god bless the Japanese

I just recently replayed Castlevania Curse of Darkness using pcsx2. I had very fond memories of that game while growing up.
However, while replaying it I noticed some pretty big flaws such as the tedious level designs (the worst offender is Dracula's Castle, holy fuck is it bad), slow pacing (you'll walk a lot doing nothing) and having to backtrack a lot because in order to progress some levels you absolutely NEED certain ID abilities such as the Glide ability (which the Bird type offers). This results in having to warp back to Julia's shop a lot in order to swap out/in your ID's.

I think the strongest aspects of this game is the following: OST, boss fights, crafting system and Innocent Devils
The OST in this game is insanely good (for example youtube.com/watch?v=ogUcCAbaqSw), which sets the mood of levels and makes the player immerse nicely into the story and the game itself. Boss fights such as Isaac, Saint Germain, Dullahan and Trevor is rewarding to beat and will punish your shit if you greed. The other bosses aren't as good, but they're still nice to defeat. What I was most excited about when I was a kid was to discover new crafting elements and unlocking new cool weapons. It's still to this day very satisfying, especially when you get all the components to craft the Laser blade. Lastly the Innocent Devils. Like the crafting system, unlocking new evolves and leveling up your pok- Innocent Devils is still satisfying and fun as fuck. I absolutely adore the designs and variety IDs offer the player, with unique characteristics and quirks for each one of them.

tl:dr;
>Pros
• Insanely good OST
• Picking up drops/materials from enemies in order to forge different kinds of weapons and armors is satisfying as fuck
• Innocent Devil pets with a varied leveling system unlocking new unique abilities and characteristics are fun as fuck
• Cool characters and nice boss fights

>Cons
• Bad pacing
• Bad level designs
• Backtracking

>tfw exceeded character limit so I have to make a second post
Continuing on, I wish Konami would have polished this game more before shipping it out, because it had the potential of being as good or if not even better than SOTN.
It could have been a new staple for the company and of the game franchise, but sadly they missed out on that opportunity. While I would score this game 9/10 while I was younger, I think it's more realisitic to say 7/10 or even 6.5/10 (It still holds a special place in my heart though). I think the biggest offender for this is the cons I previously mentioned, and the lack of level variety and atmosphere within the levels. Dracula's Castle is once again a showcase of this, where they've just pretty much copy pasted shit in order to make a level.
It's so fucking bad, and it feels awful exploring this dead shit. It is literally what new/v/ would call "soulless". >>but it's Dracula's Castle! it's supposed to feel empty and dead! Even in the best case scenario where this would be true, sadly the same flaws can be said about most of the levels in the game. I think I'll end my little rant/"review" here because Yea Forums(nel) is not the type of site to blogpost on.

Her armpits.

Pls nerf the high jump

For beginners, pick Lecarde, he has the super jump and his staff is easier to use than Morrison

Playing sotb for the first time. Just got to the inverted map. Cool fucking game, really digging it.

I dropped it after one episode.

Just finished AoS and I'm happy to say that SotN still holds up as the best. AoS is good though

It's actually the best one.
Core gameplay is top-notch. The character switching mechanic is god-tier, everything is super smooth, there's tons of variety, the bosses are all well-designed and mostly memorable, etc. Only issue is that they clearly ran out of time at the end, hence all the paintings shoved into one room with re-used assets.

Posting best girl.
