Never played it before. Should I go for remastered or prepare to die? Why?

prepare to die because of mods

i don't think you can buy the prepare to die anymore. But the deciding factor on which edition you want to buy is if you want more or less PVP, i think the PtD Edition together with the fix is way better than the remastered, but if you can get the remastered for 10 bucks or so you should by it instead

remastered because nothing was changed from the original besides having the mod that is required to play the game included

Prepare to die if you're playing on pc, remastered if console

remastered
play offline

idc about mods

PtDE's online base is declining and will decline (also it's removed from Steam). Go for DaSR, even though I despise its existence. Splitting the online base like that was shitty and scummy.

Actually heaps was broken

the animations are all fucked up because they fucked up IK and rigging so the feet snap and do weird shit all over the place, as well as the materials and lighting being fucking weird and out of place now

well the game is fucking ugly and graphical mods make a huge difference but suit yourself

Just play the Remastered. Even coming by an original copy of PtD is hard nowadays.
The Remastered has some changed lighting in places, but it's almost identical.

If you don't care about mods then get teh remaster, its objectively better aside from the mods aspect

Remastered; it's easier to set up for normies. With the original you have to set up dsfix, put in the correct prefs, make sure to disable in game settings for anti aliasing, enable vsync in nvidia's control panel, set up a 30/60 fps toggle key and install wulf's connectivity mod to play with friends. with the remastered you just play.

>easier to set up for normies
>downloading and installing any mod takes mere minutes
Fucking cringe, you ARE a normie

Prepare to die has better lighting, ironically. The remaster tries for more accurate lighting. But the problem is that Dark Souls was designed with artificial lighting effects in mind. Which the more "accurate" lighting can't replicate. Leaving many parts of the game without highlights, or reflections. Fromsoft actually worked hard creating these colored maps(I don't know what the technical term for them are), and the remaster simply can't work with them, so the graphics can appear bare in many ways. That is, if you know what you're missing.

The remaster improves particle effects. But because it's the only thing that's truly improved, it's actually distracting among the older graphics. You got 2018 magic and fire, in a 2011 game. It's just odd.

Just get prepare to die, and have the real Dark Souls experience. The remaster is a weird frankenstein monster.

>normies cant install extremely streamlined mods
lol, this just sounds like you recently discovered how to mod yourself. fuck off.

If you don't care about the multiplayer, the Prepare to Die version with the dsfix mod makes for the visually best version.
There are like two ladders where you fall through the ground and jumping is slightly different, but it's deactiatable anytime with a button combination. Most people think the fix only changes the framerate to 60, but it also unlocks the true resolution of the textures, which had to be downgraded for the consoles back during release. The mod is very easy to, but if you care about playing with random players online, you probably want to go for the remaster

Remaster for an addition bonfire in the catacomb.

Yeah retards. It's easier to just click install and actually get to play the game rather than downloading these tools, dropping them in the install folder, opening up the config file in textedit, set up the correct settings, open the keyboard config file to set the toggle keys, then right clicking the desktop to open up the control panel, then to browse for the exe and then enable vsync, to then open up the game, alt tab, open up wulf's connectivity mod, alt tab back and disable aa in game, to then have to deal with the 60fps bugs like the two ladders that let you drop through the ground, jumps you can't make unless you toggle the fps, the double boulder in sens' and more. ITS JUST AS EASY OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

cope more brainlet
congratulations on finally figuring out how to mod by the way
