It still looks real fucking ugly. 2.5D was a mistake.

At least the characters aren’t.

This will replace MN9 as the goto example for why crowd sourcing is likely to yield terrible results

nope

Someone please make 0:58~1:00 into a looping webm

what expectations are you referring to?

Attached: 1553293517551.png (894x773, 48K)

im expecting it to be an ugly mess with bad voice acting so probably

Curse of the Moon 2 is all I want.

Looks like fucking garbage. Enemy and environmental design looks like the unity-equivalent of clipart. Also, thanks for showing the fucking backers' faces as portraits in the damn trailer. Way to immerse me in the game world and make me want to be there. Iga is a hack, and SotN and Rondo are the only good things he's had a hand in producing.

What expectations exactly? Art direction/graphic look like shit but the gameplay looks absolutely on point/identical to the previous Igavania titles. It has been pretty clear how this game is going to turn out for a while now.
Looks like a evolutionary dead end in which SotN got a 2.5D sequel for the PS2/PS3.

Iga only hung around the offices when Rondo was being made, being given a special thanks for that game. Literally only there because he was dating someone working on the game. Toru Hagihara directed both Rondo and Symphony. Toru got a promotion, so Iga finished the game, but Iga ended up taking all the glory.

Attached: quality animations.webm (1920x1080, 456K)

well that looks awful

I liked that 8 bit game they released

Attached: puppers.webm (1920x1080, 542K)

It couldn't possibly live up to my expectations. SotN is one of the best games ever made. I'll buy it when it comes out but i'll probably be disapointed no matter what.

Sounds about right. And he is just basking in his own "glory" as well.
>Igavania is back!
Fuck off. And he's a secret boss in his own game too, right? This whole project reeks of severe creative deficit. Like at least have a fucking idea before you put pen to paper.
At least Curse of the Moon was fun. Kinda irrelevant once the Cv Collection comes to the switch, though.

Attached: kitty.webm (1920x1080, 481K)

would rather play the touhou castlevania desu

Attached: yukaripaint.png (189x187, 4K)

unfortunately they outsourced that to inticreates
so this one isnt being made by them

I think it'll be a fun enough game.
It's just been in the oven for so long that I honestly believe that no matter what it will feel underwhemling in proportion to the wait for it.

I will get like a 75 metacritic so no, but it won't be terrible.

God, their walk/run cycles are so slow. Didn't they learn anything from Hollow Knight, Dead Cells, Sundered, and Axiom Verge? How did it take them FIVE YEARS to just produce this?

I doubt it. They didn't do anything as moronic as try to fund another Kickstarter (Red Ash) or crib funds from the game's development to make...this:

youtube.com/watch?v=UmY3jd0z8ho

Also, Curse of the Moon showed that there's at least a couple of people on the team who understand the fundamentals of a good Castlevania game.

Attached: CG Beck.jpg (1280x720, 72K)

This one was being made by then and it looked even worse back then.

It'll live up to my expectations, and that's all that matters.

Worst case though it sells incredibly well and lights a fire under Konami to make more Castlevania games. or at least port HoD to other systems or PC

really?
man that fucking sucks
at least they did good with curse of the moon

They suck at making 3D games, that's why MN9 turned out so bad. If Bloodstained was sprite based it would have come out ages ago and looked much better.

Castlevania and Metroidvania aren't the same thing, though. It doesn't take as much thought to design a more linear game. Likewise, MN9 wasn't functionally bad either. I think a lot of people give Mega Man way too much credit due to nostalgia, its level design was always simplistic and at best mediocre, and it only stood out by having a weapon system that semi-functioned as an adventure mechanic. MN9 was terrible because of the presentation, pretty much all of the polish that goes on top of the gameplay was either bad, inconsistent or misplaced

That's the WORST case? You're very optimistic.

it looks way better than it did a year ago.

>Summer 2019
As an Australian I am confused.

And yet it still looks like garbage

yeah i really wish they went with good sprite work for this but it would have cost more i guess

I just want the best to come out of one of my favorite franchises, that and I unironically enjoyed the several demo builds I played, even if the graphics are a little rough around the edges.

Attached: somahod.png (570x517, 1.14M)

what expectations?

I think it was mostly Unreal engine, which they supposedly had no clue how to use. They made some 3D 3ds and psp games that were fine.

