This game is from japan. where idol running rampant and people worship them as their goddess, game where 80% of its character is either moe or sexy female, JAPAN. Yoshi pretty much create this for his fans as top priority and what most playerbase in japan want outside of being cool edgy shit or cute moe baka? Their own ideal female waifu obviously.

You can see clearly when they announce viera, they even went far with some joke art and even talk in detail about it. That alone is pretty much how much effort they take and you can imagine how they feel when there almost no responds after that viera trailer. This khajiit race... its like they just slap whatever they can think of and be done with it, why not male viera? I have a feeling yoshi never want male viera to be playable race, i think yoshi want to put them as upcoming beast tribe npc which make sense role wise (male viera are very rare and hidden. Thus it would be so weird to see bunch of them running rampant as playable race)

What gets me is just how much more detailed the Viera are than any other race, male or female. Their ears look better than cat ears. Their hair is long, girly and very detailed. Their eyebrow game is on point. The eyes are pretty with lots of eyeshadow and eyeliner. The nose isn't too big or too small, just the perfect size. Lips are are a good size too and look pretty. The cheeks are rounded and natural. The jaw is typical of girls too.

I mean the Viera even has a philtrum. No other race has that.

I don't mind Hrotghar personally since I'm an Elezen but does anyone think these look good, objectively? There's no fur on them, like, actual fur. I sometimes think I'm the only one that likes playing healers (SCH specifically because I like managing the fairies). Playing DPS makes me fall asleep because there's no real risk involved. I just need to do my rotation and dodge attacks. Tanks are slightly better than DPS but keeping aggro is still not hard. Healers however I have to make sure none of my dumb teammates die and I think that's honestly fun. It keeps me awake.

IMO it's pretty fair that Viera are far more detailed than the other races. The original 5 were being designed before 2010, when console fidelity (PS3 and PCs with pre-Core series CPUs and 8000s Nvidia/4000 series AMD GPUs) simply wouldn't have allowed some of those fine details we're seeing with Viera. When the game was transitioning from 1.x to ARR, the devs had far more things on their minds besides touching up the existing races aside from the addition of highlanders/female roes/male miqo'tes, and they had less than a year to make the change. And with Au Ra, they also were quite restricted, both resource (still PS3 era) and time (concepts had to be taken from early artwork to full models in the time between ARR's and HW's launches) to do much more than an alternate take on the Miqo'te concept.

But now in our present day, not only has the XIV team had plenty of time to plan out Viera and Hrothgar, they also are able to implement more graphics features as they come to terms with the mess of a graphics engine that they adopted from 1.0, and the fact that both modern PC and console CPUs are heavily multithreaded with decent clock speeds. And now all OSes they're targeting are also 64-bit, lifting another restriction. My only hope is that some day down the line, if they aren't already planning the next FF MMO, that they return to the older races and give them some small touchups. Or at least, let those become available to players as additional options.

As a healer main, I wouldn't say healer is boring. I find it find balancing keeping the team up while trying to throw as much DPS as I can. With that being said, I definitely understand why people don't like playing healers.

It is a "higher risk, little reward" job. You can crawl through a dungeon or raid with a shit tank or shit DPS, but a shit healer can prevent a clear unless you have a SMN or RDM to res their dumbasses.

Viera are an established race already in use for Matsuno's work; when you think Viera, you should should automatically think of a female only race. I don't know why people would clamor for them by name, but be surprised when they are portrayed exactly how they are in Ivalice games. If they simply asked for a generic bunny race, they probably wouldn't have to bug Matsuno in the first place, but this is ultimately a case of crying for one thing, but expecting something else.

For the record, I didn't want new races in the first place. It's just a bigger workload when adding gear/animations, which is inevitably going to eat into the already frustrating content cycles. Hrothgar have weird heads but their body build is almost identical to Roes so editing armor around them is far less time-consuming than it would be for a Bangaa. Your other points can't be justified and it's SE being incompetent.

I won't lie, I have a huge emotional attachment to the game but I'm very skeptical about a lot of things. I'm still waiting on the combat changes to really decide if I'm willing to stick around for the ride again. SB was boring from start to finish even when it got announced. But ShB does have some things going for me right from the gate. The new races are nice, the new city zones seemed cool, Gunbreaker and Dancer look interesting. But what I really want is Yoshi is to announce changes that will make the game really fun again. No retreads of old content. Not another Deep Dungeon, Eureka, 8/21man raids as a headliner. I'd love something new to define ShB in terms of content. I just hope Yoshi can at least show an inclination of pushing XIV past HW 5.0, as misguided of a thought that it can be at this point
