Did Yea Forums pre order FF8 in 1999?
I was still a fetus then
but maybe
I wish. Growing up my parents didn't have a lot of money. Sometimes I got new games on Christmas. Most of the time we rented instead of bought so pre ordering games was never even a thought
>It´s the 8th game
>9.9.99
I don't remember games of that time period being available for pre-orders
I was still just a child in 1999. I wasn't even aware pre-ordering existed and even if I had known about it I don't know if my parents would've done it for me.
This promo would've worked better with an Altima, since that's a car that might actually make you think of FF for a brief second, but a teenagers-first-shitbox fits FF9 better
>Toys R Us
Rip
Probably would not
t. born in 2000
I did. Still have the receipt and player's guide around somewhere.
At that time I didn't even understood the concept of preordering.
Though ym father was a huge fan of Final Fantasy, so he got FF7 and 8 on PC when they were released. I still remember the first time I saw FF7 intro.
Even when I was young I found FF8 just really weird, I much more prefer the style of FF7.
There were no preorders where i live. Most of the games you got from somewhere. russia, estonia etc.
Me and my best friend were the only two people waiting outside Electronics Boutique, which later became GAME, on launch day at opening time. There just wasn't a big fuss, we got our copies, read the manual on the bus home then ran to our bedrooms to play. We checked in on progress each day, I was stuck on the fucking ship because I was using a black and white TV due to my bedroom TV being broken and not being allowed to play vidya on the family TV. I don't know what happened to that friendship, we would play SFEX+alpha all summer and do challenge runs of FF games for fastest time or most items collected. I miss the guy, he put up with my autistic annoying habits when nobody else would, but by the time I'd grown out of them I guess he'd had enough of my shit.
Why is the Valve logo sticking out of it's ass?
>that car is sitting busted up in a junkyard or on a used car lot for $400 right now
>EB Games, Toys'R'Us, Funcoland, Hollywood Video, K.B.Toys, Babbages
sad
I didn't even know what pre-ordering was back then. I just ran to Circuit City after school the day it came out and bought it with money I stole out of my foster dad's nightstand drawer.
>every single retailer listed at the bottom except Best Buy is gone
Holy shit, I would assume you were my best friend in middle school if not for the fact that we never waited outside an Electronics Boutique together.
>some huge gentrified shopping center opens up
>one of the buildings has a 'toys r us coming soom' banner over it
>a week later I see a closure sign on it and the building wasn't even half completed yet
Cracks me up something fierce.
i was 9 so nah
No I preordered the Dreamcast and half the launch lineup instead.
handing out free (you)'s to ranom people since this thread doesn't have alot of replies
>normalfags with friends smuggling all that shit that i definitely don't care about, in my face on my fucking board
i hate you all
>yfw Quistis never wore high heel boots
I pre-ordered it, but didn't enter to win the car.
I didn't enjoy the game much, and haven't played it since.
They should have gone for 8.8.88
Holy fucking shit
My wife and i still talk about this
she wanted that fucking echo
No silly, most of Yea Forums wasnt even born for another 7 years
In Canada EB Games and Toys R Us still exists. Even though EB Games is just Gamestop these days.
You couldn't give me a toyota echo
I could of sworn it came out a little earlier.
Maybe that is because I played the demo disc when it was released.
I only rented the game since I was poor.
Only had a snes
>Actual prize vehicle may vary.
Here's your "toyoda."
Fairly vanilla car for a FF prize.
So you mean it's still worth more than the game?
Then you have a bad memory. The OoT gold cartridge was a pre-order incentive. Metal Gear Solid's demo was a pre-order incentive.
I did.
That was even my first car
1998/1999 is when I started to lose interest in video games. I played FF7 and SOTN but not FF8 or OOT.
True story: I was working at Babbages in the mall when FFVIII came out. I stole a copy from the box of pre-orders that we had set aside (for people to pick up their pre-orders). Some poor bloke never got his FFVIII because I was a typical shithead teen that needed to get my ass kicked.
Oh, I forgot ... I should mention that Babbages, like EB Games, was one of the many game store franchises that got consumed by Game Stop. A lot of people here probably are too young to know.