Why didnt they just make the conversation parts portraits like OoT, those 3D models look awful

In what way?

>Likewise, MN9 wasn't functionally bad either.

Its level design was atrocious:

youtu.be/MFbRyJMEEYk?t=189

Looks like a more detailed Dracula X Chronicles, which I'm OK with.

Team Ladybug is everything Artplay pretends to be.

Is sprite art expensive to make or something why did it have to be shit 2.5D

Modern games = 3D. 2D is cheap indie shit. Iga was trying too hard. He's out of touch. Too much of an insider.

I was speaking relative to the old Mega Man games, which the author of that video even uses examples from to show what he thinks is bad level design by modern standards. If MN9 had been an NES Mega Man, it would have fit right in in other words

The visuals are an eyesore. Castlevania: SOTN still looks miles better and it came out decades ago. Dropped.

I would have kept playing hollow knight if it wasn't for the art style. Completely ruined the game for me. It was like I was playing in a coloring book where the kid only had 3 crayons but was really good at staying inside the lines. Just super bland.
Bloodstained looks a lot better desu.

>If MN9 had been an NES Mega Man, it would have fit right in in other words

No, the Famicom games were miles ahead of MN9. MN9 is just sloppy and flat out boring. The game feels rushed because it was (no money).

>Will Bloodstained live up to expectations?
Bloodstained has one problem, Hollow Knight.
No matter how fucking good Bloodstained is, there's fucking Hollow Knight.

Attached: grindsmygears.png (600x456, 298K)

And Dead Cells

it would really be embarrassing if curse of the moon will be better than the real deal

I'll still play it because at least the gameplay looks fun and I've been starving for a proper igavania but I will always be perpetually baffled by their decision to make it 2.5D.

>proper igavania

he didn't make the genre. That's just marketing speach.

It's the 21st Century, shouldn't (They) know better?

This but unironically. Curse of the Moon was fucking tight

It wont. I rather play any castlevania again. The game its totally souless fanservice

> The fucking paintings
Cant believe they left them in the game

ITT

Attached: v checking for downgrades.png (548x453, 299K)

I know you're just falseflagging but it does hurt seeing the Silksong and Bloodstained trailers back to back.
I'm excited for both games but jesus fuck the clocktower, castle, and even lava area in the Hornet trailer looked so god damn better.

At least Curse of the Moon delivered on all fronts.

Jesus....

Embarassing, but not surprising.

>CoM

Chain just clips through his fucking hand.

What's wrong with them?

They're gaudy and out of place, but honestly, that's just a problem with "user content" in kickstarter generally. It's almost invariably jarring and immersion-breaking. Just be thankful no furries seem to have backed Bloodstained, at least for higher tiers.

I want to give the Gunvolt games a try, but I've also heard that some of the games in the series aren't that good. What are the good Gunvolt games?

you're gaudy and out of place.

Mighty Gunvolt is too short and basic, the first Gunvolt is a bit rough around the edges, Mighty Gunvolt Burst and Gunvolt 2 are great. But all of them are worth at least one playthrough.

Nothing will ever top MN9 on that regard

Cry like an anime fan on prom night: The Sequel

blunderstained will be trash just like every other kikestarter
3D was a mistake

No.

>kikestarter

Woah ho ho. We got someone who's edgy here! A real verifiable bad ass.

Well they probably aren't going to insult fan that badly.

Probably not, but I think it'll be fine.

That looks like my dog lol

>people are looking forward to this

Attached: 1530231192623.webm (960x540, 2.88M)

HK looks gorgeous. It's a shit game but definitely good looking.

Great swords give i-frames?

looks fine to be honest. curse of the moon made me believe in this game.

Both demos played well so it'll at worst be good but ugly. The graphics have improved quite a bit recently but it's still pretty bad looking.

Mighty Gunvolt (the original) actually prepared me for Zonda's bullshit in GV2 (well, the first phase at least). BUT GODDAMN EVERY CHARACTER CONTROLS LIKE SHIT IN IT.

Attached: smug.jpg (252x200, 10K)

>those backer portraits

Closed the video. I can't stand shit like that being put into video games. Sticks out like a sore thumb.

Looks very disappointing but i will buy it because i'm a metroidvania fag. Might wait till it goes on sale.

