I'm playing right now but when the match is over I'll try to write a quick sum up of why it's great Have this webm to judge things but if you like fast paced TPS games you'll find it great
It's a combination of several things that made me playing the game back then and made me miss it nowadays, including >the animeish artstyle >the really fast-paced and high skill ceiling gameplay which rewards you greatly if you master the movement, shooting pattern of weapons etc >the god-tier soundtrack >nostalgia too
You have to play and have a feel of the game to understand what I mean. I wish more games had this philosophy

learn to avoid getting shot at by jumping in random patterns, you can get fancy by also dashing in random directions and mix it with side dodges be aware of where's the closest piece of cover in case you run out of sp people usually don't expect closing distance with wall jumps so you can use that for melee
other than those is jumping practice to learn the angles, distance and map tricks, and aiming practice
Highway is one of the highest tests of skill. It's obvious you can't appreciate the aesthetic value it brings to S4 League. Why am I wasting my words, you probably don't even play the game with BGM on.
I've never played either, but what's the difference between the original s4 and s4max? Also, how hard am I gonna get shit on? I haven't really played games like this before.

Everything in the original S4 is pretty much pay to win while in S4Max everything is free and fair. You're going to get shit on if this is going to be your first time playing a game like this.

this it's one of those easy to learn and hard to master games you have a bunch of basic TPS movement things dash, wall jump, side dodge and that's it it gets deep once you start using stuff like dash jumps to dodge bullets and angled wall jumps to quickly close distance / reach higher places / trick jumps pick any 3 weapons and 1 skill from the list and go
soundtrack and announcer are complete kino and it's a shame that games like these are no longer made
