I don't get how it wants me to play so it's just frustrating.
retards want it to be another dark souls lol
So fucking unfun, if I wanted to be a masochist I'd hire a dominatrix to come peg me. That would be a better use of my money than this confusing mess of a game.

No one is telling anyone how to think about it, which is kind of neat.
Yea Forums is full of casuals
>WAAA I CAN'T ROLLSPAM EVERYTHING THIS GAME IS UNFAIR
is all I hear
its more souls shit but now with shit stealth and less builds.
I got burnt out by DS3.
>No moonlight greatsword
bad game
The input lag makes it extremely annoying to play and I doubt From is going to patch it.
RIDIN HIGH
I can't make out a single fucking telegraph in this game, enemies may as well be amorphous blobs to me
It would be nice if it wasn't just Dark Souls #25. At this point it's getting as bad as Asscreed.
Combat is still slow and unresponsive as fuck despite the flashy animations. I don't even care about the difficulty, there's nothing that has justified it in a Souls game since Dark Souls, it's just for the memes. Maybe if you're making a Ninja game you need a proper combat system?
the game has zero input lag
let me guess, you're a retard playing with wireless appliances
Not him but almost everyone plays wireless you faggot
The game doesn't want me to die but I die anyway.
Where are the summon items for this game?
I need help.
It's easier than souls or nioh.
It's just that you have to learn boss and enemy patterns every single time, so it's a game of pure memorization, with no actual strategy or mechanical skill required.
In other words it's a 15-20 hour soul sucking grind, and probably the first from game I'm not buying the DLC for.
>Not him but almost everyone plays wireless you faggot
Bait?
Souls and Nioh are the ones that are all about memorization. Even though there's still patterns you need to learn, in Sekiro attacks are far less telegraphed so you need to have good reflexes.
>REEEEE WHERE ARE THE SHIELDS?
Actually there is a shield, and it's super OP too, since you can get an upgrade to literally spin it to auto-parry some fools
hahahahaha NO. nice try with your generic post.
more like pressing L1 200+ times for every boss fight and wacking back with your pathetic weak sword hits is not fun and makes combat feel painfully unsatisfying
It's just NOT FUN.
Which i am severely lacking in. I guess this is what i get for playing quake 3 team arena for years and having everything memorized.
>actually using a wireless anything for PC
it's literally dark souls 2, beat for beat
it's the worst parts of soulslikes combined with the worst parts of action/hacknslash
There’s little variation in the setting, majority of enemies are boring design wise, and the game becomes a cakewalk once you get the skill that restores health every time you use a deathblow.
hitboxes are still as janky as ever, teleport grab attacks, parrying timings dark-souls 3 level of fucked and the whole game revolves around them... yeah
I don't even play wirelessly on my PS4 lol
...
This game runs like ass on PS4, ruins the experience entirely. I have to constantly eat shit from wireless input lag and barely being able to discern parry frames because the game is choppy. Modern Battletoads, absolutely fucking horrid shit with terrible difficulty balance that people will somehow cherish fondly.
It's actually great, it's just that Yea Forums is so fucking casual they're pretending to think it's a bad game so they can hide the fact they didn't get past chained ogre
Every combat encounter (even normal enemies) is constant 3-way mixups with a gazillion different attack animations and timings. It's just tedious.
>his strategy is literally to sprint in and mash R1
>enemies rightfully punish him
>WOOOOW DODGE BUTTON DOESNT WORK
I dunno it's just not fun
so far it's pretty tedious how you literally only have one option for how to play.
normally FromSoft bosses are really fun, but these ones aren't.
my only complain is that there's way too much exposition and those fucking Call Of Duty markers for enemies
everything else is pure kino
how do I beat monkey boss 2nd time when he calls his buddy?
Every time I sense an opening I get interrupted.
It’s actually shit, contrarians on Yea Forums pretend to like it so they can brag about having big epeen.
gameplay is boring as fuck, parry parry parry attack, get parried for some reason, repeat until the AI decides to let your attack go through, just beat owl and so far I haven't gone against a single enjoyable boss apart from maybe the ape
If the game had more responsive controls I'd be 100% down with it. But when you pit me against lightning fast enemies with fast windups and all I have is either a SLOW parry, a SLOW jump or a short as shit dodge (with barely any iframes), it stops being unfun. After a battle you don't feel like you overcame a challenge, you feel like you got lucky and would 100% die if you tried the same battle again. Yeah, it's hard alright, but how much of an accomplishment is that when you need to throw basic action game tenets out the fucking window?
Um no sweetie
>clashing swords with enemies is less fun than rolling around like a retard spamming R1
Nice shit opinion you have there
Besides, you need to time parries correctly so it affects enemy posture and there's certain attacks that can't even be parried
You're full of shit
That's just salty soulsfags
>PS4
I think I've pinpointed the problem you're having.
its just trial and error for 12 hours
It's just kind of boring.
it stops being fun*
god damn it
Honestly, this is the hardest game From has ever made for me. I played all the Souls games (even Bloodborne) as primarily a sorcerer, with very little melee. Literally the only time I parried enemies was Gwyn in DaSI.
Don't worry about me user, I've been bitching it's too hard but I've been bitching the game is too hard since Dark Souls 1 I don't know why I keep buying these games at full price, fuck.
HOW DO I BEAT 2ND MONKEY AT POISON POOLS GOD DAMIT
Where the fuck do I find this
using magic is easy mode in souls games
You are fucking delusional, and i'm not even the fucker in Try paying attention t o jumps.
they remove invulnerability frames and suddenly 90% of people are lost
runs fine on mine, maybe your ps4 is dying or maybe you just suck shit at the game
based DSP poster
I can't wait for the TIHYDP
Mash l1 and hope for the best: the game
inb4 git gud,I've completed it already
>caring about performance
>using a shitbox4
What the fuck did you expect
>runs fine on mine
>DigitalFoundry video shows how terribly the console versions run
>PS4
I found your problem
dont play it like dark souls
attack but dont spam, deflect and dodge accordingly because they can start attacks with hyper armor during your offense
Under Shinobi Arts, top choice in the third tier.
it's probably really unfortunate that this game released after everybody's been playing DMCV for a while, and we've all gotten spoiled for combat where you're encouraged to use a wide variety of attacks and abilities, as opposed to spamming R1 and every now and then pressing L1 or dodging/jumping
Even DSP beat all the Dark Souls games, doesn't mean you're good or understand the game.
if the game had input lag parrying would be impossible
yet I can parry every enemy 100% of the time and take zero damage
I'm not delusional, you're just bad like 99% of the Yea Forumsermin on this board
I'm having fun.
Game sucks. Every but Yea Forums likes it because people are idiots with shit taste. Deal with it incel.
Have sex.

t. Guard Broken Niglet
Wrong.
dmc5 is casual shit compared to sekiro
>be bad at the game
>blame the game
wew
Sekiro is what a Souls game would be if you removed all the RPG elements and focused purely on combat.
So how exactly is this not dark souls?
biggest gripe with DMCV is you never feel like you're in danger, you can basically tune out and try to get sick fucking combos
>there's certain attacks that can't even be parried
and the only way to find out which ones are unparriable is to tank them and hope for the best
It also happens to be a shitton more entertaining to play and how it encourages replays.
Sekiro isn't worth more than one playthrough.
So it's just a shittier, soulless Nioh with normie "difficulty"?
so a SL1 run, then?
I think that it is a good game, it shares a lot with Soulsborne but it differs from it as well. A couple of things i dislike is that you just have one weapon, and not many arm weapons as well. Kinda forces you too play a certain way. But i like the story, the progression, lore and some of the bosses. Im suprised at how much is in the game. Im 25 hours in and have a lot of things that are not done and i do not se the story ending soon.
