>no VR chat
Into the trash it goes
Rec Room has actual games and less degeneracy
nice user, but there is such a thing as depth perception, you learn that in elementary school
The social element of VR is on a scale unseen.
You will NEVER feel what it's like to have someone air hump your face while you're trying to watch a YouTube video in VRchat, or a Dota 2 spectator room in VR the same as on a monitor, it's uncomfortable, and opens many avenues for trolling, T bagging in shooters becomes funny again because the guy is actually dipping his nuts on you.
However it's starting to get really bad in VRC because of Youtubers and Twitch niggers trying to farm content out of everybody, they don't contribute or do anything entertaining, they wait for someone else with a personality to do it and fly to them like stink on shit.
> rift 0.1
> vive 0.2
Sound like bullshit.
Are you guys just like stalking or botting each other or something. Literally the same posts and responses daily.
Okay, so how about we eliminate any PC that can't run VR, which I'd be willing to bet 3 months of checks is most "Pc gamers"
I dunno, but my ryan gosling post was the 4th IP in the thread, and I'm willing to bet it's 2 people "Talking", while the guy who posted the monitor strapped to the dude's head and the % chart is also the same person
Just my 2 cents tho
>VR is srs business guys
>No joking allowed
its full of children.
no custom songs in beat saber will kill this anyway.
When are they gonna announce their commercial version? You just know they're gonna.
playstation VR has the most copies sold of beat saber, the people that care about costum songs are a minority
Don’t lie to me Yea Forums, is the Quest gonna be worth it? I’ve already bought an Oculus, but found my PC wasn’t exactly up to snuff and I really, really hate wired VR. I rarely play VR for more than 2 hours, and I generally don’t give a shit about the graphics as long as the resolution is good.
Eh, an argument could be made that that's because it's the console demographic, although standalone VR would be perfect for the console demographic, it'd sell but not because of all the shit it could do, but because it's easily accessible for dipshits that can't even build a PC.
The problem with VR is it's too expensive for how shit it is. I'm the most interested in that stand alone oculus because it's cheap and I can masturbate with it, but for actual PC VR call me when I can get cheap 1080 ti performance for 2-300 dollars and the headset the same with 4k panels.
This is a flawed image. Some specs are wrong/misleading. First, it's missing the fact that Quest uses a pentile screen while Rift S is RGB, meaning there is only two little lights that make up a single pixel, compared to 3, which means it's kind of cheating on resolution. In reality, the Rift S has more real resolution than the Quest. The FOV for both is also unreliable info as it's unannounced. Oculus doesn't give specific numbers for FOV anymore. Representatives at events talking about it is not always completely reliable. And in real use, impressions have claimed both higher and lower compared to other devices, meaning it's really probably just close enough to Rift that it's hard to tell, which they probably are. The "recommended playspace" blurbs are also dumb marketing talk copy and pasted from their website. Just replace it with "any size".
Quest looks like it's gonna be a good holdover for now, and it's probably going to be the best portable VR experience for while.
Just wait for when it's been out for more than a month and then come back and ask that.
Okay, because it’s not like I would hate the prospect of only using the Oculus Store, there’s a shitton of shovelware on Steam VR and most of the stuff on Oculus is fairly polished.
I wish I had a friend as knowledgeable about VR, as interested in it, and as positive about it, as I am. Discussing it anywhere here or that other website is just tiring with the amount of noise you have to filter through.
Even with the mobile processor the games look okay, like wii stuff but in VR. I really don't mind that. Kinda hyped actually, I hate wires
>bad and gay
>VR chat
Into the trash it goes
get with the times man
the thing they are pushing now is mobile VR
more of this? love me some fighting planes
It's just console war style shitposting and numbers shit. Because this place is full of normalfags now if something is not popular it's looked down upon, so even if it's great it will just be shitposted to death if it isn't popular and somebody said it would be.
god this is bad
When are we going to get a fucking release date for the Quest? I really wanna buy that shit. Also, I just farted and some leftover cummies dripped out of my doodle
Spring.
>2 hour battery life
it's like they already know that it'll fail
>lower res
>no internal chips and stuff
why same price
Because it's technically higher res and because Quest is like a console where the app store makes them money so they can price the hardware lower, but with a PC VR headset, most people probably use Steam instead of the Oculus Store so it's not as much savings there.
BC Zuckulus are random and dumb as hell. There's gonna be 128 gb Quest that'll be priced a little higher as well.
there is virtually no way to power that shit so it can compete with desktops or even phones in any meaningful way, it is just basic thermodynamics
Nah, VR session are rarely over an hour
these threads have been under attack by literal, actual bots for months now.
and i thought the wands batteries were short
i will forever remind myself that there are shills for this literal shit lmao
>mobile VR
>2 hour battery life
>weak CPU
>overheating
>downgraded versions of real VR games
>locked into Facebook store
how dumb do they think we are?
