I second the expert sphere grid. It's not harder but if you want to hit max stats to help fight the side bosses there's less grid to deal with and it doesn't hinder you at all.

You can fuck yourself over by late game if you're not strong enough the final boss was healing more damage than I was dealing because I ran from too many battles.

I believe this is a case in which the plot is just so fucking bad that it overshadows evrything else. I have't touched X2 since the original release and don't plan to ever replay it.

X-2 has a radically different tone from X, mainly because Spira is going through a period of evolution following the end of X.

Keep that in mind and don't expect the same kind of experience, though that's not to say X-2 is bad.

What are you guys thoughts on the vita? I'm interested in playing Vanillaware games like Dragon's Crown and Odin Sphere, however I would have to buy a console. Should I buy Vita, PS3 or PS4? Would buying a secondhand console be fine?

You will get a funny haha party member once you get past the opening act called Wakka. He seems like a big goof ball.

He's by and far the most overpowered bullshit party member I have ever seen in a Final Fantasy game. Do not sleep on him just because you don't like his accent, his personality, his face, or his blatant misinformed racism.

He really is the best there is. The game has boss fights where it makes you use certain party members. Wakka is almost always usable in every single one of these fights. Wakka is also the only party member whose basic attack is ranged.

Do not sleep on Wakka, his godly DPS, his status inflicting sports ball, or his wack weapon choices.

Khimari on the other hand can be completely ignored unless you like Blue Mage.

setting up your dressphere grids was the one mechanically fun part of the game, but atb still sucks overall

Is retroarch on vita even usable now? It sucked so much even when I could get games to run.

I burned the international version with Jap audio and Eng subs to play on the ps2 with swap magic. As always Jap dubs are more lively.

If you get the Asia region versions on Vita, you can get hard copies of both x and x2
The switch version is coming soon but idk if its going to be X on the card and X2 digital like on Vita or both on card, up to you if that's your thing

if you're thinking to play DS games on a vita for instance, best forget it (both retroarch and the standalone emulator are way too slow)

Furthermore, Khimari can be really good as a second mage if you ignore melee from the get go and go the magic route. Almost everything has an elemental weakness and having two mages is pretty OP.

Both are awful, but X-2 has some interesting gameplay mechanics that almost make up for everything else being shit.

English dub is mostly ok EXCEPT FOR MAIN CHARACTERS.

Especially Yuna, she's supposed to parallel Tidus's sports star persona but in English dub they straight up made her sound like doormat.
