I fail to see how how not attending E3 is "anti-consumer". The show isn't even intended to be open to the public. They've only started selling small batches of tickets in the last couple of years to make the show still seem relevant.

the only good thing about e3 are the game reveals. There were no interesting console exclusives revealed last year, so I don't care about the big 3 being there.

Nintendo, Bethesda, Microsoft, Devolver Digital, Ubisoft, Square Enix, and the god awful PC Gaming Show will all be holding press conferences this year. Sony and EA won't, but they're going to hold their own events separate from E3. EA is going to have EA Play but it's going to be held ahead of E3. Sony is going to have the equivalent of a Nintendo Direct called "State of Play". Apparently they're going to start doing that regularly.

Also, this is going to be the last E3 held at the Los Angeles Convention Center. E3 2020 may not even be held in Los Angeles, or California, as they're considering other places to hold it at here on out.

E3 is undergoing a major transition right now which may very well be part of the reason two of the biggest shows aren't going to be there this year.

I love it personally. Sean knows he's running the most unappreciated show at E3 and he's "loving" every second of it. His sarcastic attitude makes it gold. Also, he seems like a good guy in general.

I'm excited for E3 though disappointed that Sony won't be there. It's not that I'm a huge Sony fan or anything, it's that I want as many conferences as possible and Sony is one of the ones that always shows third party shit at their conferences. Even as lame as their press conference was last year we still got trailers for the RE2 remake and Control, for example. Nintendo having a press conference is cool and all but they never show anything third party so it's not the same.