Doesn't do anything new.
no leveling mechanics
no stats or builds
no multiplayer
you can move in the z-axis
basically it's react and counter like how a samurai would.
There is a skill to learn here but its not particularly deep or fun to learn. Every combat encounter starts to feel very samey.
>walking into that black fucking cave
>youtube.com
>glowing dude down in the hole
what fresh hell have I awoken, this music is fucking great
>where are the shields
You now realize that l1 behaves just like a shield, and posture behaves just like stamina, BUT BETTER
I killed the big drunk guy but the door behind him is locked. What do I do ?
>good combat is mashing r1 and QTE's where you press L1
Did you even play the game you absolute moron? The opponent literally has a fat red sign above his head before he does an unparriable attack every single time
the combat has less depth then souls/bloodborne you autistic fuck
You gotta find your daddy and have him give you the spare key.
Play the game
You tried user. Maybe if you post a shitty wojak you'll get some (you)s.
Samurai didn't CLANG swords together until their enemy dropped in shock
>>clashing swords with enemies is less fun than rolling around like a retard spamming R1
Nice shit opinion you have there
I never once said that dark souls had anything to do with this you god damn idiot. maybe you did but this game is just boring on its own. I thought dark souls was boring except for the first one.
1/10 bait
bruh i have all the images of this and i think i should do an edit with N I G G E R on them
OH NONONONONONO
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHA
*inhales*
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
you're playing wrong friend
there's a fucking tutorial teaching you how to react to any kind of attack (jump, dodge, parry) you just have to pay attention to the animation and not be completely braindead
Buyer's remorse
My ass. Try fighting Seath and Nito with Magic, it's fucking tough
The entire game is literally rock paper scissors. What's so hard to understand?
>he swung?
deflect
>he thrusted?
mikiri counter
>he sweeped?
jump
it's that fucking simple
>he actually thought samurai parried each others attacks for 5 minutes like in a fucking anime
>people keep comparing Sekiro with DS
what's the deal faggots you can't spam roll with your min-maxed build? I love this game only because it's btfoing every soulfag on this world.
it's ok user i play wireless too
Wait one more week for the threads to start popping up when they realise they'll never replay the game ever again.
braindead soulsniggers in their natural habitat
they've deluded themselves into thinking mashing dodge is "deep" and "takes skill"
>implying I bought it
please do, i could use some more shitposting material
My only problem is realizing that you can't actually parry everything like the game wants you to because the enemies will occasionally go into another move immediately after that you can't parry so you're stuck in another animation.
user, you fucking idiot, how many times do I have to tell you to post a smug wojak when you're baiting, it's basically a fucking guarantee for (you)s.
? You don't have stamina, wtf are you talking about? Did you even play the game, you can run around a boss all the time for all the fights dodging everything.
Seething over lost $60
i've literally finished the game you moron, all you do is replace timing your escape damage button from dodge to parry
the difficulty of DMC is not surviving till the end, but doing so in style
>Oh looks another dark souls games how original
>Look mom i made it again!
Get some fucking taste you low class low IQ niggers LMFAO
>having fun
no user, you're doing it wrong. you're supposed to talk about how shit the game is and how its full of artificial difficulty
You're still missing the smug wojak - here, have a free one, it's on me.
>you feel like you got lucky and would 100% die if you tried the same battle again
Pretty much this. I'm sure it is possible to master them but most of the time I don't even know what the fuck is going on.
>Sekiro defenders don't actually defend the game they just attack Dark Souls.
>Implying i would buy cuck souls clone
PFFT HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA
pinhead worked up into a seethe
no no no
Sekiro is what a Souls game would be if you removed all the RPG elements, stripped down the combat to one weapon only using one button, and shoe horned stealth elements in that are even shallower than an Assassin's Creed game.
Already defensive, I didn't even talk about Souls trash, I'll wait for you in the buyer's remorse thread
I say I like it and then someone replies to me immediately that I'm wrong for doing so
not him but i keep panicking during enemy attacks and pressing the wrong button because the enemy keeps psyching me out + fucking shit response time on my part.
>ALRIGHT TIME TO BLOCK
>PRESS R1
>WAIT
>wait
>oh fuck i'm retarded
I think fast action games just aren't for me. I'm having fun, though, and that's what matters.
>oof ouch ow my wallet!
>all you do is replace timing your escape damage button from dodge to parry
so it's literally the same as DS but somehow "it has less depth than souls" or "it has bad combat" depending on which retard you are?
retard
This 100%
Both are shit enjoy your artificial difficulty shit bosses shit combat shit everything about the game is bad and it makes the last of us look good.
A game is only as hard as the challenge it presents. Dabbing on punching bags might take skill but it's perpendicular to the difficulty of the game's content itself.
You can like it but it could of been so much more....and we know from is capable.
I don't think they really thought the combat through properly.
it kinda seems like From got complacent and thought people will like whatever they dish out.
You only have one weapon, you only press one button. Play the game before you talk.
Ouch never buy cuck souls infact if i did i would blow my head off because my taste is not at a niggers level.
>so it's literally the same as DS but somehow
apart from the fact that DS has 10 different weapon styles with different movesets, pyromancy and sorcery you autistic cretin, crawl back into your hole
>Why don't you guys like this game?
they can't summon other people to beat the game for them and refuse to git gud.
He's right, you know.
I really like it so far, even if it has serious issues (camera, lock-on, stealth, animation cancelling, AI, glorified QTEs) and I would be lying if I said these bossfights weren't the most frustrating shit I've fought in years. Pretty exciting stuff, but very trial and error for a shitter like me. I've put atleast 1000 hours into From's other games but this is something else when it comes to difficulty.
It's not input lag, everything......just.........takes...........forever
It's like they gave Arthur from RDR2 a sword.
>Why isn't this another Dark Souls so I can complain how it's worse than Bloodborne?
sure, the game's easy if you only play it on normal.
but you're not meant to stop there.
Seething it's gonna take you 8 weeks of allowance to recuperate the money you lost on the game
Is this why Dark Souls Switch has such bad input lag
>trying to dodge
What a shitter
>Why don't you guys like this game?
Because i enjoy fun not a circle jerk of garbage trash and anything cuck souls related makes me puke hard. This post gave me cancer.
hold down both triggers for your special move dumbfuck
Yea Forums is a shit place to talk about games, especially near release and games with rabid fanbases. People shit on Nioh for weeks for only having 5 weapon types ontop of having Diablo loot and rehashing missions, and shitty enemy variety. Now? Its apparently the greatest thing ever and people can't wait for more reusing missions in a mission select screen and diablo loot padding
I like the setting and fast paced combat, but the prosthetic arm is not getting much use, just the spinning top shuriken for taking out dogs and monkeys. I'm at the shamisen miniboss now, getting totally destroyed, seems like you need inhuman reflexes for this cunt.
You can't learn anything in this game, if I replayed this I would struggle just as much on my second playthrough as I do now. No discernable AI quirks that make you feel smart for finding them, just RNG and more RNG. Fucking horrible game 6.5/10
>try to kill the glutton fuck miniboss
>kill the monkeys with shurikens, no problem
>backstab the shit out that fat fuck
>can't barely do any damage to his second phase
I don't get it. This shit feels like playing Dark Souls fists only. I've been upgrading my character so I don't know what else to do. Thank god you can skip him altogether.
Sekiro is going to be that game you forgot From made a few years from now.
