How are they selling out by signing an exclusivity deal with a smaller retail platform?
Isn't that the opposite selling out?

Microsoft gave me that game for free last e3, so, i will be playing on my xbax juan exx

I think the operative aspect to "selling out" is the exclusivity, not the size of the company.

LE BASED LE GABEN DESERVES A MONOPOLY AND ITS OKAY WHEN HE DOES IT SHUT THE FUCK UP

I'll pirate it. Easy

Not a monopoly you ignorant 12 year old fuck.

Is it you who wrote that or the Epic employee remotely controlling your PC through their spyware?

steam has achievements tho

This fucking website can't decide if it's full of libertarians or weirdass planned videogame-economy socialists.

>Yea Forums boycotts obsidian game not because of their track record of buggy shit but because it's on a certain store

>why cant all these people be one person

>small
>has two big companies behind it
>one of them from china that uses spyware
Wut?

Oh yes, the 'little guy' Epic games which runs the most popular game in existance

>all these epic shills
Fuck china

Fuck epic

When the hell did the Chinese start being able to spell English this good?

Why should I be upset about this?

Its just another client download; im not actually losing anything. The only actual reasons I've heard from people are that they can't leave user reviews (But im not a social media loving millenial so that doesn't bother me) and some racist nonsense about china.

Does Epic actually do anything bad or is this just outrage culture?

Im going to buy the game on Epic Store now cause all these Valve drones are annoying as fuck

Hmmm.

The political swing of this website was majority libertarian before the SJWs started pushing people towards the right.

>MOOOOOOM THEY ARE MAKING ME SET UP ANOTHER USER NAME AND PASSWORD FUCK THESE EPIC GUYS

>lists off steam key seller sites
LOL

I can see why you don't have a problem with spyware since you put all your info on facebook for everybody to see.

Why are you going up to bat for this company so hard?

You aren't important retard, stop thinking anyone cares enough to spy on you

>Does Epic actually do anything bad or is this just outrage culture?
Apart from the fact that they’ve already admitted to injecting spyware into your system so it can harvest the data on your other game clients, it’s just a fundamentally more compromised platform. Tons of people have complained that their Epic accounts are constantly targeted by hackers trying to get into their profiles, and I’ve been pelted with hourly spam emails saying someone tried to get into mine. The only way to stop this is by either deleting your account or use the two-step authentication, and there’s no fucking way I’m giving the Chinese my phone number or any other personal information.

>more baseless assertions

So can you give me an actual reason or are we just going to continue the school yard talk you big stoopidy head

Attached: 1264563843645.jpg (220x220, 8K)

>Why are you going up to bat for this company so hard?
The same could be said for you, shill. Nobody had any problem with GOG trying to share the same market with Steam because GOG isn’t trying to make last-minute exclusivity deals or selling out to China. Why only NOW are you people trying to make President Pooh proud by shitting on Steam 24/7?

not him but sure ill give you a reason this situation is fucked
even if valve gives devs a bigger cut, this wont stop epic from buying exclusives
epic doesnt exist to make valve better, and the consumers are the ones who are gonna get fucked here
i am not supporting exclusives on pc
paid dlcs on launch, microtrans. none of this shit would exist if people werent dumb retards with the principles of a child
oh and by the way if the game was both on steam and epic, and epic had a better client, id get it there

>reminder to buy this game

...what?
Are you retarded?

How many again?

Why isn't something like this being reported on anywhere?

Gog wasnt real competition, so we steam cucks are on with getting them stay. Buy epic is threatening or monopoly, and that cannot stand.

Ayo hol up, finna pirate 2 copies just to counteract your purchase. Your move.

You fucks make it way too obvious that you just recently crossed the great firewall.

Not really a valid argument when Steam does the same thing. You're just a boomer whining about easily access info on the internet in general and nothing specifically related to this topic

Bro hurry and get off the internet and live in the forest! Your info is too important to be had by these companies trying to sell you games!

You argue like an SJW

>Not really a valid argument when Steam does the same thing
Prove it then. Show me that they do what Epic does in .

Says the steam chink

Im going to shill this game FOR FREE to everyone I know to counteract you. HA!

Why so upset? Iagree with you. If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear by giving everyone your information.

Literally every other year Steam has a data leak or major hacker attack. Your info is no safer with them than anyone else. Again, you're a boomer whining that you live in a technological world and not actually contributing anything to the discussion. Anyone you give your info to is a risk of losing or selling that info

A low IQ move, my friend. I activate Seed Box, allowing me to endlessly seed the game.

What the fuck, they actually made it an Epic exclusive, when?

Time to fire up the ol' bittorrent client and work on my ratio, I guess.

Epic + Microsoft Store IIRC

>MONOPOLY
kek bases epic chinks paying for my copies

developers deciding to host their games on sites outside of steam isn't the same thing as epic straight up paying people for exclusivity.

It's less that I desperately want to use Steam and more that I really don't want to use the EGS, and especially since I'm being fucking forced.

Look, if Obsidian wanted to make a statement by putting it on GoG or some shit instead of Steam, I might actually even be okay with this. But I know that's not how it went down.

