Nobody is fucking buying physical games, boss. Everything is digital now. And even if it wasn’t, game releases are FAR less frequent now because ofthe focus on games-as-service, DLC/MTX, subscriptions, etc., none of which make money for retail stores.

Gamestop is dead. It will have to restructure into something that doesn’t primarily sell games. Which it already has, and people hate it, but those same people don’t generate enough revenue to keep the lights turned on.

The Hot Topic in my city actually closed down recently, retail in general is just a dying industry until we'll be left with highly specialized stores with knowledgeable associates or catch-all megastores like Walmart. Embracing online avenues is the way to go otherwise.

stores like target and wal-mart are selling new games at the same price so they have to make their money on used products. the used market has taken a hit since digital became so popular, and people are starting to catch on to the fact that they sell scratched discs and people really don't like making returns.

>be less pushy in stores
>close (more) bad locations
>create a membership that gives you 20% off pre-orders
>maybe other deals
>focus on online
>partner with Redbox
They should really focus on creating a membership program like Amazon Prime that gives people special deals and benefits that they can charge a small fee each month for and lock people into their platform.