Yeah, you're not going to get much battery life out of something mounted on your head. If you want more then the headset's going to be heavier. OR, you know, you could just plug in a fucking portable battery pack and you can play your stupid games for more than 2 hours. Maybe you could even tape it to the back of the strap so that it balances the front better. Such a difficult thing to do isn't it.
>downgraded versions
the tradeoff is that you can play it anywhere anytime as long as you have the space. if you're a vrchat tranny who needs his at-home MR body tracking rig to roleplay poledancing then no, the quest probably is not for you
if you like good graphics, the quest probably is not for you
>vrchat tranny
implying this isn't the demographic that will buy that shit
>weak CPU
Better than you think since it's overclocked.
>overheating
It has an active cooling system. And anyway, even with passive cooling like on the Go, it already mitigated almost all cases of overheating ever happening. They use the extra room for more overclocking on Quest.
>downgraded versions of real VR games
Dude this is literally a portable VR console what do you expect. And anyway, gameplay > graphics.
oh great, a mobile phone chipset from 2 generations ago with a noisy fan attached, I can't wait to play my untextured unity games on this!
a vrchat tranny NEEDS his expensive gaming rig, body pucks, etc.
muh graphics
the OP shows plenty of games that are not "untextured unity games" plus theres superhot and robo recall making their way onto it
quit your bitching
>NEEDS expensive gaming
>for fucking vrchat
KEK
>gameplay > graphics.
cant roleplay as an anime girl unless you're rocking a vive pro with bodypucks/kinect bodytracking :)
>can buy used kinect for 1 usd
>expensive
Yeah ok? Have fun paying for a device with no games because no one's going to develop for such an expensive thing if one even existed with the current gen top of the line chip. And have fun without cooling. But if you're just arguing that mobile VR is shit because it's not PC VR then alright that's fine but then this is just the same old tired mobile/console gaming > PC gaming discussion so you can fuck off with that dead horse.
>implying people going to develop for mobile VR without being paid to shitify their games in advance
>tfw only use my vr headset to play old ass lightgun games
>superhot
literally an untextured unity game kek
>Beat Saber confirmed for Quest
Well I'm definitely getting one now then, exercise via vidya is the best thing
Or you know they could develop for Quest because they know the audience is going to be pretty big. The fact of the matter is that you will be able to just load up Beat Saber, bring it to a friend's house no matter how much of a normal fag they are, and you can tell them they can get their own and play in a matter of minutes without any setup or PC or console, for $400. Now don't tell me you don't know how successful Beat Saber has been compared to other VR games. And don't tell me now that you already know somehow that it won't play Beat Saber well enough, despite a lot of articles and videos of people saying otherwise, and despite some flaws that ultimately were small enough to not matter.
a downgraded version of beatsaber without custom songs, but yeah it'll be pretty fun
The only thing that really might make me get into VR is simulating 3D movies on an IMAX screen.
>exercise
i think i identified the cancer that is killing VR
we need to ban fat people from ruining VR with their retarded arm wiggling games
Would love to see a VR version of Time Crisis with physical ducking.
damn it i want this so bad for Time Crisis, Point Blank, etc. but there's no worthwhile VR app that supports it
Has there been any VR decent games that aren't just glorified tech demos or borderline smartphone games yet?
setting that up was a huge pain in the ass but I enjoyed being able to play Point Blank
which emulator/program did you use for these, New Retro Arcade: Neon?
facebook phone for your face
>is going to be pretty big
why are you lying to me
i am not a fucking facebook investor
>don't tell me you don't know how successful Beat Saber has been compared to other VR games
beat saber plateaued and is now SURPRISE SURPRISE in decline because that isn't a real game, retarded normies don't play any real games, they aren't interested in playing real games, they can't possibly want to play a real game, so they now started to move away from VR or are waiting for the next fad
the same thing happened with VRchat many months ago, these games are nothing more than the flavour of the month for the lowest tier retards to ever walk on earth, they won't simply feel like consuming other shitified games on the platform, they have a very specific autistic fixed interest for ONE thing and are barely sentient to even think for themselves
no
the closest thing to that are full ports, and some steam EA games are pretty good
this game is fantastic.
Fat people don't care about exercise user, that's why they're fat
Why the FUCK would someone pay $500+ to play a WORSE version of guitar hero in VR.
Kek
>why are you lying to me
It just makes sense. Mobile and console is a bigger market than PC whether it's VR or not. And even if it's VR, we already know that Go sold like a million units when the Rift might have only just broke that number.
>beat saber plateaued and is now SURPRISE SURPRISE in decline
That doesn't even matter because we're talking about relative success. Fads still bring more success to VR than games that do more consistently and that's the reality of it until we get more interest on the platform for better games to come to VR, which is basically Quest's main purpose. It's meant to be an entry point.
i dont know maybe ask these guys

