It's fucking brilliantly made to be honest.
I don't know if it's one of the best games ever, but it's on my top 10 for sure.
I think its use of the MGS IP couldn't possibly have been better.

>the most low key best
What actually the fuck are you asking?

Yes its one of the most fun games ever but can it really be considered low key?

Not even the most low key masterpiece by Platinum, or even the most low key masterpiece directed by Kenji Saito.

Attached: 220px-Transformers_Devastation_cover_art.jpg (220x244, 34K)

What the fuck does that even mean?

That and Ace Combat 7 are high-test kino games

Real talk, will we ever get a sequel?

if it was Jetstream, yes

never ever
and the new KLK game isn't being made by platinum either
hope and dreams = shattered

Konami might want to try and mend relations with fans of its gaming franchises without spending much and commission Platinum to make Rising 2, which is probably the biggest Metal Gear project they could do without Kojima that people would accept.

No. Remember Nier Automata happened because MGR got cancelled.

Truly Kenji Saito is the best developer at Platinum.

I remember an interview with him where he was making a Mario Maker level, and he put a final Bowser encounter halfway through the beginning of the level because in his mind, it sets tone and inverts expectations of structure. Meanwhile everyone’s favorite blockbug Kamiya is busy adding another Afterburner minigame to whatever the fuck he’s shitting out next.

Saito is the last great talent still making games at P*, and Transformers Devastation is his best work to date.

absolutely overrated

MGR2 isn't out of the question though, you retard.

It's really that good of a game, honestly.
My only personal gripe with it is that when you chop shit up, the innards of stuff feel half-assed, what with them just being textures instead of actual insides showing components and such.
I blame the fact that it would be an incredible undertaking for such a small aspect of the game nobody would really care much about when all anyone wants to do is just cut shit into ribbons.

It was once before. Konami doesn't give a shit.

It's actually a very underrated game. This man is wrong.

What makes it so good? I played the demo years ago but never picked it up because the gameplay seemed a little awkward, but I might be into it now.

the animations are fantastic
the parry system is simple but satisfying and difficult to master
the game has a very weird, endearing sense of humour and hokiness in all aspects
boss fights are great
level design is great
it's all-around just a really fun time

It wasn't the metal gear rising I wished for but the one I didn't even know I wanted

It's the best action movie ever made, made videogame.

Opposite, most overrated turd. One of platinums worst mechanically but everyone overlooks it because meme music

It's platinums best selling game. Not underrated in the slightest

And what is Platinum's best, mechanically?

That doesn't mean shit. It's underrated in the sense that it's rarely ranked as one of the best games of the last decade, when it should be.

you forgot to mention the amazing soundtrack, boss fights and use of the MGS ip.

-Common enemies are boring to fight
-Game doesn't know if it wants to be a stealth game or an action game.
-Levels are straight forward, but wouldn't be so bad if the combat was fleshed out more (See Ninja Gaiden 2)
-Levels are generally all the same settings with few variations of globalist business buildings, and army compounds.

Its a good game, but these are major issues holding it back from being the best.

It's more a movie than a game and game mechanics are extremely shallow, every boss but the robot dog, Sam and The Senator are easy as shit
It's good tho but not the best, it's nowhere near the level if DMC 3 or Ninja Gaiden Black

Bayonetta 1
>its underrated
>no it's not, it's popular
>STFU THAT DOESNT MATTER
Holy shit fucking kill yourself. Everyone was singing praises about MGR since release. It's not underrated or a hiden gem at all. It's also not a good game and a shining example of why Platinum games has become so stale. And don't give me that year-long development exuse either when DMC4 was rushed to shit but was the most mechanically complex action game before 5.

MAKING THE MOTHER OF ALL OMELETTES, JACK

>Common enemies are boring to fight
>Game doesn't know if it wants to be a stealth game or an action game
These two are kind of connected. I think one of the game's biggest strengths is how it combines stealth and action. In previous MGS games, they would focus on blockbuster action movie set-pieces with gun porn and explosions, but the gameplay itself is meant to be about sneaking around an patiently waiting for soldiers to turn their backs. There's a weird disjunct. In Rising, the stealth basically boils down to being a robot ninja running around and getting up behind PMC backs and slashing them in two. It's integrated very well into the core gameplay, which is slicing cunts up. Blood-pumping action, which is fetishised in prior MGS games while you're also told to sneak around and not indulge in it.
From my memory, fighting common enemies is made interesting through this decision between stealth kills or killing them man-to-man. The levels are linear, but I remember them allowing this freedom in a very focused and well-designed way. I also remember there being more variety in settings than you describe, such as a (fake??? can't remember) traditional Japanese level.

Armstrong is the best final boss in any game, and even if his gameplay isn't Vergil 3 tier it's still just so god damn fun, especially with the buildup and the music
STANDING HERE

>The master copy/source code was just straight up deleted from Activision's servers in December

Supposedly Platinum still has the source, why wouldn't them? Also you can still buy it new from Europe, at least for PS3/PS4.

The level before Sundowner has that weird fake Japanese town at the top of the building, yes. And there was the Mexican sewer level, and I would say parts of Denver felt different enough too with the shopping mall area before Monsoon.

Jap companies never keep master copies, ever.

Shut up, you speak nonsense.

Attached: 1551687076601.png (508x590, 365K)

It was shit. I hate Metal Gear Rising Revengeance and I hate Raiden. Jack the Ripper is the edgiest retarded shit I've ever seen and I used to be 12. Fuck all of you. I hope you all die before I do.

Really good, though among the weak platinum games. Also a democrat power fantasy.

>common enemies are boring to fight
You mean doing stylish dismemberments and watching the human potato mash form from their bodies isn’t eternally satisfying
>doesn’t know if it’s wants to be action or stealth
Most of the forced stealth is in the beginning. The rest is pure action with a few bits of downtime here and there.