How fucked is it that Epic is touting this label of being "pro-developer" when both 4A and from what I've heard, Obsidian were forced into this deal without the actual teams ever hearing about it? How the fuck is that pro developer?

I feel very conflicted about the whole situation. In principle, I really respect what Epic is trying to do.
I think devs are underappreciated, in terms of the time and effort and money it takes to make a game, and the cut that digital distributors take eats into the profits they need to keep going (I'm thinking more of smaller devs, not Ubisoft or something). The fact that there is a company out there that wants to challenge the norm is fantastic, and I think that, regardless of Epic's practices, the dialogue they've started is super important.
That being said, the way they're handling the problem seems odd to me. The concept of exclusivity is inherently going to alienate a lot of people who don't want to be told how to consume. The whole culture around PC gaming is that its an open free-for-all, where you can get your game and play it however you want, more or less. These exclusivity deals shit all over that, which is troublesome. I don't have the Epic launcher, and I really don't want to download another client.

Yet, I guess if the goal is creating a better system for the devs to do their best work, maybe it's worth it to make such a big scene like this. Valve will definitely notice, that's for sure, and maybe it'll push them to get rid of all the shovelware on their store.

TL;DR - I don't like how Epic is going about things, but I like the outcome that they're aiming for. But I don't really care either way.

I love it when Epic thinks they have something good to report and it turns out it's just bullshit like everything else.

It's definitely a difficult distinction to make, but I think a great of the games I have in mind are pretty cut and dry; stuff like the King Bundle are obvious ripoffs of other games, which it would make sense for a legitimate store to jettison.

There's a fact that you should know. I'll give you no hints as to what it could possibly be. Now you need to google it in order to find it. What is it?

40% of Epic Games' shares are owned by Tencent.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epic_Games

One of the board of directors at Epic Games is a Tencent employee. Rumor is there's a second.
crunchbase.com/person/li-wenlei#section-overview

>Tencent dominance of the Chinese market comes from its control of content discovery, user acquisition and distribution
technology.ihs.com/604579/wegames-global-release-illustrates-tencents-strategic-ambition-in-games-distribution

Why is this important? Tim Sweeney went on record saying he "takes no orders from Tencent." This is a facetious lie. 40% ownership of a company puts Tencent in a position of power to completely liquidate their assets and bring Epic Games to its knees if they wanted to. Tencent also has complete control of video game distribution in the Chinese market, only playing second to the Chinese government itself. This means that for Epic to have its games released in the largest market on the planet, they must adhere to the demands of Tencent's directors that have been planted at the top of Epic.

Also, the owner of Steam Spy is Sergey Galyonkin, who is also Epic Games' Head of Publishing in Eastern Europe.
gamesindustry.biz/articles/2019-01-14-sergey-galyonkin-epic-games-store-courting-new-younger-audience

Let's also not forget that the Epic Games Store has been caught scanning every facet of your PC. No, not just your Steam's friends list - everything.
reddit.com/r/PhoenixPoint/comments/b0rxdq/epic_game_store_spyware_tracking_and_you/

Tencent is no different from Huawei, a company backed by the Chinese government to dominate the western market it exists within, giving it complete and uncontested access to the private information of billions.

t. has absolutely no understanding of how much power shares actually give someone.

Again, Tencent could literally take those 40% of shares and liquidate them, annihilating Epic's value in one swoop. Let's also not forget that they have Tencent executives on the board of directors at Epic.

Wrong. Valve only takes a cut of copies sold directly through Steam.

Try again layman. And do it without invoking a literal meme lord this time

Epics business strategy of throwing several millions at every exclusive is not sustainable in the long run, and anyone relying on it continuing to happen is silly, especially once the fortnite cash flow stops.

Go back to watching netflix while you whine about account making you petulant child

Less features should be obvious (like controller remapping, in-home streaming or family sharing and many others).
As for lower prices, all you need to do is have a look at this screenshot and notice how not a single offer is on Epic while you can buy Steam keys for below MSRP already, despite the game releasing in 1 year. By the time release draws close, there'll be even more shops competing. The cheapest offer comes in at

>He thinks public and private trading on stocks makes any difference in how much power someone gains the more they own
You do know publicly traded companies have meetings with their biggest stock owners to gauge ideas and make decisions, right? Like Nintendo of all companies makes this very apparent, showing how many stock holders want Nintendo to go into construction of all things.

The xingjiang urukhai autonomous region.

I'd say folks were getting pushed right far before that. As far back as Anita and her "Feminazis' and the whole Gamer Gate debacle. Most Alt Right types have no strong convictions of their own beyond rejecting SJWs. If the Left managed to calm its shit down over night- the strong right wing presence in young folks as well as general care for politics would die off pretty quick

I'll pirate, delete and pirate this again, at least a 1000 times via a script. That means the communist party will lose 60000 dollars in 2-3 days and you'll have no way to counter that.

Yeah, I actually liked the trailer but all my interest died with this epic store shit. Won't even bother pirating it.