I like this game and I'm already planning to replay it after my first run.
enjoy having ur neighbour picking up the controller's signals and reading ur inputs faggot
>LONE shadow Vilehand
>IMMEDIATELY ganks you with his buttbuddy
Well thats the first time I can I say Ive been duped by just the name of a boss in a souls game
>sprint around boss at medium range
>wait for him to do the telegraphed free hit attack they always do when you're too far away
>sprint attack
>run back
>repeat
I've done this for every single boss I've struggled on and it works without fail
Ok I've never played a Souls game nor Bloodborne
Is this a good game for a noob
not paying for this shit i just wanna know if it's worth the copyright notice from ISP
>From Soft actually thought people liked their combat for its own sake and not the fact that it was incredibly adaptable and allowed you to use a variety of very different weapon styles and magic
>they decided to only give you one weapon and simplify it even more than any single weapon in Souls
It’s a shitty souls game like ds2
>I’ve done the cheapest thing I could think of and turns out it’s cheap
welcome to every game ever made
Did you miss this nigga as soon as you enter the temple on fire?
>excusing bad game design
lap it up
wow, 1 special move that you need to change on the menu, incredible combat. Play more games and open your eyes Fromdrone.
I kinda feel the same.
I just beat Genichiro, but if you gave me 10 attempts right now there's no guarantee I'll beat him again.
I play wireless with the XBone controller and the USB adapter.
I don't know if I'm just retarded but I don't notice any big input lag.
It’s another Tenchu game, so I like it.
>baiting attacks and punishing is cheap
sekirocucks literally seething their game isn't as hard as they thought it was
>Sekiro is going to be that game you forgot From made a few years from now.
nah it'll be the game that made/v/ shit it's pants
This was my problem for a while too.
You can't play it like a Souls game where you just wait for your opponent to attack and dodge/parry him. You have to go on the offensive and don't let him attack- and if he does, counter/dodge it in time and just fuck his shit up harder. Punish him for trying to attack you
goalpost changer lmao you already lost
I found more use in sidestepping than blocking against that dude, same as the drunkard. just keep destroying his posture with a barrage of attacks, only stopping if I had to heal.
plays nothing like Tenchu
by the year's end we will have a dozen youtube e-celeb threads on Yea Forums posting their critique videos of Sekiro, just like we had with Dark Souls II
this game will be in everybody's Dark Souls II trash can by 2020
he isn't wrong
Good god they made another clone of dark souls? For fucks sake stop making these garbage games. Nobody can make a good hack and slash without autism. Makes me glad i'm better hen Yea Forums
wrong
>never played Tenchu
I forgot about it, you can tell how important that mechanic is to end the game.
you haven't played Tenchu
It's another Magnum Opus just like Bloodborne
Where do I find the headless dude boss
Emma is a boss?
I'm playing it with my DS4 via bluetooth in linux and I don't really notice any delay either desu. I'm thinking that other guy just sucks.
wrong
I wants you to literally sit still and spam parry, nothing else. Occasionally jump or sidestep. Don't actually attack.
No moonlight sword, no patches, only 1 armor, only 1 weapon (the supposed second weapon is just a weapon art), no spells, no covenants,
Right by the red samurai spearfaggot, there a spot out to the right where you read a note talking about turning back and how you can't behead the headless.
Keep going and there's a cave with the s p o o k y headless.
Did you find the sign talking about him? If so, just go past there and swing through up to a branch or two, and from one of them you should be able to see a spot you can jump to and grab on. From there just keep going until you can drop down into an area with a cave. In the cave at the bottom to your left is headless.
DSP is unironically 100% correct here and you're posting that to meme him. The game is sluggish as fuck and the fights are completely unfun
Does this game get easier? I was about to burst into tears fighting the Blazed Bull, I've never felt so useless in my life
an npc
what I do is I keep my distance and dodge till I recognize their animations, but yes I do get wrecked constantly
>tfw was so scared of Juzou I chipped away at his last health points with Shuriken
also, no stamina
No. The last boss is the hardest thing in the game. Godspeed.
It has one difficulty level and if you don't meet that high bar, the game basically tells you to fuck off and throws some more dragonrot on you.
It's just unfun. I feel no compulsion to return to the game at all. It feels like work instead of play.
R1R1R1R1
R2
R1R1R1
R2
For honor did this kind of combat 100 times better.
the thing about blazed bull is that you need to follow it's ass and chip away
then just parry when it is not running and chip away
But this game is actually competently made, unlike Dark Souls II. The problem is the narrow minded idiots that can't adapt their playstyles, and by criticizing this game they are actually outing themself as incometent fools. Indeed, I'm very pleased the casuals are being filtered out by the genius master Miyazaki.
Can I cheese this Sniper person via stealth on the snow mountain?
What makes the last boss so hard? How many phases? And what are your stats at the end?
I would be happy to be filtered as casual if it meant that I can get my money back, but I can't.
people are finally realizing "game that doesn't tell you SHIT about how ANYTHING works so you have to google everything just to discover half of it is needlessly obtuse and tedious" is actually garbage design now that the dust has settled and they are no longer blinded by souls' noble but extremely flawed invention of a genre
fromsoft has literally learned nothing in a decade (or maybe they've simply had their shitty design philosophy reinforced by their popularity/money and thus feel no reason to change) so their games have not improved at all. every subsequent release is a lateral shift at best. at this point I am over it, ds1 and bloodborne were just flukes, you can't depend on these fucking fromsoft japs to consistently make good games. they're all over the place.
$60 down the drain
you have not played this game
this game spams you with tutorials, the loading screen is full of tips, and the menu pauses the game
they hold your hand in this game unlike souls
I finished the game earlier, it's shit, what now
Except this game LITERALLY gives you a tutorial for EVERYTHING. Shut the fuck up, you seriously have no idea what you are talking about.
Wait, you can parry the fucking fire horn attacks?
nah, it's still the same shit, they do not effectively explain the game in the same way that the rules of a card game don't actually explain the meta or what you REALLY need to do
>and by criticizing this game they are actually outing themself as incometent fools
hurr durr if you can possibly criticize this perfect game, it must only be because ur bad
i've beaten the entire game and give it a 5/10, it's boring as fuck. the only reason i slogged through it is because I paid for it and played more than 2hours.
Does this game run like shit or is it just me, i keep getting awful fps drops in open areas, even at low settings.
I have an rx 480, but ds3 runs smooth as butter even in high settings.
The game literally has a tutorial for everything, including a repeatable training mode in the first area, allowing you to practice everything you learn.
yea
I am thoroughly enjoying the game, but I have a friend who bought it because he loves BB (doesn't like the Dark Souls trilogy at al though), and he dislikes this game because he says it's a bit too hardcore for him and it's too much work.
Of all Miyazaki's games was Bloodborne made for casuals in hindsight?
What the fuck are you talking about? Christ. It explains everything crystal fucking clear. Hell, the fucking dude in the starting area allows you to practice combat and train specific shit.
Based DSP
WOOOOOOOW
>came out yesterday
>people have already beaten it
Imagine spending $60 on something so short
I didn't think that losing i-frames was going to fuck with me so hard
shut up casual
>poor AMD shitter
As soon as you unlock a new skill/counter/whatever, you get a tutorial of it, and the immortal guy at the beginning lets you practice it over and over again.
Bloodborne and souls games give you a sense of progression. Either by stats or upgrading the weapon and armor.
You don't really get that properly in sekiro
What determines how many times you can revive? Did I miss something? Supposedly I now have three revives, but I can only revive one time.
zoomer logic
Don't play it like a Souls game, deflect/parry everything and leave dodge for only absolutely unblockable attacks.
After your free review, you need to kill an enemy to get the next
so not useful in boss fights
Lmao yes you do. You don't increase your attack/hp/whatever, but you do get to unlock skills that change a lot of the gameplay.
