Hunters do alright damage early on in raiding content, but will fall to the bottom by the end. Apparently they can help with pulling, but I don't have much vanilla raiding experience, I'm just going off what I've heard. There aren't many spots for Hunters anyway.

Argent Dawn RP is one of the biggest pulls on retail, because it's the only place left untouched. A lot of people, RP, user. I know you think it's all cringe and the mere thought is tainted with giant warlock with wings claimning to be the son of arthas/part worgen, but it's not all like that. However, Blizzard, some how, still found a way to taint it by added even more of there new class race things. Alot of people are expecting classic to be the purge, and just a comfy, nice, all normal races. There are lots of lots of adventures had, some of my greatest memories, just RPing with base stuff, just dwarf, human, night elf, etc. The actual proper side of RP. Creating a story for your character, talking, entire adventures being had. Doesn't really matter if its pvp or PVPRP, but even on retail, we've had mass war horde/vs alliance RP battles, which are just insanely fun.

you don't have to minmax, keep in mind since most raid content is 40 man you can seriously have 50% of the group being off meta builds in OK gear and still pull through, it might take a while but you can totally still do it. Since we all know you aren't going to land in the very tip top guilds that are looking to min-max and get server firsts, just play whatever the fuck you want and do whatever is enjoyable, find a more relaxed raiding guild and chill with bros while you do content.

People really overemphasis min-maxing when you really don't need to do it unless you are, again, gunning for the very top .5% of players. Beyond that you have a lot of wiggle room and nobody will honestly care about race/class combos.

Not him but enhance, orc or otherwise, has terrible uptime on the nightfall debuff. WF doesn't proc it (or at least is not supposed to, no clue about private servers).
Hunter has the most uptime by far by spamming wingclip.
Now, it's an extreme to have a hunter do it, and since 40mans are a lot of dudes, if you have an enhance who wants to raid and can get a nightfall made, no reason to not let him. But generally it's best to put on a off-tank.
Some tryhard pserver guilds will put it on a resto shaman or two even, and have them heal in between hitting boss.
Again to be clear, none of those situations are necessary, but just wanted to clear it up: enhance is not "best" for it but sure no biggie.
Hunter > warrior > enhance > ret as far as uptime. However, SOMEONE using nightfall is better than no nightfall.

Yeah we had an Enhance shaman that filled in as a healer a lot when needed so when we had enough healers we just said fuck it and let him do what he wanted, he was one of the people who bothered showing up for every raid in our guild anyways.
When our first Eye of Sulfuron dropped none of the Warriors wanted it to actually use it, so we let the Shaman take it for giggles since that fireball proc is hilarious with Windfury, and I dunno what money or favors he pulled out of his ass but he got all the materials for Sulfuras in under a week.

It's a theory so there isn't a confirmation, tho july is as good a guess as any (and the blue post declaring "it will be a classic summer" at least SOUNDS like it wont be the literal last day of summer).
The gist is that during the blizzcon presentation on classic, they had two gnomes in the character screen - july and osconty. Osconty is level 16, when you look up Osconty he has a recorded patchwork kill on july 16th 2006.

They also get +5% spirit from their base racial so *technically* if you already have enough dwarf priests, the human one will pull ahead with raw numbers. You don't need 8 fear wards. Night Elf priest is useless except for shadowmeld MC shenanigans

Desperate Prayer is Holy so it pulls you out of Shadow Form, but it's an alright "OH FUCK" button if your PW Shield runs out. Feedback was weird but I guess it's like the anti-caster version of Touch/Hex of weakness that Forsaken and Trolls got.
As far as emergency healing goes Devouring Plague was way stronger but also had a longer cooldown.

Engineering: OP for pvp
Alchemy: Arcanite transmute gets you money, crafting pots/flasks may get you money
Tailoring: Mooncloth gets you money, has useful gear that you need tailoring for for mage/warlock, and priest to a lesser extent (unless you're shadow, in case it's as good as for mage/lock)
Enchanting: Good moneymaking if you get recipes from raids and advertise your shit all the time/become well known.
LW: Offers nothing useful that you can't get from others
BS: Money sink, offers nothing useful that you can't get from others

Herb: Some herbs sell for decent amounts, black lotus especially
Mining: Ok money
Skinning: You barely get vendor price for your skins

Resto druids have a res they can use in combat as well as a spell called Innervate which really eases mana pressure for a main healer. They've got their place. Their actual healing isn't amazing but hey, it's a hybrid. Shamans have shit to do aside from healing too.

based. I'm not even going priest nor nelf, I'll be playing orc shaman. I just think it's funny. And to be fair shadowmeld isn't required for it but i think it's far funnier with it for the surprise ambush factor.

