I don't really understand the way Vampires think in these games. After I heard about VtMB getting a sequel, I immediately went and played the first one since I had never done it before, and I don't get why a lot of them are so political. I don't care about them being political, that's not the problem. I just don't understand this from a lore perspective.
From what I saw in my first two playthroughs was that Clan politics are a massive thing you should always be aware of and wade through with care under threat of death. That's all well and fine, that's what I expect from these massive behemoth old vampire clans. But if that is your life, why would you care or even bother talking about human politics?
I'm not saying they would lose what makes them human, and in a way it makes sense for young vampires to cling to their humanity in a way, but when you have to deal with these kinds of life and death situations regularly, you cannot tell me you'd still care about normal mundane human politics.
And none of this is even mentioning the fact that Vampires would realistically act in a way similar to the Illuminati; manipulating politics to suit their needs, not joining it.
Looking at it from a different perspective, ignoring the lore, this just seems like terrible writing. What reason do vampires have to do any of this? It doesn't make sense.
Actually it's a lore thread. I've only completed the game recently twice.
I am asking why for those that know more about the lore why they are so political. Because it makes no sense from a more realistic perspective.

and what evidence do you have that vampires give a shit about human politics, or meddle in them for that matter?
Oliver Williams
Young vampires are still stupid shits infatuated with human politics. Elder vampires are too intelligent to give a shit about them, but instead are concerned with subtle and intricate powerplays, mindgames and outright hostile "fuck you" schemes launched against their rivals. that's why those anarchs were just a buncha dumb college commies, but Jack? Jack is just smiling. He knows a really fucking funny joke and he wants to see how the punchline gets delivered.
Thomas Parker
>Vampire the Masquerade is not a fascist-friendly game. If you are a Neo-Nazi, "alt-righter", or whatever you're calling yourself nowadays, we urge you to put this book down and call someone who you trust to talk about where you went so wrong in your life. - Excerpt from VtM 5th Edition
Henry Gomez
The only vampire that gives a shit about human politics is the eternally college-aged feminist that has only been undead for a decade or so.
Jacob Gray
I think you got it inverted, politics aren't human matters, they are vampire matters that humans think they have control over.
Tyler Wright
if you're actually a fascist that's pretty good advice you should probably take.
Nathan Thomas
politics are just means to organize society in the most optimal way. The secret society within the bigger society can't avoid the subject of policy making for a greater good of the community.
Jose Edwards
Those same faggots started an international incident that got them fired so it's all good.
Carter Gray
I'm at a total loss to what you're blathering about. Most of the politics are groups opposing each other and has nothing to do with humans. Nines and those faggots oppose LaCroix, LaCroix wants order, etc.
Christopher Bailey
What happened?
Easton Bailey
I feel like if they are going to organize themselves into any kind of group of self aware individuals, they're going to have varying opinions on how that group should or shouldn't be structured and regulated. By being intelligent in the broad sense and social creatures to varying degrees, they still possess the human qualities that are relevant to politics. Even if they aren't really interested in what's happening in human politics, it would still be something worth discussing to the extent that it could be applicable to their own society, since they spend a lot of time hiding among the humans
I'm no lore expert, that's just what comes to mind with your questions
Landon Cooper
>actually a fascist I'll take "anyone who disagrees with my degenerate, progressive lifestyle" for 500, Cancerman.
Aaron Anderson
They used Chechnya's persecution of homosexuals as a backdrop in one of the RPG books. Russian media blew it out of proportion then Paradox fired everyone and dissolved White Wolf.
>But if that is your life, why would you care or even bother talking about human politics? Because a lot of clan politics revolves around manipulating humans to use their struggles as proxies. There’s a good quote I wish I had on hand that goes something like “we didn’t lose to the Ventrue, we lost to the armies of the lords they control, the merchants who owe them money, the clergy they influence, and anyone who dared to look one in the eyes’
The vampiric society is a smaller group within a bigger group, that is the World. Some decisions of the bigger group will of course affect the smaller one.
The best example of it in VTM is when the USA nuked the nips. The Camarilla was in a tense moment and almost breaking apart, but when the USA dropped the nukes, they recognized that humans could kill them all easily, and stopped the hostilities.
The Inquisition was another moment of the kind.
Ryder Evans
Would vampires benefit from muslim immigration in their countries?
Seems like a good deal, more food for their hunting grounds
He said actually a fascist, as in someone who practices the defining traits of fascism, retard. If someone disagrees with me, I just call them a faggot like everyone else on this board.
Just people a bunch of stupid cunts throw the word around now doesn't mean it was never a real thing that was practiced.
Sebastian Hall
no, because vampires living in islamic countries would have less food for themselves.
Jose Cox
>I don't care about them being political No. One. Cares.
But none of them does. Acknowledging them or knowing what's going on in them(and you would know that just by watching TV or reading a newspaper for an hour of your night) is not the same as actually caring. Even Damsel with her commie shit is talking about communism in relation to vampires only, not humans.
Angel Thomas
Yeah, remember when VtMB was not political at all?