Is anyone else surprised by how poorly written the story was? The cutscenes often are awkwardly paced and shit. The rival felt generic and the end of the game felt like Blizzard writing or something. I'm surrpised From is so bad at writing, the lore was decent so....I figured it'd at least have a good simple story that was unique. I guess it's fairly unique but shit it's generic in the way its told
Yes. Risk free parrying from 500,000 km away and literal health regeneration for spamming. And every Souls game allows you to grind. It's even easier than Demon Souls, which was incredibly easy to begin with. I guarantee your friend is a huge casual that got away with poise tanking in other Souls games and all the dumb shit you can do in BB.
in about a week everyone is going to be like....uh....I guess we wait for the DLC now.
that's the most brain dead answer
bosses recover posture much faster than you can build it if you don't attack
the trick is to not let them breathe a second and recover
Thanks anons, I just beat butterfly bitch and found out I missed an entire boss
Lol no, DMC V has a ton of depth complexity. You first playthrough is the tutorial. Comback when you have played on harder difficulties.
It's useful if boss has 2 phases.
Sekiro is great because you get really happy when you get to upgrade your health, attack damage and arm... then you quickly realize it's all bullshit for nothing and you're still going to get fucked into the ground no matter what.
This game is just going to be one long struggle.
Prepare your anus, user.
And make sure you have some confetti or you won't be able to even touch him.
You are braindead. They made sure to give as many tutorials as possible specifically to cater to zoomers like you.
People will find any reason to complain, the game plays completely different from the other From games and once it clicks it's satisfying, but wah I can't R1 R1 Circle Circle R1 R1
Yea Forums
What's the point of trying to collect so many HP upgrades? Enemies hit for 80% of your HP a whack anyway. I'm not sure why they thought that was a good idea on a first playthrough
>Killed Blazing Bull in two tries
>Every other boss takes 30 tries
wrong, it's
>CLANG
>CLANG
>*deflect/mikiri/jump*
>CLANG
>CLANG
>*deflect/mikiri/jump*
You do realize beads also increase your max posture, which means you can hold the parry button, which gives you 100% invincibility as long as you have posture to spare, right?
You DO know what posture is, right user? You're not retarded, right?
>wireless
>complains about input lag
can't make this shit up senpai
no, because attacks in sekiro sometimes fall below 10 frames, which means they have to be predicted. It's laughable if you think you were reacting to some enemy jabs. Anything below about 1/5 of a second is typically considered unreactable, something that is usually accounted for by fighting and action game designers.
LMAO if you think some of the shoulder moves in Sekiro were meant to be reacted to. You just have to learn that enemies do it to you after a parry.
not really
it's more obvious now because they actively tried to create a plot with a defined character in this one, in previous games they got away with just world building and atmosphere with very little story so it was easy to get invested in the lore and make it up for yourself
>firecrackers
>can't beat Lady Buttercunt
Am I a casual?
Don't worry soulsborne shitters, you can wait for Code Vein.
>kill all other minibosses in 1-3 tries
>this purple nigger kills me 20+ times and causes dragonrot
>less telegraphed
>literaly the only attacks you have to reac to have sound effect and huge ass red nippon sign on screen

>get to owl
>game punishes you for parrying by making him jump away at the end of a parry chain
>literally turns into dark souls of running around and waiting for him to use his retarded easy to dodge attack

dunno but im having tons of fun with dmc5
you are until you beat her
What imput lag? I'm playing with a dualshock 3 wireless on PC and I haven't had any imput lag.
>red kanji sign
>enemy moves his weapon low to the ground, and to the side
>hmm i wonder if this 15 seconds of wind up is enough to let me know I should jump this sweep attack
I'm not even a git gud faggot because I suck, but it's not all reflexes, there are a lot of giveaways to the attacks.
He is right about the beginning
Confetti? Is that a tool or an item
>Climb up
>Aggro him
>Drop back down
>Wait a second or two
>Jump back up and sneak stab him
outninja'd
I'm so shit at this game, I have no clue who that is. I'm stuck on the dojo guy, Seven Spears and Shadow Longsword.
It's a useable item; rare drop but there should be one right before the cave.
You need to apply it or you will literally not be able to do any damage to him.
Don't worry, there will be a copy paste guy further in the game you're required to kill.
>beat that purrp nigga my first try
>die 20 times to purrp nigga in the well because the camera is an abomination in tight spaces
I had to leave. I could feel my sanity slipping away.
my mistake, was meant to guy complaining about input lag obviously.
>finally beat Genochiro that asshole and get revenge
>oh wait
>FUCKING SUPER SAIYAN MODE AND A PHRASE MORE
Holy fuck that was a nice battle bros. One of my favorite From bosses now
Genichiro's fight at the very beginning, a fight you're supposed to lose, in more fair and well designed than every single boss I've fought so far. Mainly due to the fact that his attacks are clearly telegraphed and you can just back off from his 10 mirrion hit combo after deflecting the first two attacks.
The game is bad because the enemy always sets the pace of combat, aside from trash mobs. The entire game is built around reacting, player agency is almost non-existent. There's almost no options for going on the offense.
Casuals disgusts me.
Don't put much faith into Activision + Jap dev games. This is From's Transformers: Devastation.
>Enemy drops weapon low
>it's actually stab
the game isn't actually that hard Yea Forums is full of dsp tier shitters
This fucker is a completely optional side enemy (is he even a miniboss?) in the first memory. At about the shinoby hunter area, if you go to the right and into the river, there's a path you can climb to, with a cave. Once you jump up the walls you walk into a temple where he's waiting on top and instantly aggros.
The fucker barely attacks with his sword and most of his moveset is a combo of furiously fast kicks.
>Supposed to be stealth and action
>The stealth is shit
>Brings in the Souls clunk for an action game.
Shame it released next to DMCV, that makes it look particularly bad when you compare fights
>games are just reacting to challenges
How about you try to set the pace of combat, eh? Hint hint
I like the game but I don't see myself playing this more than once 2bh. I'm at the second monk fight right now but fuck me From Software needs to stop with the fucking delayed attacks this is literally the only diffcult in this game. Every fucking nigger needs a delay in his attack pattern.
Bloodborne is the hardest Souls game, but Sekiro is way harder than any other game by nu-From so far (didn't play KF or Shadow Tower or such). I don't know what gaming god IGN paid to play the game for them because in no way is this easier than Souls. The very first proper area of the game already has enemies that are peak Souls difficulty, when Dark Souls would make you fight piss easy hollows. Also in Souls games you can always cheese the enemies if it's too tough. Shooting them with arrows from afar, stunlocking them with a heavy weapon, magic, etc. The possibilities are limitless and there's cheese methods for basically every kind of build.
Stealth isn't that bad. If you get the skills that increase the stealth (decrease detection range, silences footsteps) you can sneak up on most enemies.
If you get caught, you can also break LoS and hide away then come back for more sneakin'
>Red Kanji sign
>A split second later I'm grabbed at the enemy just one shot me GG no re
>Since I died the game is not harder, I got punished becaue of cheap shit
Truly masterful game design
>LITERALLY PRESS L1 TO WIN
I actually died to this motherfucker because my fingers got tired. How is allowed?
>Warcraft 3 is bad because the entire game is doing pre-made campaigns, you're just reacting to how the devs placed the enemies and the map features
this has got to be the hardest game for the last 2 generations.
