Explain to me why the Sniper Abortion scene is bad, the moment Dante knew about the baby existing the plan was to kill him, so why are people shocked? ALSO the overall plan was to rile up Mundus in order to weaken him, so why are the charachters (and audience) surprised when Mundus probably kills millions in an emotional fit? Wasnt that what they wanted all along? Did people expect for Mundus to calmly accept the fact he was getting fucked over in all directions?
Vergil was a retard in some ways but in this case he did nothing wrong, perhaps not revealing to Dante that he was going to kill the baby after Kath was secured.

The abortion scene is fucked up for a number of reasons, but if you want a main reason its because it was indeed a situation were the heroes seemed like the villains, like watching the scene Mundus is actually doing everything right and holds his end of the exchange with no real strings attached, Vergin then decides he "has" to and preforms the Sniper Abortion its a fucked up scene because of that fact.

For example lets imagine a new scene thats very similar but instead of Vergin just doing what he did we have Munuds have his men open fire at the half way point causing the heroes to retaliate and end up killing Lilith and the child in the crossfire.

In the end that would have been the prefer way to handle it and keep the heroes on a side that doesn't make them look like double crosser, having the heroes stoop to the villains level isnt a satisfying way to beat him but its even worse since its lower then the villain who upheld his word.

And before "But Vergin was a bad guy" the game doesn't give us enough reason to think that he would do that, this is meant to show that he has evil in him but its so out of left field that it comes off as wacky.

Didnt this very demon reveal to Dante the existence of the baby and ex plicitedly told him "the baby has to die" and afterwards Dante met the baby and who would have though? It was another monstrosity that tried to murder him alongside Lilith.
Also the lesson "not every demon is bad" doesnt quite work out(for me at least) because Sparda exists thus proving the moment you meet Vergil that there are good demons out there

It's a pretty good action game, but everything about that universe is shit. Seems Tameme's gotten his head unstuck from his ass now though, so maybe we can get a great character action game from NT someday.

1. The scene is just badly directed, with goofy zoomed-in reaction shots.
2. The fact that Vergil pauses to allow Lilith to cry in pain before smiling and blowing her head off makes Vergil a sadistic monster on par with Mundus and the other villains.
3. Vergil risks Kat's life by fucking up the plan.
4. Less than a minute ago the player was pummeling Lilith and her disgusting baby with a huge axe, so the change to her helplessly bawling her eyes out is weird and doesn't make sense thematically.
5. What's left of Vergil's original characterization is destroyed, the main appeal of Vergil has always been that he's honourable, even refusing to use guns out of his sense of honour.
6. Neither Dante nor Kat are repulsed by the fact that Vergil did something that needlessly sadistic and morally fucked up that put them all in danger, whether or not it was right is one thing but not even giving them a heads-up is just stupid.
7. The scene makes no sense, why wasn't Mundus there at the trade-off, or at least more demons or SWAT officers that can actually hit an obvious target when the whole trade was Mundus' idea to capture Dante of all people, who he knows would not be restrained by a few cops?

Its extra weird because it was intentional to feel sympathy especially based on Lilith's animations, this scene is here because they felt they need to do 2 things.
1. Establish Vergil as a villain
2. Make Mundus and Lilith sympathetic

The first part is a neck snap and is only there because we all expect Vergil to be the final boss cause he was in DMC3 and the second part is there because they feel they need too because a sympathetic villain is "more interesting" then a one dimensional one like DMC1 Mundus but it fails in every regard

Everytime when I hear about this poor game do I realize that only 4 things really ruined it for a lot of people.
1st:That it is a DMC game.
2nd:That Inafune should have kept his filthy hands away from it and Capcom should have just let them do their thing.
3rd:That Tameen should have shut the fuck up.
4th:That the writers should have taken some advice on how not to turn your protagonists into cunty dumbasses.
We could have had another character action game series just with a more western kind of way on how to design the combat system I would have liked to see what they could have pulled off.
But this is what we got and nothing will change that the fanbase is still bickering on what is right and what is wrong and first the classic fans had to face the fact that maybe they won't get another game that they like and now is it the reboot fans turn to feel the same way.

DmC is a fascinating paradox, it's the best game Ninja Theory has put out and above average for Western Action games, but terrible as a Devil May Cry game
