Bethesda, next question.

Prey 2 and this game are completely unrelated. Arkane wanted to make an immersive sim and the requirement for Bethesda allowing them to do that was to take the name Prey that was at that time just sitting around getting no use

It was alright. Would have liked to see more from the electronic enemies/more enemy variants in general though

kino opening tho

Prey 2017 humans vs Prey 2006 Sphere: Who wins?

>Prey 2 and this game are completely unrelated.
Wow thanks Cap for station the obvious

Sphere got wiped out by an Alcoholic, I think we got this.

I fell for this meme of a game due to the hyped trailers. Fuck bethesda and fuck Arkane.

The trailers were the worst part of the marketing, what are you on about?

>singleplayer game
>dying
does not compute

That alcoholic also had the power of american indian spiritual powers to assist him. Then again, neuromods can be quite powerful.

Go fuck yourself

>Transtar sends firewater.
>Tommy unleashed.

So did the themes of the story lose all meaning the moment you find out your not even remotely human?

Also that press x to kill everyone at the end continued to kill the story.

Are you braindead by chance?

I liked it more than bioshock

but I just masturbated

>literally died
>single player game died
I want twitch culture and everyone who cannot think for themselves or god forbid enjoy a fucking video game without a corporate tactic dropping in front of their face to appease their fucking adhd with skins and colors to die of fucking sepsis god fucking damn I mad

>>awesome concept of Prey 2 died for this
It was going to be a cinematic cover shooter, you mongoloid.

Reminder that Human head made 'The quiet man' And anyone that thinks Prey 2 would have been good are fucking retarded.

>>boring and uninspiring Bioshock clone

>literally nothing like bioshock (apart from some superficial aspects) and far more similar to system shock
>an actual immersive sim, unlike bioshock

no it wasnt

>bioshock clone
>bioshock
Bioshock is a pile of niggershit compared to nu-Prey, which is an SS2 clone, you dump ape.

?

explain

Bioshock is like System Shock.

>no it wasnt
Go look at those gameplay videos. Everything is super scripted and most of the gameplay consists of hiding behind chest high walls.

easy to get excited for a cancelled game that just had a trailer of fake gameplay and smoke n mirrors. imagine if the same shitposting existed back then where everyone complained about prey 2 having nothing to do with the original prey. keep crying losers.

>>literally nothing like bioshock

Attached: 1533262769053.jpg (1224x1445, 247K)

>Bioshock is like System Shock.
Not even remotely. Ultra-linear level design, loadouts instead of permanent character building choices, no real systems, no inventory, full of scripted setpieces, etc.

>boring and uninspiring Bioshock clone
It's a real Immersive Sim so it's inherently better, Bioshock wish it was one

>literally died within few months after release
It's on its road to become a cult classic

>awesome concept of Prey 2 died for this
Prey 2 looked like a boring Ubisoft-tier openworld.

>Why.
You have shit tastes

Would the sphere even bother with the Typhon?

>no real systems
I meant to say "no real rpg systems" here

user, a spiritual successor does not mean what you think it means in this context.

Guys how about we throw rocks at the part that deserves it.

Attached: prey.jpg (460x215, 31K)

Oh look it's the contrarian fucker again who thinks that his opinions are facts. People liked the game and people want a sequel. I'm sorry that the company decided to can Prey 2. Other than that get fucked.

Bioshock was way to linear, I liked preys approach more. Levels were neat too its just the story that sucked total massive balls and led absolutely nowhere otherwise i found the exploration part to be satisfying despite making no real progress except for stupid level ups. No i think i really liked the game, 5,5/10

This. The closest Bioshock came to legit exploration for me was the Farmer's Market. You know the one where you collect the parts for the plant-killer or whatever. I think you pretty much use every skill you got to the point to find all that shit.

You fell for a bunch of reaction vids of noname streamers hahaha

In regards to Bioshock, Prey's plot wasn't thaaaaaaat bad.

I liked the garden, some rooms outside one could only reach through shafts, most of the generic sci fi rooms and some of the damaged. I disliked the more opened ones because of the ability to spot enemies from afar. I would welcome it if they went the dead space route with tight, mazelike level design should a next game be made

>choice at the end relates to whether the alien (you, the player) has any empathy towards fake NPCs
>the type of gamer that makes the most ridiculous face possible in any game with a character creator, picks only silly dialog choices, kills innocent NPCs for laughs and so on translates into the alien killing everybody at the end just as that type of gamer would
>the type of gamer that takes things slow, follows quest and lore threads for all the NPCs and goes out of their way to get the best possible outcome for everyone gets the compassionate ending
>"durt de hurrrr everything I did was pointless!!!"

It was OK but nothing special

The game was great easily my favorite game of 2017 and in my top 5 games in the last 5 years.
Although I wish they utilized the 6-degrees of freedom combat a lot more and made the Typhon powers more interesting, by the end I was just using Psychoshock+Thermal and that's it, only switching it up for electric shit for robots.

I enjoyed it. Of that year it was one of the better titles all around.

Also prey 2 was long dead before this.

how did it die months after release? It's not multiplayer and it got dlc last year.

Nope

>I would welcome it if they went the dead space route with tight, mazelike level design should a next game be made

>dead space
>mazelike design
What bizarro world do you live in? The Dead Space games have some of the blandest, most straightforward level design ever.

Bethesda are faggots, they wanted the devs so badly they were willing to sink them to obtain them. Greedy corporate shitheads.