I honestly actually like that. The graphics are ass of course, but I love goofy glitches like that, part of the fun of the Metroidvania games was seeing how you could break them, like being able to beat Harmony of Dissonance on the GBA in under 30 seconds with Maxim.

Why does the character move so fucking SLOOOOOOOOOW?
Even her fucking jump animation looks like she's floating around on the moon.
Overall the game just seems really fucking unpolished.

Christ, weebshit aside this looks fun.

It moves at the same speed as SoTN, and thats what its backers wanted

this shit looks like a low-effort porn game

This. Fags.
The only reason you think alucard moved faster is because he had more frames in his walk like pic related. Now, they definitely should have compensated for this though, but really? I can't see them being competent enough to do so.

Attached: awkward as hell.gif (400x200, 31K)

I dare you to prove him wrong.

That's not a 'glitch', it's just really awful boss design

Unironically soul vs soulless.

Attached: screenshot0097.jpg (1280x720, 132K)

It'll probably be an okay game, so no. People are expecting another MN9.

Shovel Knight

>implying anybody can be as SOUL as krobon and his krew

They should have made bloodstained look more like this, what amateurs.

its fucked that they cancelled the vita version when its still getting all the hollow knight DLC.
Portables are perfect for metroidvania, and not the switch isn't portable.

Yet he's made no money from this. How bout that?

It still looks kinda janky and the 2.5D isn't as visually captivating as it could be, but I don't really sweat too much over that stuff.

Honestly my biggest concern is that it could come out and the best it could be is just competently made. This isn't something like an RTS or whatever, there are shitloads of Metroidvanias being made. It is to indie development, what IPAs are to craft beer. There is no shortage of adventure platformers or whatever you want to call them being made, and all it might be able to coast on is having Iga's name attached to it.

Attached: 1543163961104.jpg (800x1024, 197K)

I wonder if they changed that up since then, I have the beta backer demo and Zangetsu does this flame thing now you don't see in the webm

What's the difference between koboron and team ladybug?

What is it? Some kind of Metroidvania? I think I heard about it a few weeks ago, but it didn't really catch my eye.

I really wish they'd expand the KonoSuba game into a full game.

I'm still kinda pissed I missed out on this preorder. Did anyone here get lucky and get one?

Attached: bloodstainedCE-1.jpg (882x496, 480K)

konosuba?

Because the amount of money spent or earned determines how good something is, right?
As far as I know: Krobon came before Ladybug.
Krobon was the guy who made the mogura engine along with Action Mogura, Return Of Egypt (under the “Driven Phantom Soft” label, which I don't know anything specific about) and Pharaoh Rebirth. Team Ladybug is essentially Krobon with extra developers teaming up.

He means this.
youtube.com/watch?v=tjUPcb_MIDw

How many games have these guys made? Every week I seem to find out about a new one.

I don't understand this.

Yes, Kobron came first. He's the artist/programmer/writer. He made a few games. Team Ladybug is a bigger developer with like 6 people total, so they can make more games and do more. By day Kobron is a 3D modeler and does modern games and programming, so these 2D games are just a side hobby to him.

You haven't played Night of Revenge?

bloodstainedfanforums.com/thread/3906/team-ladybug-make-next-bloodstined

I expect an okay SotN clone, so yeah it'll probably live up to my expectations

>By day Kobron is a 3D modeler and does modern games and programming
>so these 2D games are just a side hobby to him.
Had no idea. Fucking madman.
Look at all that anger.

I don't understand why people keep REEing over this game. It looks fine.

Desperate for another MN9

Attached: 1528543038793.png (1810x1342, 1.3M)

That box is pretty cool.

Yeah he has a few interviews where he explains that.
siliconera.com/2016/04/09/making-game-want-play-talk-pharaoh-rebirths-kurobon/

>I took a break from game creation in 2005 and founded a 3D Graphics company, but in 2014 I returned to game development and released Action Mogura, submitting it to a game development contest held in Japan. Action Mogura received 5 awards in that contest, and that achievement lead me to start developing Pharaoh Rebirth.

>It took me a year. You may think that’s short, but I would have finished it in 6 months if I weren’t occupied with other work. I usually develop games in very short duration like that.

