WHM is kind of in the weird place that Priests in WoW were in for the longest time. They're also called "reflections" because they were all identical to Hydaelyn (the source world) AT THE TIME OF THE SEPARATION, and then all developed differently from there.

They're still tied to the Source because whenever a Calamity happens, Hydaelyn is forced to absorb one of the Reflections outright - there's been 7 Calamities, so there's been 7 Reflections outright taken back into Hydaelyn and no longer existing as separate entities. The Thirteenth fell victim to a Flood of Darkness and became the Void - it can't be rejoined with Hydaelyn anymore. The First is being flooded by Light.

We're supposed to get 'information patches', or something to the effect (affect?) of those words. It sounds like they're going to add a new class and they have the perfect opportunity to do geomancer or green mage, and geo is already a bit hindered by similarities to conjurer. But geomancers can bring the elements back to a world starved of them, while Green mage is affiliated with maces/hammers and viera. And it'd offer a healing melee class which would fit with the 'twist' nature of classes thus far: A semi-ranged tank, a ranged DPS when everyone expected dancer to be a healer or closer-ranged, and a melee healer would round it off nicely.

Hydaelyn sealed Zodiark in/as a moon. Calamities wreck her aether and she involuntarily absorbs one of the reflection shards to heal from total destruction. This serves to ultimately weaken her and her seal on Zodiark (I guess energy is lost in the coversion).

I main AST and I'd rather they reworked the "green dps with healing ogcds" design of healers while still trying to bait you into using gcd heals with gimmicky procs, or basing a whole job gauge around them like with WHM. No point in adding a new healer when they're falling behind the game's encounter design.

The zones are all just alternate universe recolors of existing zones. The job everyone vocally wanted across all forums to be healer wasn't in favor of stacking more DPS.
