Software wise yes, but hardware wise it sucked. Many early PS2 games were really ugly (outside of a few obvious exceptions like Jak & Daxter, R&C, etc) many Dreamcast games looked better. The disc laser and/or disc tray would commonly fail after 2 years or less. No included ethernet port on OG model.