They're good for keeping tanks up between big heals or helping keep the raid topped off against constant AOE but they're not as mana efficient as priests, so usually a few per raid is good since they at least have Gift of the Wild and Innervate.

If you lay out folders in the same file structure as the folders in your games data files you can overwrite existing sounds with custom ones if you name them the same, I used it to port the EQ levelup sound to live. not sure what the path you need is but basically open your games data folder with an editor and make a copy of the path to whatever sound you want then place a sound file with the same name (I think in a .ogg format). If none of that made sense google it because I'm shit at explaining things.

Oddly Feral Druids CAN actually work as good DPS but it requires farming some weapon (?) with a use effect that boosts your attack power , but it only has 3 charges so you need all your bags to be full of them for a full raid, and constantly shifting in and out of Cat form to regain 60 energy faster than the normal ticks, generally isn't worth the effort.
It's been mentioned before though that a quarter of a 40 man can literally be braindead and it's still possible to pull through so don't worry too hard, just don't do anything intentionally retarded.

Druid it is then. A really good druid is top tier in wpvp usually. Only downfall is that you lack a rez so if you do dungeons make sure you have a pally in the group or jumper cables.

That's why I mentioned priest after mage/lock. Mages and locks get robe of the archmage and robe of the void respectively, but on top of those, they get the set bonus from bloodvine which lasts from ZG until you get a few specific pieces from AQ40.

Only the super tryhard guilds are wildly autistic about raid compositions and chances are you wouldn't want to play with them anyhow. They don't even have fun, or at least not like a normal person would recognize it.
40man is a lot of people so finding 40 dudes that are dependable enough to show up on time, bring consumes, and not be obnoxious faggots for 3 hours is a hard hard hard sell. This means if you're friendly, stay positive, and willing to help others, you'll get a spot.
The counter to that is that while there are plenty of spots and every class has a role, not every spec is deemed necessary. Some specs underperform considerably and are considered dead-weight. And those specs are among the first to get bitched at if the guild/raid encounters roadblocks, not to mention potential loot issues depending on the guild's loot system.

Your best bet is to find a guild that plays when you do and seems chill, and go from there. Like others have said, portions of the raid can be zombies and you'll still clear shit adequately. But often people will use that as an excuse to be awful on purpose.
If you want to be a hybrid class, come with the attitude that you can fulfill a different role if necessary. No one appreciates a night where 2 priests are out sick and you have an enhance who has healing spells in his spellbook and even some healing gear he got when everyone else already had it, but refuses to heal for an evening to help out.

I was there when I could tap Bestial Wrath + Intimidate and just laugh at clothies as my command racial pissed off Rape Rake bent them over for a shag and then feigning death after they had been trying to cast shit at me for over 3 seconds and cancelling out their spell entirely shortly before they died.

I was there when I rolled a Draenei Priest on a fresh released TBC realm and our entire guild group ended up respeccing for dungeon grinding to level up to 70. Because you sure as fuck weren't leveling up any other god damn way on those ridiculous 30-50 H:A ratio servers, which were all BEs and UD's so good luck doing anything as Priest.

I'll have some shithead Rogue or Huntard alt on the PvP server for ganking fun but I sure as fuck don't want to deal with it as a resto shaman outside of BGs.

Whats the best spec to level as a warlock? Affliction seems like the go to choice, but I don't know much about the class in vanilla.

It seems like demo could be good but I don't know how good warlock pets are. Destruction seems to be focused on shadowbolt and an odd mix of destruction spells later on in the tree.

Is destruction viable for leveling like fire is for mages or is it trash? Likewise with demonology. Does it work well or do pets not do enough damage for it to matter?

Your build will look something like this. You only need 3/5 suppression for yellow mobs. If you want to kill orange mobs or try to kill people much higher level than you, you can max it. Otherwise the points can be put elsewhere, like imp CoEx for pvp purposes, fel conc or imp drain life. Same thing with that one point in imp CoEx.

After that there is some variations. There are people who swear by not picking dark pact and going for imp voidwalker, and keep leveling with voidwalker. I never really saw the point in that. Picking up dark pact and switching to imp, using it as a mana battery while getting your shadoweave gear at 40-45 for massive increase in dot damage, seemed better to me. It does require a lot more effort while leveling because you're juggling a few mobs at the same time. Need to know how much damage your dots do and how much hp the mobs have so optimal play. Proper movement is also important. If you have a void to tank with, it's a lot simpler.