This is honestly my one REAL issue. They removed all the things that allow me to play these games over and over (different weapons, builds and pvp)
Aight well I beat the Butterfly this morning, so unless that dude drops good items I'm not fighting that asshole.
just a deflect skill check to allow you to continue.
don't miss a parry
you can't get posture broken if you deflect i believe
>attack boss on my own terms
>do zero damage to their posture or health
>instead I have to wait an arbitrary amount of time for the boss to allow me the favor of hitting them
iirc there's a ninjatool in the house he's chillin on
>rushes in
>hits an enemy
>enemy parries
>while being attacked, tries to "muh invincible dodge" out of his own fucked up situation
>gets rightfully killed
>gets triggered
>questions life worth of people who play difficult games because they play difficult games
>rant about how he doesn't understand the concept of attack/dodge/jump after like 2 hours of gameplay
>rants about how a boss has more hp than a normal enemy
>rants about how the game punishes him for fucking up and thus it is not "fun"
and then there are people like these faggots
who defend such a failure
you can hold L1
That's funny, this bitch is almost impossible if you don't play extremely aggressive.
literally the coolest prosthetic.
>Directly throw shit at an enemy to lure them over
>Instead of throwing it somewhere and having them investigate
>Get skill points, gold and items from enemies so you are actually punished if you try to sneak by people. You know, like a stealth game
>Swaths of forced combat sections.
>Enemies forget you exist after 15 seconds
>Can sneak attack a guy, run off then sneak attack them again
>Guards don't investigate when another guard goes missing
>No way to knock or whistle to lure someone you MUST use a consumable.
>And the cherry on the cake
>Stealth bushes
The stealth in this is awful
this is correct. if you parry you lose 0 posture
if you git gud you can completely overpower every enemy in the game with infinite stamina and virtual invincibility
holding block will get you GBed in a matter of seconds
You forgot the most important part:
>allows himself to get cornered by two enemies
if you keep attacking the bosses they won't have room to do their combos, and you get easy deflects and slowy raise their pose damage.
I actually had an easier time with her dodging and charge stabbing every now and again for first form. haven't gone back again since i was getting my shit pushed hard so i decided to try progressing elsewhere.
Being slow and locked into every animation works for souls. This game has even more spastic enemies than bloodborne, but unlike bloodborne your swings are slow and you do no damage.
I just beat her actually, and the only real options you have for dealing with her are attacking her out of a dodge or throwing a shuriken at her as she leaves a wire. Attacking her without her having done something first guarantees you no progress.
>spamming L1
>skill check
pick one
he breaks your posture on his last attack, the other attacks never break it and he has a big enough delay between his last attack and his next spams.
I don't think so.
what does it do? I tried using it and it just puts me above the enemy when they attack me? how is that useful or worth spending spirit emblems on
It's kinda interesting- the mobs will react if they see a downed enemy, but I don't know if they actually do anything.
clang clang her and she won't start combos and usually the third clang makes her counter and you get deflects that raise pose damage.
The game just doesn't excel in any field. I can't say it has good stealth, good combat or good traversal. We're all just playing it because we're fiending for that classic Miyazaki soulsborne-experience that kicks us in the balls.
posture is the gayest and dumbest shit they have ever made. Worse than adp
shouldve kept old parries but instead having to parry like 3 times in a row for a reliable guard break instead of spmming 100 deflects
the timing isn't steady on his attacks, sure you cant beat him spamming and hit most of them, but to deflect all you need to time it.
>played for honor after playing sekiro all day
>made me really want a for honor RPG
the combat is just so fucking good compared to this. parries and blocks are actually meaningful
nah
You can 1-2-3 hit her, then sidestep just as she's about to attack.
Also, I don't know if I missed something, but who the fuck stabbed Wolf after killing Granny. Was it an illusion?
push stick to move to direction. The shurike slash upgrade also applies to it so you can strike after.
>Wants to encourage the player to explore
>But because they removed the RPG elements, theres nothing to find but pointless consumables you will never use.
>Cool posture system to freshen up gameplay
>But you still die if you get hit too much despite enemies being immortal until their posture is broken.
>Introduce neat mechanic of chopping shields in half
>Literally impossible to kill shield guys unless you use shinobi gear- like medival knights can kick shields away but fucking NINJAs can only brute force them.
>Despite being a NInja, you have no consistent way of dealing with groups of enemies. All you can do is the tried and true Souls strat of backing away and poking
>Despite Nioh having answered this problem with stances dedicated to wide slashes to hit many people.
>Convuluted as all fuck story where Miyazaki refuses to tell you anything.
Im just not having any fun yet. Just feels like they didn't know what they wanted this game to be
they'll just insta spot you from yellow state you they even peek you.
It's the feathers prosthetic, right?
Basically a nothing personnel, kid move you can use to avoid damage and appear behind enemies.
>clang clang clang clang x10
>boss starts cinematic anime moves that you have to move away from
>regens all posture and erases 5 minutes of fight progress
ebin
>that sword...
>looks familiar...
Yes. With a handful of skills unlocked, you're way more powerful. Ashina passives, deathblow to restore health (in shinobi tree). Plus a couple of prayer beads, and you never have to worry about dying.
It has the best level design and story. The game is also so utterly nonlinear that I wonder where the hell was this Miyazaki in Dark Souls 3's development.
post more kino boss
pro tip: you can't
you don't have to move away ever if you counter everything well
apart from grabs, some of them just have broken hitboxes
Game is good for 2 hours, then you realize its a parry simulator with very generous windows and everything gets trivialized.
Thanks for the heads up!
Cuz it's trash.
> you do little damage
> boss can 1-2 shot you
> same indicator for all unblockables
> hard to read animations
> exploring is boring
> no customization
> tons of fodder before boss
I love challenge, but this shit is straight up unbalanced and frustrating. 2 hours of progress felt like 24.
You can parry (practically?) anything that is not a perilous attack.
For it feels not rewarding at all. Like I kill a boss wew got another +1 attack power. kill 4 mini bosses, wow more HP. The skills suck so fucking much and are just plain. Atleast the other games had weapons and you could tailor around them what you wanna do but here it's the same shit till the end.
it's time for you to
G I T G U D
I T G U D
T G U D
G U D
U D
D
Stuff like this is easy as fuck
Stuff that actually punishes you for parrying is annoying
So, the more I see of the game the more I like it. It gives me major tenchu x ninja gaiden vibes. Or maybe Otogi or Genji: Dawn of the Samurai is a better example (especially for combat). The only problem I have with it is a lot of the later game bosses are a huge fucking parry slog since bosses seldom get flinched or affected by statuses like minibosses, and the optional bosses are pure cancer.
Also, the fucking Japanese toottoo flute music wears on you after a while
Literally fucking how.
>Go through some burning village memory
>Get to boss
>Its a fat asian drunkard who spits posion
>Oh and hes surrounded by 30 bandits
>And some of them have shields, you have no way to deal with this
>Oh and some shoot arrows
>BTW we put in this NPC to help you but he dies after ten seconds
This is like Dark Souls 2 level game design
Every complain about this kino game has been so fat DSP game journo tier
>"waaah its to hard its not fun"
>"wow i literally pressed it"
>very generous window
Wrong, you are probably defending the attacks instead of deflecting them
>>Literally impossible to kill shield guys unless you use shinobi gear- like medival knights can kick shields away but fucking NINJAs can only brute force them.
Dodge around the shield if you don't have the axe.
>And some of them have shields, you have no way to deal with this
LMAO he doesn't know
where do i get the mushin esoteric text
Fuck. I can't belive how hyped I was for this shit since E3. I was literally dreaming about playing this and got this.. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
Bad example, hes doing the same clearly telegraphed move that you only have to deflect twice in succession. Virtually every other enemy will have a 15 hit combo, each with different timings. Then to top it off begin an unblockable that you'll likely be in the middle of an animation for and get hit by.
My only complaint is it’s a lot harder to learn boss patterns since everything moves so much faster; you can’t really study the patterns like you could in Soulsborne so it ends up in a lot of frustrating learning deaths.