You can't simulate 70mm film with a 640x480 VR headset.
35mm is about comparable to 5k/hobbit in clarity.
Why are people so obsessed with Beat Saber anyway? Isn't it just a run of the mill generic rhythm game with some added arm flailing?
>Yea Forums shits on VR for years
>The moment Nintendo announce cardboard VR: pic related
>nintendo drones
Ok, see you in ten years.
It's fun as hell. It doesn't seem like that big of a deal until you're the one playing it, slicing up flying boxes and dodging shit. It's a simple joy, but a pure one. There's very little in VR more physically satisfying.
It's funny, I don't care about any of the new experiences VR is supposed to offer. I'm only interested in light gun games and virtual pinball.
>without custom songs
never say never mate, didnt they let you mod shit on the go?
there are the "out of headset" apartment parts which arent polygonal.
>Things that never happened
Imagine being a victim complex snoybro
all games plataeu and decline. 1,271 active players is staggering for a vr game. literally cant think of any other game with those kinds of numbers besides maybe rec room and vrchat
you gotta play it, it's incredibly addictive
>Oculus
>Sony

other way around. obesity lowers metabolism which leads to lethargy.

i will tell you guys how something close to mainstream mobile VR can realistic work
you need to be in a dystopian cyberpunk reality where everything is connected and there is a google stadia around every corner so can have a headset that is nothing more than a display behind lenses with a receiver
and you will also need wearable glove tech for the controllers
God these threads suck.
it's basically the VR switch wheras oculus/wmr and vive are the big boy xbox and playstations
t. Fred.
essentially yea. Obviously there will be stuff the mobile processor simply can't handle just like the switch can't do modern AAA titles. But for 400$ it seems like an incredible piece of tech
Kinect tracking is awful
>forgetting snoy has their own vr
I guess it really is that bad.
kinect itself is awful
i wish this faggot would just die
I hope they add some mission levels to that game soon. Larger maps would be nice too.
VR is a meme fad thats already over
WHERE DID YOU LEARN TO FLY?

too bad there's zero content being pushed out. Steam's top selling and what's being experienced tab has been the same for 1+ year, everything that is always new and trending are just lazily made cash grabs

The game is atrocious without custom songs; The default songlist consists of 12 of the worst songs i've ever heard in my life.