Yes..and?

prey 1 was bad, prey 2 looked boring. Glad it died

how do i get into it? i've played two hours but it doesn't really drag me into it and the crafting system is weird, i have no shotgun ammo and i can't craft em.. using just a pistol or goo+wrench isn't super fun

>Nightmare is an absolute rape monster of horror in trailers
How would you keep it as a terrifying encounter that makes players NOPE.jpg most of the time?

The more you play the more options you get, it generally doesn't take that long to get more stuff.

The nightmare really, really needed to be able to follow you into narrow spaces rather than being a big lumbering monster. And rapidly evolve resistances to the methods you previously used to beat it.

it's possible to dupe resources, if you put .01 (or any amount) into the first part of a recycler, save, then load, it will round every small piece you added into 1 whole block

>follow you into narrow spaces
What if it permanently broke doors? I think that'd be pretty spoopy if you think you could cheese it and suddenly it tears apart or forces doors open, breaking the mechanical parts so they can't close at least until you fix them.

Hey, buddy. This is one of my top games.

prey was a great game one of a small few i've bothered to beat in the past few years. the story was cool and didn't get in the way, there are many different ways to play (one of the cool ones i saw was using morph ability to become a towel so you could fit into a pass-thru slot in an office window), and the environment was fun to explore. there were some problems with combat not being very dynamic or engaging, but that aspect wasn't bad, it just wasn't great like the rest of the game.

That would be a start, it was just too big to get around the station effectively. If it was the size of a phantasm it would be way more dangerous just from that alone, even if it couldn't teleport like they can.

The game was great, and I fucking loved it. Plus Yea Forums had been bitching about a lack of system shock like games and ofc this comes out and the majority of threads were
>wow wtf a system shock like game, fucking original
>lmao who wanted this shit? This is just space bioshock
They get exactly what they want yet they still proceed to bitch about it because Yea Forums autists can never be happy.
The game was fantastic, in fact I'm going to play it again very soon.

thats out?

It's pretty easy to spot people who only played the Bioshock games and not the System Shock one's.

I loved it and it was the Bioshock 3 I never got

Why would a developer who's entire history has been fps switch to making a yakuza style beat em up? Who's fucking idea was this?

Attached: 1494458570341.gif (660x520, 2.56M)

prey was one of the very best games from 2017.
all the self-pitying fellatio you people are committing over the frankly shitty gameplay videos of prey 2 is nostalgia for that which never was nor would have been.

Prey 2006 was a generic fps, nothing of value was lost

It is and it's dead. You might be able to find a room, neat idea implemented lazily. I think they were using it to test VR.

Attached: vr.jpg (1920x1080, 706K)

At least Mooncrash is good.

I still need to beat it. I got to the point where you have that corruption timer and lost all interest. I get that it's not that strict, but I hate feeling like I have to rush through.

Attached: mooncrash.jpg (1920x1080, 354K)

Man, this shit is tight. Is there a genre for this kind of music or where can I find more stuff like this

>awesome concept of Prey 2 died for this
No, it didn't. Arkane's Prey would have been released anyway, just under another name.

How? Even something as simple as the player's death was treated fairly uniquely. I can understand you not liking it but give it a little credit at least.

Kill yourself you fucking subhuman, get the fuck off this board, you don't deserve to even have hands you zoomer piece of shit.

It gets stricter and stricter as you go; the more objectives you complete in the overall picture, the more "Accurate" the simulation gets (more hazards introduced everywhere) and the faster the corruption meter rises.

It's a weird dynamic but I liked it. In the first few runs you're cautiously exploring and trying to find your way around, learning what your objectives are. And as you get better at navigating and start to go back in to accomplish specific goals, you have to be just a little bit better at it than before. I think the constraints also helped reign in some of the things that made the base game a little more boring later on, like separating out the ability trees so you don't get too overpowered, and resetting the maps so you get to keep that satisfying scavenging going when you start a new run.

But ultimately it's really not that hard to cheese everything in the usual ways. Mooncrash had some excellent ideas IMO but I wish they had been able to make it just a little tighter. And give more than one character the inventory space upgrade next time ffs

Best bet is "synthwave" I guess.

The Midnight is a pretty good shout if that's your thing.

No one has ever cared about Prey. This meme that "Prey 2 would have been good" is totally unfounded and exists on a contrarian notion that Bethesda destroyed a series that wasn't even a hidden gem to begin with. Prey 2006 is a decent FPS with some very interesting concepts and gameplay ideas, but other than those it isn't a big player.

That being said, Arkane's Prey is the best modern System Shock-lite game available right now. It's sharp, spooky, fun, sounds and looks good. Did the VR game mode ever come out?

this. Prey was one of the best games of 2017.

>Did the VR game mode ever come out?

it was way too easy to synthesize tons of delay loops and keep corruption wherever you wanted it

I'd hoped there'd be an AI mode. All I've got is a PSVR anyway.

I felt like the soundtrack was the weakest part of the game.
but I did like Typhon voices
youtube.com/watch?v=BHpO35dWfeM

Yeah, that's among what I meant by "cheese everything in the usual ways." At a point I just dumped most of them into the recycler to make things more interesting.

Can't say I agree, I thought the soundtrack was top notch.

>boring and uninspiring
Sounds like Bioshock to me.

Thank you for channeling the rage I am feeling as well user, based rage-bro cleaning up this shithole board.

People who say this isn't a good System Shock 2 successor clearly haven't even played SS2 or don't remember how the mechanics in it worked.

I honestly think Prey is the best game of this genre, better than even SS1 which I think is better than 2.

Moon crash was better

Come at me.