Interesting that is the case then. Maybe playing retail the last several expansions in the era of parsing has really made me turn a blind eye to the classic community. Even if a spec is "bad" because it is ~3-5% less dps in simming or assuming equal gear and performance than the top specs they are essentially blacklisted.

I didn't suck and played "bad" specs but still parsed incredibly well and beat many "good" specs on damage because they did suck. And I still got regularly turned down for almost any pug content and even several guild apps because of my class and the stigmas related.

I just assumed classic would have been even worse because they gave way less of a shit about balancing things back then so there is even more disparity.

This is pretty much my outlook. I just show up on time, positive, with my consumables and do my job, I want to have good times and down bosses.. I just want to play resto druid since its my ultimate class fantasy. I am scared shitless going in about leveling for a week /played only to lose spots. I have a friend who was way too into vanilla private servers and raiding on them and is adamant about resto druids being bad because they lack the throughput of other healers and are "low prio" invites for raids.

Your friend is an autist. Yes, there's going to be more priests, shamans or paladins in a raid group. It's a given. But Resto Druids aren't exactly a common breed anyway. You'll find spots.

FFXIV is a whole different beast, and it fucking sucks. Everyone cares so much about parsing in that game it still blows my mind. If a job doesn't increase the rest of the group's dps potential (and as a result, hurts their parse) its complete ass and has no place in any group. Its what ultimately lead to me quitting the game. Even at their very worse, I've never seen wow parseshitters care that much; though admittedly wow does a much better job (even shitty retail) of making any individual's dps less dependent on other people existing in the group.

Druids aren't overpopulated, they're going to be the least played class on each faction. An optimal raid doesn't need a lot of them but that doesn't mean you're going to be turned away either.
Also your buddy is retarded for a different reason - it's not about "finding a guild", it's "finding a guild that raids on nights when i can raid". A lot of private server players are neets and thus have 24/7 available, consequently they do not care about raid days or times. Functioning adults do and that's the guild you'd be looking for, and those guilds don't have the luxury of being maximum autists about raid compositions even if they wanted to.

Looking forward to the screeching from pserver "vanilla veterans" as the members who have sworn up and down they'll all join the same server are decimated and divided by regional servers.

Even though in an "optimal" raid comp you don't take that many druids to a raid, they're still underplayed compared to that number.

Pic is numbers from nost level 60 people. While in an "optimal" comp you'd want 3 druids on alliance side, for example, the server only had 1.5 druids per 40 people. As a result, despite the lower absolute demand for druids compared to many other classes, due to the low supply of them, there's still a healthy demand for them.

This doesn't even take into account that some of those druids are people who don't want to be resto, which doesn't apply to all classes. This further increases their demand.

Yeah you'll have great fun then. I picked up Shaman after dabbling around on a Mage for a bit and I had a lot of fun. I'll be playing one on classic.

I grew out of warlock, now I usually play two type of classes, either Necro or Raw Natural with preference on human/undead races and then on nature classes, so in wow it's Undead Mage/Human Death Knight, in diablo it's Sorceress/Druid/Witch Doctor, in GW2 it's either Necro or Elementalist and so on, depending if I'm in doomer or bloomer phase of life

I am pretty much new to the game, so I just decided to roll a Troll shaman with Alchemy/Herbalism as professions, pretty standard stuff as far as I know.
I like how male troll looks as a shaman, I feel like even the posture fits the class.

Literally anything you can get your hands on that has MP5 or healing power. You're not really there to DPS like in some MMOs. It's very important you keep your mana sustained and it's not unheard of in this game to use lower ranks of spells to maintain threat generation and mana.

I always played pvp back in the day but only since my friends did. I never liked the pvp and all it meant was getting ganked in stv for days. Personally I'm going to try and just power through one but not go super hard at it. I think its better in the long run to just have that first 60 available to run content with and build relationships.

I always found alting to be a really dangerous prospect in early expansions. It gets so easy to lose interest in one character when things hit a lull and never make any real progress on any one character. Starting and playing too many alts is what ultimately lead me to hitting 60 so late into vanilla that I didn't even get to really do any end game. It helps that I actually know what each class does from personal experience now so I don't need to get everything to 20+ to get a feel for if I like it like I did back then.

