I'd say it's the usual Capcom fake hype and paid shilling. Every few months the board is flooded with viral marketing for the latest Capcom flavor of the month shovelware.
Compare DMC5, RE2R, MHW, SFV, MVCI, etc with an actually well received, well liked and popular game like Bloodborne. We still discuss Bloodborne nearly 5 years later. Nobody discusses modern Capcom games a month after release.

The biggest problem this game has is it has virtually no replayability, unless you want to speedrun for the infinite ammo weapons.
If you've played through with Leon and Claire once, you're basically done as the "second run" is 95% the exact same as the first. All they did was change some of the puzzle solutions around so you'll end up needing to play through the same sections you've already played through in the exact same way to do the same puzzle, just with a slightly different outcome.
Perhaps this is the reason no one talks about this game anymore, unless they're part of the "LEON FUCK MY SISTER" group of memers.

Pretty much this. I had a blast playing through the game, but it only took me about 9 hours to finish Leon A and Clare B on hardcore.
The game was about quality over quantity. I can appreciate that some people had a lot of fun speedrunning the game, but the core game is just so short.

user the hype for a few months is just the standard here for most games because most people move on to the next game. Not everything can stand the test of time like Dark Souls has. The key to shilled marketing is the nuance of posts. Example would be the MK11 threads, they're really devoid of critical talking points with the most shallow form of praise given to the game with any criticism of the game met with nonsensical dismissive responses. That was in the RE2R threads but that was hugely outnumbered by the people who were talking about the specifics especially when it came to the comparisons of the original to the remake.
