Tremere blood magic is like human hedge magic, only it runs on blood instead of willpower. Limited in scope and effect.
True magic is dynamic. Has spheres like life, spirit, forces. Forces includes shit like gravity, heat, cold or just pure force. A basic Tremere can only do specific effects with blood magic. A mages spheres are a lot more versatile.
Want to control gravity or shoot lightning bolts? Forces. Shapeshift or stop someones heart? Life. Only limitation is paradox. A wizard can do whatever they want so long as there are no witnesses. A tree falling in the forest. If there are witnesses, the mage can get blowback for fucking around with people's perception of reality; they throw the fireball, but they catch on fire or trigger a flood or something wacky happens. Clever mages 'disguise' their magic so potential witnesses can't fuck with the effect. The fireball comes from an electrical fault or something. Some mages disguise their magic as technology.

It's alright, It was a 7/10 game when it launched, but that was close to 20 years ago. Vanilla hasn't aged well at in some aspects. Use the Age of Redemption mod, it's an overhaul but imo it improves the game, especially the enemy AI which was downright retarded. It also makes the whole thing function in multiplayer if you have a friend you want to play with. The servers are down so you have to use a workaround. More info on the mod here: e-mods.net

I always kind of understood that the whole point of "vampire society" was that this wasn't true. Sure there are some vampires who try to "be good" and view humans as more than cattle, but they typically get the "stupid child" treatment from older vampires, because they are too busy "playing hero" when they should be busy towing the line in vampire society.
