Also, another thing, because I played the Remastered version of 1. I'm really not one of those people to spout Soul vs Soulless, but something about the original Halo 1 just feels so much more aesthetically pleasing to me than the Remastered version. I also find it really strange just how different the lighting is. In the original, everything is really nicely lit and dark, and things have a nice glow to them, but in the Remaster everything feels so goddamn bright all the time, even in the parts where it's supposed to be dark. It also bugs me that when I switch between versions, I can see bullet holes on walls and shit when in the original, but then they're just gone in the Remaster. It's just so strange. I'm almost wondering if when I do play it on Legendary, if I should play the whole game with the original mode on.

I wonder why Halo 1 seems so much harder. I guess having to scavenge for health packs and the sheer amount of enemies they throw at you are probably the two main factors. Good fucking god is it hard though. I don't think it helps that the levels feel so long, but they can also get really boring because it feels like you're going through the exact same locations and areas a lot, especially when all the Forerunner rooms look the exact same.

Another thing I'd really like to add that I hadn't noticed until an user in another thread pointed it out, but holy cow did Alien inspire Halo 1. Even the Assault Rifle sounds near identical to the Pulse Rifle, it's crazy.
The music, tone, and atmosphere in Halo 1 feels so extraordinarily different to the later Halo games, too. They also sure do love throwing Hunters at you, fuck.

I can honestly see why everyone and their mother hates the Flood, especially in Halo 1. They are so fucking annoying and they feel fucking endless. It's stupid because at times you just start skipping over them and running past them in hopes of getting away, and that's pretty shitty if the player just wants to skip fights to not deal with them.

It definitely does not fit the tone the original is going for, and the lighting engine really works at a disadvantage in the Remaster. It was honestly bothering me the entire way through, but it wasn't until I got to the level the Flood was introduced that it really just felt way too changed. I can understand the gameplay comments but to me it would be intentional not every thing needs to be a fight the player resolves with a straight victory. I get the name and yes, it feels very intentional to have the Flood constantly flood out at you and just feel endless, but there are times where I was desperate for a break. It's very responsive and tight to move and aim, the map design is pretty vertical, even starts are back, the forge is elder god tier, the weapon balance isn't QUITE as perfect as it was intially since 343 gave into BRfags who wanted autos nerfed since they were actually good for once but it's still got some of the best weapon balance in the series, since even though now the magnum is really good and outclasses all non-power weapons, the AR, SMG< storm rifle, plasma rifle, BR, Carbine, etc are all still "good" they aren't just "as good" unlike in 2, 3, etc whetre they were straight up shit

the only real issue with 5's MP systems is that your mileage will vary on if the new movement systems ehnace halop's core design philsophies, or if they contradict them, but a lot of the time even people who think the latter still admit that 5's MP is good even if it's not quite as halo-y as they'd like

IMO it's the best MP in the series after H2A and H2.

It's not that CEA's visuals look bad per se, it's that I honestly don't think that it fits the original tone of the game at all. The music in Halo 1 is so wildly different from any of the other Halo games, and the same goes for the atmosphere. I don't think the Remaster captures that same feeling at all. The lighting, as I already said, is completely fucked too. Some areas in the original are legitimately really dark, but the Remaster brightens things up way too much.

Yea Call Of Duty and Battlefield were pushing for new features and a faster time to kill which resulted in these franchises sucking up a good portion of Halo's audience but that doesn't necessarily mean Halo was going anywhere anytime soon especially after 3.

Halo's population declined because late Bungie and early 343 took a giant shit on their core audience while trying to fish for casuals. They made a game that no one liked.

user, if you've been paying attention, then you'd see that I've responded to every person who has taken the time to actually given a legtimate attempt at a conversation a fair chance to convince me and vis versa, and in fact, did admit I was wrong a few days ago when I cliamed that there were no jumps in halo 5 that require clamber that were analgous to normal, non-skilljumps in past halo games, and when asnother user pointed out a jump on truth only doable with clamber that was possible in 2 without even crouchjumping, I said "well shit, I'm wrong then"