The negativity is like a spirit bomb for me. The more is see the bitching, the more I wanna play. I cant understand why ppl dont accept it's a different game. From the jump it was made clear it lacked the freedom DS3 and BB had and when making a linear game you have to make shit tighter, that's a no brainer. I've seen gameplay and it honest to god doesnt look THAT tough, I dont have the game but it just looks like staying on your enemies ass and not letting up. The only thing I'm wary about is that dying and getting rot fucks up the storyline and that maybe the game has no replay value past beating it once (which most games suffer from and its fucking annoying), but other than that it looks fun if you're willing to have patience. If anyone has any in depth reasons why it isnt fun then let me know cause all I'm seeing is
>wahh boss kills me too much
>muh iframe dependance
>fashion souls bitch bitch bitch
But other than those shallow reasons it looks really fun if you dont expect shit just cause it's from FROMSOFT
Did you deflect both attacks or just the first and block the second, cause your posture took a beating on each one.
fucking japs and their paraparas
I keep shitposting about it to keep plebs out of the game so I can feel special when I'm one of the few who likes it.
Consumables are pretty useless except for farming, yeah
Shield guys can be. Ircke staged easy and seriously just use the fucking axe it costs 3 hearts
Use combat arts for multiple enemies also don't rush in and get surrounded
The story isn't convoluted at all it's pretty straight forward and concrete for a FROM game
Explore the temple, there's a prosthetic upgrade (which you can eavesdrop on) that gives you an axe allowing you to completely destroy shields in one hit.
double, if you deflect one you eat the second hit
that's not even the boss of that area.
wireless bluetooth has less input delay than wired. you're absolutely retarded.
To be fair, it does seem to be a bigger window than Souls games, but it probably makes sense considering there's no i-frame dodging and the gameplay revolves around deflecting attacks.
Any source on dodge not having any iframes?
I swear threre's some.
Dude, it's not linear..
The shinobi hunter in the memory was the first guy to kill me fully, I have the counter but I'm just fucking up because every hit two shots me so I'm playing like a passive bitch even though I know that's what's killing me. Send help.
well you need to heal eventually and also when you die they regen posture at crazy rate so sometimes I feel like resurrection mechanic is worthless and just choose death. Id unironically rather have 3 more estuses than a shitty revive
Like maybe one frame
It's piss easy if you use your brain. You're a shinobi, not a braindead barbarian
>want to buy it
>not even able to beat Pontiff something
I'm in for a bad time aren't I
It's fun, most people here expected DaS 4 and now complain for same shit they'd laughed at people complaining about DaS.
yes
Killing off NPCs for dying is so fucking spiteful.
>there's no iframes
>but only like one
how many do you need? the whole animation?
>learn boss patterns
nigga just deflect. there is NOTHING to learn. just deflect and every single boss is a bitch. red sign? dodge. everything else is block or deflect. the bosses are also super retarded. the dude on the roof would never block or even react when I just circled him.
spoiler tag that shit faggotron
There are iframes on dodge, dunno about jump. I noticed fighting the gaijin, you can ghost his sword if you time the dodges.
I did this on accident while dodging back.
Felt cheap.
keeping npcs alive is piss easy though as you can cure them many times.
REEE WHY DO PEOPLE NOT LIKE A FRUSTRATING GAME REEE
No you're not, Shinobis used tools. This fucking retard is a meat headed ronin whose first answer is to stab everything with his sword.
>Literally impossible to kill shield guys unless you use shinobi gear- like medival knights can kick shields away but fucking NINJAs can only brute force them.
you can attack them and parry their shield bash when they retaliate, which breaks their posture
you'd know this if you played the game
World Tendency is a neat concept, but they really fucked it up here.
Thankfully (or not) I don't give an ounce of a fuck about any character in this game so they can all rot and die for all I care.
For a game that's supposed to be more about the story and whatnot they sure don't like giving you a reason to care.
Deflect is the new dodge.
and then the enemy crabs show up
Nah, defending still damages your posture and doesn't hurt your enemy's. The difference between block and deflect is obvious, and either the parry window in Sekiro is huge compared to DS or the lack of windup/recovery time trivializes it.
It happens in the first memory, it's not really a spoiler because it technically happened 3 years before the game starts.
Is it just me or is dodge countering total ass? I tried practicing it with the undying guy at the start but most of the time I dodge either too close and get hit, or too far and I'm unable to do the counter.
The people that are enjoying/playing the game arent on Yea Forums
Does this actually happen, pretty sure bell bitch and her son don't count and die regardless
I tried cheesing him that way, but as soon as I climbed back up, he instantly spotted be again.
So when is the ACTUAL samurai kino game coming out?
>Game revolves around getting upgrades for your prosthetics so you can stun fuckers, chop through their shit, rip off their armor, and light them on fire
>hurr durr stab everything
>same indicator for all unblockables
This is the most retarded complain about the game.
Same as people whining about Hollow Knight's map.
I just ran by grabbed it and dipped honestly
It came out Friday, user.
Keep working with Hanbei. Dodge countering is great and necessary for some bosses - it's one of the most reliable ways to do direct vitality damage, and some bosses recover posture way too fast at full vitality.
How so?
try dodging to the side and not away, dumbass
hint: no, the enemies don't track you every time. you just dodge too early before they even launch the attack
Who is he?
This
>having to actually look at the enemy animation is BAD
Here's how I did the drunkard
>Defeat his lackeys with sword and axe
>Run away and hide
>Sneak attack the drunkard
>Run to the guy who helps me
>2v1 against drunkard while throwing oil on him to light him on fire
How is this just stabbing?
It's not arcady enough to be fun (Shinobi, Ninja Gaiden, Metal Gear Rising), it has no build/gameplay variety (Nioh, DMC) and the exploration isn't as fun as it is in Souls. It's a weird mess of a game.
Sekiro isn't Samurai. It's shinobi.
It's more like DaS 3 level of linear.
>beat well purple
>nigger with the lance by the pagoda rams my cornhole in.
A lot of the dodgeable attacks have narrow hitboxes, so the best advice I can give you is to sidestep instead of dodging away.
>don't actually attack
Confirmed shitter.
You need to attack if you want to down certain enemies, otherwise posture just goes down too quick.
Genichiro is literally 10x easier if you just attack until you need to deflect or mikiri or jump. Constantly attack.
>Should I sneak passed these guys like a ninja since they arent my target?
>Nah I'd lose exp, money or items if I did that and thus would be punished for it
>Better stab em all
>Wow that guy is shooting me with arrows
>I should run at him flailing my sword
>What? Use a bow? What am I some kind of ninja who has a tool for every problem?
>Whoa man that Ogre is pretty big
>Should I use my ninja skills to sneak up behind him, free him, and move to the next area while he wreaks havoc on enemy forces?
>Nah ill just fight him, not like he targets enemies anyway.
Nah man, this guy is a ronin masqerading as a ninja
and how is this fun? You're supposed to kill him kino style with parries and shit, but this is pure trash cheese. I'm not blaming you, From clearly fucked it up
tfw grinded 9 hours to get every skill 3 hrs into the game and still lose
>Heres how I did the drunkard...
>I cheated by exploiting the broken AI
This guy gets it. I swear people complaining here playing like DaS and waiting for bosses to initiate.
It's not even that hard. Once you learn how to play the actual game it's like playing Dark Souls 1 in terms of difficulty.
>Samurai is a wh*toid gaijin
Immersion ruined
you dont neeed any of the upgrades.
Complete opposite is true, game wants you to be on the constant offensive, leaving enemies very little breathing room.
So you can go to past levels to gain exp?
DSP is right and suckiro fanboys can suck a dick
white boys stay winning
Not him but it's kinda legit because sometimes either the camera is shit or your character is blocking the enemy so you might as well just guess what animation is coming up. The amount of times I've fought a (mini)boss up near a wall and get fucked because I literally can't see what they're doing...
souls babbys everyone
Enjoyed Nioh more than Sekiro so far. but it will hold me over till Nioh 2 is out
Ghosts of Torisuna looks pretty boring
You can't compare a game with the variety of weapon types, postures, combos, skills and play styles with Sekiro.