Are these actually good or are you guys just fellating them because of the visuals? Animations look kind of jank.

Gotta get that TORtanic action, and Yea Forums latched onto Bloodstained for that from day one since it shared a few connections with Mn9 making it an easy target.

Even though general response to the game's demos have been largely positive, and a lot of love for the fact that it's a near 1/1 copy of Iga-era Castlevania's gameplay, which is exactly what most backers wanted, 90% of the threads here are bitching about the visuals and calling it a failure over the same five webm's.

hollow knight is okay, i enjoyed my time with it but people really exaggerate just how good it is. plus the game looks like shit, it's so dark and boring to look at. then again RotN doesn't look much better anyways

we've had more than a couple people mention Hollow Knight in this very thread.

How good is Curse of the Moon?

Harmony of Despair worth a shit? It's on sale on PS3 atm.

>Will Bloodstained live up to expectations?

It'll live up to my expectations. Mediocre like all the other IGAvanias, only this time it won't have decent presentation to make people like it.

>plus the game looks like shit, it's so dark and boring to look at
Having taste this shit should be illegal.

They're cheap, cute, kinda fun games. I've enjoyed all of them so far. Their latest is a short touhou game.

>That's not a 'glitch', it's just really awful boss design
symphony of the night had the exact same problem. every igavania game can be cheesed to death.

>FEMALE PROTAGONIST
konami killed cv. we needed more igavanias

One of the best Retrovania clones to date.

Unfortunately autism. I miss when people use to talk about why they think the game sucks other than "it has bad animation" and have the same WebMs.

>high expectations
>ugly game
>big delays

You forgot the most important part.

>multimillion dollar kickstarter

This art direction is seriously liquid ass
Everything looks like it's made of clay-do

I feel like you guys are too lenient to make up for the TORtanic faggots. It doesn't look fine, it looks mediocre and inferior to the 8-bit game. It probably won't be bad, but I doubt it will be anything more than just "good".

>looks it up

Goddamn. Those are some magnificent knockers.

>complain aabout bad graphics

in a bloodstained forum? Jeez .

fun 7/10 games.

So far the game up to release is relatively non eventful, so it it's not even a fraction similar to MN9.

Attached: 1504253101257.jpg (579x587, 93K)

Post the one wehre she's fat.

That picture is outdated.

Attached: OHAYOUUU.png (579x587, 108K)

Curse is extremely overrated. It can't compare with any of the classic Castlevanias except shit like Simon's Quest. Not 1, 3, Bloodlines, Rondo or even Super.
Ritual looks bad, but gameplay-wise appears to be just as good as the Sorrow games rather than a watered-down replica.

What is this trash,
bootleg Castlevania?

Nah, Curse is better than 1 and 3. It's far more replayable.

youtube.com/watch?v=Ks47X-XioEA

Yeah, that's kind of the point since Konami isn't doing anything new with Castlevania anymore.

>15 Iga dollars have been deposited into your account

well at least they're doing something to improve it because the teaser looked atrocious

Iga had nothing to do with Curse.

Here's the short version, definitely improved since that crappy gameplay trailer

Attached: bloodstained visual update.png (1200x900, 880K)

Polish that turd Iga.

>really fucking ugly
>upstaged by the 2D spinoff
What went wrong?

What other games are on the Switch like this? Already finished Chasm and Dead Cells.
I mean with RPG mechanics, equipments and damage numbers.
Unepic and Ghost 1.0 are on my backlog.

Cave Story

>What went wrong?

Ben Judd planning everything and insisting on Unreal Engine to speed up development (look it up, that's the cited reason to use UE3, plus it's speed of portability).

looks like absolute crap holy shit, 2.5 not even once

Oh yeah forgot about it, finished it a long time ago in PC, is the remake worth it? Like does it add new things or it's just the game?

Also Momodora was ported to the Switch too.

penis, LOL!

people like this are going to constantly cry about the artstyle even after the game comes out
everybody else is going to play it and have a good time

>People are gonna keep commenting on an ugly game being ugly even after it comes out
Woah... You must be some kind of genius. I thought we were gonna lose our eyes!

