 to be different, but they essentially ripped them straight from the ivalice games, lore and all. They even heavily detailed it in the world of 14. It would have been honestly retarded in my opinion to have paragraphs of dialogue saying how utterly isolationist the males are, and how if you ever see a male you're likely about to die by his hand, etc. only to then have thousands of them running around Eorzea. And at that point, barring the unforeseen destruction of their homeland, any excuse to make them more valid in the world would seem very forced to me.

As far as I recall(lore-wise) male'qotes are more or less 5% of moonies, i think these numbers are higher for sunnies. And for vieras the rate is stupidly lower, my bet is they are asspulling this because some creator didn't want them to add male vieras. I don't want Viera at all because I hate it when Final Fantasy games reuse ideas from earlier entries. The one off stuff like Exdeath and Kefka that are portrayed as entities from other worlds are fine, and so are the things that have been there from the start like moogles, chocobos and crystals- but just taking Viera wholesale and completely incorporating them into XIV weakens Eorzea as a unique setting.

Hrothgar are just pointless because we have statistics from every MMO from the dawn of time that shows that no one plays beast races. They're a waste or resources and the devs are going to be cornering themselves into refitting armor for a race that only 10 people are going to be using until the game dies. They're already off to a bad start by announcing that Hrothgar won't have visible headgear at launch.

don't know if rember correctly but the ds versions of the classic games took some liberties with the art style and whatnot. Think 1 of them even had voice acting. Might be misremembering some parts but still even if they are exactly the same the psp version should still look and run better, not that it matters much though.
