Each discord is the epicenter for that cliques circle jerk which is exacerbated by normies, retards, anime posters and the fact it's waaaay more accessible. It's a better skype alternative for small groups and as a tool it functions well but community usage usually makes any fairly used discord cancerous. This wasn't the case with vent.

I've never used vent, muble or teamspeak but I feel like there were similar shit like what you said but on a way smaller scale

Retards often couldn't figure out how to connect to said server.

Why would you even want to use Discord for large community things? These activities are usually better for forums. Vent is also not suited for large communities.
I use Discord for smaller niche gaming communities and private servers. I've never once felt even slightly overwhelmed by normies, retards or anime posters. If you join these cancer servers, of course you will find cancerous people. I don't see how that would be tarnish your view of Discord as a whole.

I guess I can see this after I actually joined and quit my first big server the other day. That was garbage and I am imagining those public servers that get shilled here are even worse.
But the small specific game servers I am at are nice.
only "trouble" we've had in one of the smaller ones is when an obvious Yea Forums user came and the first thing he did was discussing why he got banned out of another server for trying to talk about a porn game without catching that no one cares, dude ended up getting silenced for a day

no you misunderstand. when you go offline in discord, you're still lingering in the server in some capacity, and so you get servers with like 2000 people who are always offline in the user list. going offline in teamspeak means you leave the server and no longer exist until you return.

Posting images is the worst fucking thing. So many chats are just people spamming le funny meme images they see on twitter or reddit.
Same with having profile pictures and customisable names. Things that allow people to build up firm identities leads to the most obnoxious people making it their home.

there's an actual do not disturb mode but it still shows you as online. this 'offline' mode is for people who want to be creeps and lurk in servers so they can spy on the chat without anyone interacting with them.

Discord is retarded and no one should use it. Im tierd of all these voice chats and launchers these days. I autistic as shit and have just settled down with TeamSpeak and Steam. I only play tf2 and csgo anyways. And all my friends use TeamSpeak so it works out

I know, it annoys me too. I always think if they're offline that they aren't going to reply, then out of nowhere the fags start chatting.

what annoys me is that it has become almost impossible to avoid this shitty app. everyone will try to drag you into using it or you're made to feel left out somehow. I had to dump a number of clans across multiple games because they started treating me weird over not chatting with them and sharing memes on their faggy little server.

Thats why I had a huge autistic spaz out with my friends when they wanted to try out Discord. Now they are all glad we dont use Discord, they dont remember why we sticked with TeamSpeak when Discord first became a thing. Who knew sperging out could lead to something worthwhile?
I was intrested in the tf2new comp thing when I first saw it, then I noticed they used discord for chat and organization. So Im just sticking with pubstomping and lobbies
