As someone who actually was balls-deep in the whole sprites and sprite comics thing, this was considered a normal thing to expect at least from beginners. Usually, it was either Sanic 3 & Knuckles sprites, Sonic Advance series sprites, Mega Man 7 sprites, or Mega Man ZX sprites that got edited for your original the character needs.

Kirbopher was going to get it finished with big trip to Fireball20XL as this mysterious island with FB20XL members appearing, and ending with giant mindfuck ending before all was well as pure autism kino. But because every sperg in a 100 mile radius kept spamming his emails/Newgrounds account/ect. with WEN SEASON 4 so much they wouldn't even let him have a moment of privacy because lul, the guy just decided FUCK THIS SHIT, IT'S CANCELLED. Took years after before the new series happened...although to be fair about this shit, it's for the better Kirbopher never went along with his original plan. Would have gotten him connected with the giant shitstorm that came later to Fireball20XL and Psyguy, due to everything crashing with no survivors when that happened. At the least, a lot of it is classic MMBN-styled kino. And season 1 actually used shit from an ancient forum RP, which makes the raccoon asshole seen have a whole new side to him when you know the story behind the series.

You would be surprised. It was often common for people to make giant as fuck sprite sheets of their OCs in a gorillion poses, so can easily copy-pasta their sprites for comics, animations, pages and of course shitposting as well.

honestly i feel like he got nerfed. but i only think so for the sake of ending it quick because of the patreon thing. i would love to see him btfo bowser. a much grander scheme in mecha sonic's defeat is much more fitting

I feel it kinda fits, bowser is a far cry from anything he might have faced against in SMBZ, let's remember bowser in metal form was practically an immovable object, even base was resilient to almost anything.
it would make sense for mecha sonic to be caught off guard when something doesn't go flying off with one of his punches, especially since his style is very in your face hyper aggresive.
Also, nearly no one tried even deflecting his own shit back at his face, so he could reasonably be not expecting that.
...and i kinda like the idea of the absolute biggest threat in both worlds being ended in a swift, karmic, and anticlimatic way by someone who was not even acknowledged at all by him.