Yes, Sekiro can be really hard, but does it offer something more than that?
I think you're completely wrong on the "difficulty balance", you just suck.
But yeah, the PS4 version is straight fucking garbage
Horrible excuse when you have other games actually be stable. But when it's from it's okay and it's just "le ebin console fault argument" instead of it just being because From is an inept developer that has great ideas, but only decent execution and a complete lack of skill in actually fixing more technical issues, optimizing and making an actual good camera (like seriously, Sekiro has the same camera troubles Demon's Souls has)
>Using your brain and game mechanics to give yourself an edge over the opponent?? That's corny cheap shit!!!
This isn't a fucking samurai game, you're not supposed to just run up to your enemy and kill him in a 1v1 fight. You have a fucking skill tree focused on sneaking
HAHAHAHA LITERALLY "SHITTERS UNITE"
The input lag isn't on every single action, dumb ass. Some have more or less than others. Also parrying having input lag wouldn't even matter because it has such a large window to perform. IT's very lenient with its window of opportunity.
Am I still gonna suck if I'm used to playing fromsoft games like bloodborne but not really caring about the gun?
serious question pls no bully
artificial difficulty
>Whines about fanboys while simultaneously sucking off DSP's gout-ridden cock
Cry harder
>no stats or builds
Are you dumb?
>This isn't a fucking samurai game, you're not supposed to just run up to your enemy and kill him in a 1v1 fight. You have a fucking skill tree focused on sneaking
And this is why Sekiro sucks. Nioh was so much better. Besides you could be a powerful ninja there as well.
maybe
I do level 1 plays of souls games but apparently I'm doing worse in sekiro than most people here.
She's pretty easy, she has huge wind-ups to the start of her combos so when you see her begin get ready and just take note of the pattern her attacks hit your block, then replicate that next time for the deflects.
yes
Nobody will ever give a shit about the pile of shit called Nioh, seethe more.
> Cry harder
But you're the one who's sad over some dudes post here
a-alright
Sekiro is way better.
never played a game by those guys whose name I forget but at this point I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Ghosts of Sushi had better sword duels and stealth than Sekiro.
These games are 100% work and people who actually enjoy this garbage have nothing significant in their lives to put effort into. SORRY.
The game literally has enormous huge pop up tutorials that tell you exactly how the game works.
...
> being so mad over videogames
MWAHAHAHAHAHA! Pathetic manchild
DSP fanboys like you are the ones throwing a fit the second someone laughs at him
Cry harder, faggot
How do I tell if it's a sweeped or a swung?
inb4 memorize every moveset in the game
sounds like you're too deep in he DaS play style. it's not a souls game in how you approach combat as people have already said
>better sword duels and stealth than Sekiro.
Not aiming very high there user
So, you really have just one attack buttom that make always the same attacks?
It really seems the so glorified gameplay is just a parry mini-game.
but that's literally what you're supposed to do
> ABLOO BLOO BLOO
the fuck are you saying? Put that cock out of your mouth, whiny faggot lmao
He's right in the fact the game feels a lot more like work than fun. A challenge is fun but a game like this far surpasses a challenge and goes into the realm of just too much work required in playing very lowly and patiently as you learn dozens of attacks to then try and play pixel perfect, which for the vast majority of people loses any sense of accomplishment and enjoyment from succeeding, and instead turns into just a brief moment of relief of "thank fuck that's over". Only to then repeat it all again.
DSP is still a colossal retard who is genuinely garbage at video games and bitches 99% of the time over his own mistakes and blames the game instead of taking responsibility.
Nioh was pretty fun. I enjoyed it the combat more than DS1-3, but DS had better enemy variety and environmental design. I'm looking forward to Nioh 2. I'm also enjoying Sekiro quite a bit.
animation?
>slow parry
You can literally press l1 the moment you get hit and it parries. What the fuck are you on about
I was just being a dick, user. I haven't played Nioh so I can't really compare it.
the parry animation is slow
Atleast that means you can grind a bit
I created another thread about this but here is my opinion.
In their attempt to make a challenging game, they made it overly restrictive and thus feel dated.
I am assuming this was to reduce the balancing required in modern action games. I just get a vibe that there is a angry asian dad screaming into my ear, "YOU PRAY MY WAY!"
Now with game companies attempting to make combat varied and fun, by expanding the players options from weapons, armor, and abilities. Sekiro's combat has been reduced to a formulaic style of battle that has quick-time elements as finishers.
I'm sure many will enjoy this game, but most will find it lacking in variety and substance.
This may be an instance were the players eventually realize that all of these features were the staples of games from nearly a decade ago and have been done better.
Ninja Gaiden+Prince of Persia+Assassins creed
What does Sekiro offer to be better than Nioh, that is a game with far more options for the player?
>From Software only makes Souls/Souls clone games
>No more Armored Core games
it's literally instant the moment you press it.
You can tell by the animation when they pull back.
As soon as you see the Kanji sign, you can kinda tell if the enemy is pulling their weapon back or to the side (thrust vs sweep)
It's really good but the dust won't settle for a long time. People are SEETHING.
?
It's encouraged with consumables that boost money etc drops.
If you enjoy this game you're underaged or a NEET, people who actually do something worth a damn in their lives wouldn't waste their limited free time with such a chore of a game. They missed the mark here, I'm sorry to say.
>mfw no armored souls or dark core
Enemy design, environment design, level design, mobility/traversal.
"Put that cock out of your mouth" he says, vehemently defending a shitty streamer
God, the deliberate lack of self-awareness from retards like you is hilarious
Keep crying. I'm sure you're scoring all those Big Boy Points with DSP this way by whiteknighting for him on Yea Forums
It really really really isn't THAT hard. Not trying to shit post like you.
I know, I've had enough time to adjust. I'm not good at deflecting though, everything is too fast for my eyes, I can't tell what the enemies are doing, and I'm hit by every single sweep.
I beat the seven star spear guy and now I'm at a wall.
That's the joke.
a week ago I would have laughed at the idea, but a cinematic AAA Snoy game might actually make better stealth and dueling than Sekiro.
The story is better, you can jump, the graphics are better, and the combat is way more fun and more challenging.
>REEEE ITS NOT SOULS
(you)
and combat
Because you play as the worst goddamn ninja alive
>Get training from the greatest masters
>Still fuck up keeping a child from being kidnapped
>Get your master killed
>Wear bright orange in the fucking moonlight
You're like the equivalent of a trust fund kid who used his free ride to Harvard on squeaking out his Gender Studies BA with straight Ds while coasting on bong rips at the chushy CIA job your dad got you.
Honestly for me it's about the world I didnt like niohs mission style I like to wander and explore and stuff. It was fun but I like how from software builds their worlds with checkpoints and shortcuts and secrets.
I wanted ninja kino, instead I got samuraishit
It's not that different. Imagine spamming R1 with the saw cleaver. Now instead of doing that while pressing dodge whenever the enemy attacks to keep mashing R1, you instead press block (occasionally jump or dodge). You have more tricks up your sleeve, and multiple defensive options with differences that matter, but at the core the game still rewards bloodborne-style bullying enemies to death while using those defensive tools offensively to maintain pressure. The biggest difference is that Bloodborne had a much larger margin of error because of the sheer amount of healing you carried (effectively 9 full life bars).
The problem is that it very much has the DNA of souls in every inch of this game but they tried to build another game ontop of that and it just doesn't work
You can't bring the clunk of souls into what is supposed to be an action game
I like both Nioh and Sekiro and think they scratch different itches and are good in their own ways
Aside from being samurai games the two really aren't as comparable as people make them out to be
If you're agressive, most of the time you don't have to react to enemies.