Yeah I've been thinking this for years.

no matter what the graphics look like the retards are going to constantly cry NOOOOO MUH 2D GRAFIX MUH SOTN when right now the game looks 200% better than the first E3 demo from like 2 or 3 years ago.
NOT flawless, but also not shit like the Castlevania crybabies make it out to be

>It looks better than before, you gotta hand it to them, so it's ok that it still looks like shit
No

Anyone ordering Curse of the Moon from Limited Run?

Your webm is outdated.

Attached: 1550255347182.jpg (7058x2026, 3.9M)

Bottom looks better except for the first image

I won't let anyone say 3d is easier and cheaper after this shit

no. i think it will fill in the CV gap though

Yeah the visuals are without a doubt still flawed, but it also far from how the game used to look. They've done a lot for the visuals.

Its visuals are passable now and the demo played great. Any fan of Aria or the DS Castlevanias would enjoy this, it's very much following that lineage with the story, village quests and shard system. It feels basically 1 to 1.

All the shitposting about the game is coming from people who just wanna reee at major kickstarter games or only give a shit about SotN because it's gorgeous on PS1. The people who backed the game are largely those who followed Iga's work into the mid-2000s, and for those fans it'll likely live up to expectations. If you're mad about Linux bros having their version cancelled late into development without an offer for refunds that's scummy as hell and completely valid but that's never what Yea Forums focuses on, it's the same webm of the village in that one E3 demo that doesn't resemble the current build at all.

>hating slow walk cycles

Why do you keep posting old ass stuff?

Lot of improvements in the lighting,
Looks fine to me now and play even better based on latest demo.
The "igavania is back " shit is a bit arrogant yeah, but that's a marketing punchline, whatever sells the game the best.

How does this retard keep getting work?

>Iga only hung around the offices when Rondo was being made
We're getting to the point where people will start claiming he never even worked on a Castlevania game, and in fact killed the real Iga to take his place making him a double fake

Attached: 1521984544945.png (401x349, 333K)

...

Axiom Verge took about 5 years. Dead Cells took almost 10 years between multiple iterations.

youtube.com/watch?v=B5KOhJqNofs
christ, this shit is 5 years old and they still are not finished with this garbage? embarissing stuff.

My expectation is Aria of Sorrow 3 and Bloodstained is exactly what it looks like

Looks like a cheap mobile game made in Unity
Might be worth a pirate though

those portraits...

I WAS excited for this, but then I played 2hu luna nights and it showed me what an actual castlevania would be like in 2k19. Now I don't think I can bring myself to play this garbage when it releases

Attached: Awoo+girl+momiji+inubashiri+sfw+2_c11e1c_6185596.jpg (639x862, 101K)

No, but even if it did live up to expectations it wouldn't remotely compare to the slew of quality games that have come out in the last few months.

What expectations?

Firm>sag

Big>Small

While scenes like and look pretty much in line with a 2.5D Harmony of Despair, most of what they showed in the trailer had terribly flat lighting.

I really hope the gameplay makes up for it. In any case, I'm glad we got Curse of the Moon out of the whole kickstarter thing.

Original intent>Revision. Also it's a monster. And even if monster girls are found to be sexy, they aught to not be considered so. Improbably huge breasts add to the otherworldly effect.

They were okay in Shovel Knight because they pixelized all of them and they're all dumped in their own optional museum

more like Shitstained

based blankposter

that game looks like a mess, but this guy is a gigantic faggot. half the things he complains about aren't even bad design, just mechanics that punish him for being shit.

How come some no-name indie devs managed to create a 10/10 metroidvania masterpiece on a miniscule budget while the producer of Aria and Symphonia can't on a record breaking Kickstarter budget?

Attached: 12443623413.png (1280x480, 218K)

Stop fucking baiting with HK you god damn shitposters.

>"3D is cheaper to produce, so more kickstater money to pocket for myself."

You fags are just going to pirate it any way.

If they can make SotN gorgeous on PS1, then they really have no excuse with the capabilities we have now. Resolution was a mistake apparently if PS1 and DS games look better than 2019 multiplats.

Wait, didn't this game come out already?

2.5d meme needs to end. Only Klonoa has done this well.

Attached: alucard_xii_by_0kronos0.png (510x246, 19K)

The demo was amazing and it felt like a third Sorrow game.
If the full game somehow doesn't take a nosedive in quality relative to the demo, then it just might be a genuine GotY contender, in spite of its inconsistent visuals.