I'm not a warrior enthusiast but I'll give you tips from my experience.

Arms for the safe-bet bread and butter progression you only fuck it up if you intentionally want to do so. The downside is that you'll rather see grass growing, and the most exciting thing you'll get is an overpower proc. Its incredibly dull until you get mortal strike.

Fury is more interesting, but there will be times you wish you were arms. Also it hungers for good gear.

Prot if you hate yourself.

Nobody cared about Ironfoe back then. This weapon is a private server meme and nobody will care in Classic either.

Never level as prot. Absolutely never level as prot.

You either level as fury or arms until 40. Both have their benefits. At 40 arms generally becomes better because you get mortal strike, so if you were fury, you should respec then. Regardless, you're using a 2h weapon, which you want to keep up to date. Keep an eye out for these: deadmines (smite's hammer), bfd (hydra strike), rfk (corpsemaker), whirlwind axe, SM alliance quest (bonebiter), the shit that drops from uldaman, maraudon (theradras' hammer).

Prot isn't required to tank any dungeons. Even in early raids, your off tanks might be fury.

AS of RIGHT NOW, nu blizzard is not involved with this. its two separate teams. classic team, so far, seem pretty based.

Shaman T3 is easily in the top 5 for all tier sets.

You'll want omen of Clarity in balance and Furor in Resto for some quality of life. Your downtime is reduced by healing as you go. Omen keeps your mana up and Furor will get you back to dealing damage sooner.

It's a 2 minute cooldown so you'll get to use it often. In PvE you could for instance war stomp to stun some mobs. Only a 0.5 second cast. In PVP it could mean stunning people long enough to get off a clutch heal you otherwise couldn't pull.

Put your points in feral, then resto for furor or balance for natural weapons and omen of clarity. I strongly recommend going feral right away because at 20-21 you'll get feline swiftness. 30% run speed is extremely good with all the running in vanilla, since you don't get travel form until 30.

Tribute farm, something only hunters can really do and only if they don't fix it, gets you quite a bit more. DM-E farming iirc gets you a similar 30-40g/h. Warriors can't farm anything properly though, so you won't get numbers like that. I guess you can try to charge people for tanking dungeons? Who knows.

When dire maul opens, shaman can farm DM:E lashers, similar to mages but a little more ghetto. It may change a little since /sit to proc eye of the storm won't work (i think) but still very doable.
Don't sleep on fishing - it's boring but free money. You're going to be fishing for nightfin anyhow and you'll end up with oily blackfish as well - sell those or if you can get an alt not-that-high and buy cheap herbs to get alch up, make FAPs and sell those.

If you sum up all the drops and average them, you'll arrive at an average of 35g (iirc) for 5 runs, which is the max you can do in an hour. 5 runs (tinkerer, princess, rotgrip) will probably take you that long anyway. If it takes you less than that, then good job, except you can't reset the dungeon now, and you'll have to go do something else. But now you're wasting time traveling.

That's why it essentially maxes out at 35g/h unless you sell blackstone ring runs.

No it doesn't, my min when I was unlucky was 40g but generally the average is around 45g, it only gets bad when you get multiple blackstone rings during your cycle since they are unique, there's also herbs and mining nodes on the route plus you can do the stone boss if you want to increase the gold.

In full t2 gear and normal pve or pvp spec my best recond was about 8:30 seconds per run, with most of the time spent running, if you spec for bm for farming you can basically kill bosses in about 15 seconds regardless of gear.

That said by the time AQ came out I was fully enchanted, regularly crafted engi stuff for pvp and bought reagents + respeccing once a week between pve and pvp while ranking up to 11, running a full cycle of maraudin between once to twice a day (so 5/10 times a day) I ended up with 2k gold.

Redid my claculations and it's 43g on average. A bit lower if you account for blackstone ring being unique, so you can put the maximum there. Doing faster runs doesn't really help you, because if you want to do more than 5 runs then you'll have to wait anyway, and if you only do 5 runs, then you should be accounting the travel time to the dungeon in the first place.

Depends actually, time is money and time is everything in classic, just doing 5 runs a day and then off to farm dungeons/pvp/raids/mats or whatever is great.

In other cases you can do 5 quick runs, go level an alt and rinse and repeat or perhaps you already have other alts so you can do 5 quick runs and then go farm ZG/DM on your mage or whatever.

In vanilla when you respec does it cost gold per point or do you pay 1g to respec everything, then 5g to respec everything again, etc?