2-3 lights usually and they will counter attack which you can predict depending on the enemy and again.
well shit I play BB so recklessly and aggressively I often come close to running out of vials on bosses
>FINALLY give World Tendency another try
>it's somehow worse than in Demon's Souls
Thanks From, I hate it.
I agree. A game being difficult does not save it from being bad, it only reduces it to being a novelty.
I'm loving it so far. Might end up being my favourite Miyazaki title
I knew this game was gonna be a piece of shit when I saw the NPCs lips sync to their dialogue
You are retarded and it feels like you haven't even played the game.
I'm 16 hours in and i just idk man not into it yet
I agree that Sekiro is harder, everything else is a matter of taste.
It's a fact, though, that Nioh has way more weapons, build possibilities, combos and skills.
It's not a chore because it's not THAT hard. I'm not great at games and I'm getting though it. It's tough, but you're given options to explore, get some upgrades and try again later. You're also given fair room for error with mandatory bosses. Again, I'm not great at game and I slip up a fair few times, and I'm still able to scrape through battles.
They inarguably scratch very similar itches. But they're both good, agreed.
bosses in these types of games end up having way too much fucking health when you get far into them. it's so boring. it was fine in dark souls because you yourself could be a turtle and play a patient game. but for something like this or nioh where you have to go full aggro and you die in 1-2 hits but your boss fight takes 10 minutes, it's so obnoxious and unfun.
Armored Core has been shit since Project Phantasma. I sure hope no new one ever sees the light of day.
It's just not very good. The combat doesn't add enough to justify getting rid of weapon variety, the atmosphere isn't there, the story is boring and fails to grab you, the stealth feels annoying and tacked on, and the posture system doesn't feel satisfying.
It's ok, but not very good
I get you and I think that's a truly valid opnion, although, Nioh has a little bit of that, in every mission you open shortcuts and can rest at checkpoints. The maps aren't directly connected, though, which can be less immersive.
>60 fps lock despite relying on ridiculously short telegraph animations
>input buffer lag out the ass
>camera spazzing out with or without lock on
>item slots you can't bind to simple number keys
>item slots that loop endlessly so if you need a particular item you have to look away from the enemy trying to slice and dice you
>enemies perfectly tracking through your dodges
>while your character manages to miss simple swings despite being locked on and in range
>thrust counter being the same button combination as dodging forward
half the difficulty comes from fighting the engine and its terrible design choices
I enjoy it because of the amount of tension it creates. You're given a revive (if not multiple) and numerous healing items, so it's not like the game is fucking with you.
well that bull fight is tedious as FUCK and badly designed
I'm not far enough to know all the bullshit stuff though
It's annoying how almost everytime an enemy has to die with
>FINISHING MOVE YOUR RIFERINE END HERE ------
Seriously, especially with the annoying fodder they throw at some (mini)bosses it can fuck your positioning pretty hard. I can't be a swift shinobi with that kind of shit
Don't play it like Souls. Patience isn't the name of the game, it's aggression. Keep attacking them and don't let them get any breathing room. This game is all about breaking their posture, not just knocking away their health.
Yes but it's less fun regardless. The way you do damage is still pleb tier Souls where you can circle strafe and chip away damage, it's less engadging than Sekiro which has the posture system and stealth. Sekiro's abilites and what not are also pretty good compared to Niohs which didn't mesh into the core gameplay as nicely.
>Walk in
>Clear out adds
>Walk out and lose aggro
>Walk back in to stealth attack strong enemy/boss
You can do this shit for every single mini-boss or strong enemy type(that mob with the bell for example).
what the FUCK were they thinking? This shit is absolutely retarded
you are literally invincible during it
it feels like you speedread my post
I KNOW it's not like souls. I'm saying I don't like how it is. getting 1-shot by tanky bosses isn't fun gameplay for me. some of these bosses in sekiro and in nioh take SOOOOOO fucking LONG to kill, the fight is long past interesting or engaging but it just keeps GOING
It's almost like it's intentional or something.
but you are a shinobi
ur mom's a shinobi
>what the FUCK were they thinking? This shit is absolutely retarded
regardless of whether or not it's intentional, it's absolutely retarded
not every boss is michiro, if you spam R1 against fatmen they will buttfuck you
F
They don't take long to kill at all, breaking their posture with deflects and attacks is way faster than dodging and chipping away at their health in Souls.
gti gud
yes my mommy wife is a shinobi
What's From faggot ass "action queue" thing called? Stored inputs? Because I swear that bullshit is in this as well.
lmao
And? It still fucks with your positioning.
what problems are you having with it? sounds like youre just bad
Sekiro does exploration better because outside of the kodamas there isn't nearly as much incentives to explore in Nioh. Sekiro's branching paths and souls-ish world design, plus the grappling hook, is much much much more focused on exploration than Nioh's mission menus
Meanwhile Nioh has a huge emphasis on almost diablo-esque loot and disseminating stats by autistically grinding legendary weapons and fucking about in the forge
Whenever someone uses the term 'inarguably', they're almost always wrong
>Why the die twice gimmick
I'm wondering that too. Everything kills you in one hit anyway, just make the player able to take more than one hit.
why did this make me laugh
I think that's really what it is. The combat was very well executed though which is probably still enough reason to check out the second one.
My blogpost so far
>get all the way to Genichiro at the top of the castle, get consistently owned
>8 sips in my gourd
>got all prosthetics
>have 3 attack
Game feels unrewarding, setting is shit, Souls DNA still ingrained in the game so there's a bit of burnout factor as well, and the only reason I keep going is because I want to beat it and then tell Yea Forums it's shit without a rain of "git gud".
>thrust counter being the same button combination as dodging forward
you're hitting circle way too fucking early if this is a problem. The counter window is gigantic
They really should've gone full character action with this and just have like 5 difficulty levels. I feel like the game would be beloved by pretty much everyone that way.
how the fuck did you get 8
and how the FUCK are you still dying to him lmao
you shuld only use 1-2 in the first round, you are really bad brother
DSP actually did ok surprisingly. Complaining and blaming the game the whole way through of course
He never said he was losing or having a hard time with the boss.
post video of you beating him with a timestamp
no it's not lol he sorta slowly raises the sword up, it's far from "instant"
Yea Forums is honestly contrarian as fuck in regards to this game. DMC5 fucking sucked and Sekiro is awesome but it doesn't seem like it looking at these threads.
>hit hit hit parry hit hit parry hit hit parry hit hit parry hit hit parry hit hit parry
>if she jumps into the air instead of the roundhouse kick, go afk until she comes back down
>hit hit hit parry hit hit parry hit hit parry
>repeat for 2 posture bars
>stand behind a pillar when all the shadowfuckers disappear
This boss was such fucking absolute reeking dogshit, it makes me mad how bad, boring and annoying this piece of shit was. How is such a repetitive, boring, shitty boss in a FROM game?
And yet they both scratch very similar itches.
I did say he consistently owns me
Yea Forums is contrarian to a lot of shit
Yea Forums as a whole fuels itself with contrarianism
Nioh does not scratch the exploration itch
Sekiro does not scratch the loot itch
You are incorrect, and possibly mentally unsound
yes he did retard
someone made a webm showing how easy round 1 should be but I didn't save it. did you even get to round 2 yet?
Well you do end up doing crazy ninja shit in both
You could just shuriken her when she's in the air, or do a jump attack.
Phase two you can use a snap seed on the illusions.
Both scratch the very similar precise melee action combat itch.
And then get back to hit hit hit parry hit hit parry hit hit parry, what a great boss
