There's no email verification for creating accounts so what likely happened is a bot signed up for an account using your email address. The idea is that people will simply reset the password and use the account, and then after awhile the bot owner will open a support ticket and claim you stole the account from them.

I thought about that but Microsoft encrypts their files so if/when the steam version gets mods I don't think I'd be able to install them on the windows store. But with pirating I think I'd be able to just transfer a save when I got the steam version