Why are these automated spambots tolerated?

Epic
Not any time soon, at least from Varjo themselves. There is no general software support, middleware engines barely support foveated rendering at all. It's getting much better fairly quickly, but it will probably have to be one of the giants pushing it to finally make everything come together (VR APIs, game/app software, and middleware engine support).
I actually doubt there will be any commercial fixed foveated display HMDs, such as the Varjo, and rather that what will come to consumer markets will be fully dynamically foveated.
so that's why they split the old r/vive subreddit
they wanted to be able to do blatant shilling
Attempting to record VR games made me realize that most of my favorite games look underwhelming when converted to being flat. If I am not pressing switches in this game and I focusing on something, this just looks like any other flying game. It is really hard to convey what VR adds to seemingly basic game play without actually having the experience yourself. It makes me wonder if this is part of the problem of marketing expensive VR headsets. The only way to make VR stand out is doing things with your hands that simply would not be possible on a controller or mouse, but that is only a small part of what makes VR work so well.
Quest is their real 'gen 2', and it's significantly a 'sidegrade' by nature (trading extremely low quality for wireless). Rift S is a strategic product for the sake of marketing Quest by contrast and retroactively justifying retreat from the PC space altogether. Rift S is New Coke / Crystal Pepsi aspartame version for Quest which is the corn-syrup version.
>Rift S is a strategic product for the sake of marketing Quest
I had the same thought. It seems to exist just to make the Quest look better by comparison and get people to move. If the S did not exist, there would be people still attempting to hold out for the "real" Rift 2 that doesn't actually exist. By crushing people's hopes, there is no reason not to buy the Quest now except for the rare chance that Valve's "not too distant future" actually means some time this year.
Knuckles will be coming out this year, 99%. HMD may have been cancelled, delayed, or may have never actually existed at all (as a planned product).
Man VR porn is the shit, I just got back from punishing Marie Rose for killing millions in Playhome
just bought sairento, hope i didnt fuck up
should i buy a Vive now or wait for the cosmos?
Neither, get a WMR instead.
get wmr to tide you over until valve does something
the only one i'm interested in is the samsung oddysey+ and it's not available on my continent
the only way i can get one is ordering from amazon US and paying 100€+ on shippong and taxes
Buy an Oculus Quest until real gen 2 is out
wait for hpreveb. fuck oculus and there fucking oculus S low res shite.
Not him, but I'd unironically buy the Rift S any day over a WMR headset. Tracking on the WMR headsets are shit because of the whole, only 2 front facing cameras, thing.
>there are still people stuck on Rift/Vive
>not having Odyssey+, Vive Pro or Pimax by now
First gen its starting to look really outdated already
definitely don't wait on cosmos, it's not gonna be good.
that's a shame because odyssey+ (one sale for $300) is almost undoubtedly the best value in VR.
I dunno man, it's hard. Valve fucked up by not announcing anything at all at this GDC. We still have strong reason to believe their shit will be coming this year, but we just don't know, and with Valve that means it could be tomorrow or never.
with the hardware stagnation, vive + knuckle (when those release) will be the best setup one can possibly have as in performance
as to price it is the wmr
>Odyssey+
inside out tracking
>Vive Pro
not worth the price
>Pimax
chink shit
it's really telling that the killer app everyone pushes for vr is a fucking rhythm game of all things
I got a lenovo explorer for $180 and would totally recommend it to anyone at that price definitely skip on the vive and get WMR and wait for next gen for something better. I'm not buying another headset until there is a gen where most have features like adjustable ppd or at least have invented a way of coping with it. The sweet spot on the lenses isn't perfect