It's true user. This is why the Silent Hill HD Collection was a disaster, well more of a disaster anyway. The Bluepoint HD remasters of MGS, ICO, SOTC etc. were all done with a custom piece of software ripping assets from retail copies which is why they're not perfect.

>-Game doesn't know if it wants to be a stealth game or an action game.

It was meant to be both, then they disabled rankings for stealth kills late in development.

I never expected the game to return but that's a real punch to the dick. I wonder if the War for Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron/Platinum Korra source codes are just lost to time as well.

I'll never forget about Devastation, and I'll fucking unironically shill it for free now that nobody can even make money off of it because it's just that good. I recommend anybody that likes action games or Transformers get their hands on a copy however you can. I'm sure pirates will keep it around for PC users and there's four consoles that got it on disc, so it's not as bad as digital-only games like Afterburner Climax or Scott Pilgrim (or Korra if it got delet too).

It was a better MGS5 than MGSV was desu

bluepoint games are great. I remember MGS3 on 360 was pretty good. I hope they give the silent hill games a proper pc release some day

This is perhaps the least low key game in existence.

Attached: 1535665405599.png (231x308, 147K)

does it not run for you? it's been okay as far as japanese PC ports go for me.

Nigger speak for "most underrated good game"

>I wonder if the War for Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron/Platinum Korra source codes are just lost to time as well.
Platinum Korra is probably still there, but 100% all the Transformers games are gone. Activision lost the license late last year and said they would be deleting all source code/master copies from their internal servers in December. They had no plans to renew the license and as far as I'm aware it's still hovering doing nothing when it comes to game licensing.

Attached: 1551812985654.jpg (720x600, 43K)

are you retarded?
It's DMC4 levels of optimization, it fucking runs under WINE.

Sure, for you hipster faggots.

What? It runs flawlessly for me.

they managed to get 2 and 3 running smoothly on the vita which is a damn accomplishment

it's a mediocre game with amazing presentation

There's nothing mediocre about it.

I like this game but
>stealth sections
>no boss mode unless on pc
>weapons other than sword suck
> unless if you need to take out helicopters
>btw flying enemies in some sections can be impossible to hit, so you just stand there waiting, sometimes for a minute to get an attack in

PC has a boss rush mode? never heard of this before

>lose license
>delete production materials from the face of existence even though SOMEBODY must always have the license (Hasbro in this case) instead of letting them hoard the stuff

What the FUCK is wrong with their brains. This is literally a case of abandonware except you didn't have to wait 20 years. And then whoever the fuck picks up the licensing for this game will be shit out of luck unless they go the gog route and start selling cracked versions with compatibility issues.

It's not a true boss rush, but you can access it by entering the Konami code on the main menu.

>source code deleted
fucking hell, that's just a travesty.

I hope Robert Conkey is at least upset, he seemed to actually give a shit about P*'s work on these titles.

>btw flying enemies in some sections can be impossible to hit
Afterburner Kick and also use your fucking rocket launcher.

Nothing in the game is impossible to hit.

Never understood the love for this game
>You can mash your way through with ease and the only thing the higher difficulties change is how often you parry
>Obnoxious buttrock trying way too hard to make the player feel cool for mashing
>Everything that's actually cool in the game happens during fucking QTEs
>More often than not there's a button prompt on your screen
>All the boss weapons are so undercooked people forget they even exist
>90% of the game's value centers around bad quotes and the internet memes they spawned
I've played through this game like 3 times and still don't get it

user, one example doesn't speak for a while nation.
Hell, Atlus was one of the few devs to actually give us a modern port of a Saturn game.

It's an action game for people who don't understand action games. Its cutscene-cheese is top-notch and so if you're the kind of person who loved Bayo, DMC, etc., for shit like Dante killing things with a motorcycle, it's solid gold. If you're the kind of person who likes to actually play action games, you immediately figure out how easy it is to abuse the systems in place.

Until you play the Jetstream Sam DLC, and then it becomes a masterpiece.

>just parry bro

I played it on release. I remember it being a blast but having a few issues, like being thin on content. Isn't one mission just the boss fight with Sam and that's it? It's obvious they stretched the game out

Thats Vagrant Story and Valkyrie Profile

This. Revengeance is a midpoint between Platinum's normal action titles and Metal Gear. Raiden can still stealth, use sub-weapons, etc. There's still a ludicrous story with muh nanomachines with just a tinge of extra insanity. Sam is the game's base mechanics but with all the Metal Gear stripped off outside of superficial aspects, and he's a blast to play. Sam's Armstrong fight is also way more involved and a much more challenging.

Wolf is an interesting playthrough since he's more heavily stealth-based with a more limited moveset. It's not the most fun 2 hours of that game, but Khamsin is a really interesting boss.

>this game is so shit I don't get it
>I've played through it 3 times

Attached: 1547312222785.jpg (412x552, 21K)

Actually, the reason Sam is amazing is that he relies on a dodge instead of parry spam (since non-perfect parries stagger the fuck out of him and prevent cheesing it with toward+X mash) and is basically built around deciding when to Taunt.

Great taste, user. I still love MGR to pieces tho.
>Vagrant Story 2 never ever
I don't give a shit if the fucking FF MMO is set in the same world. Give me VS2.

>Drop a game early, don't like it
>"You didn't even play it/didn't play the REAL mode!"
>Drop a game after playing it thoroughly and forming a full opinion on it
>"Woooww if you hate it so much why'd you play it?"

>buy xbox one
>own ninja gaiden black, dmc 1-5, bayonetta, metal gear rising, nier automata and vanquish all on the same console

this is honestly the best decision I have made in my life

Attached: 1508452575300.jpg (865x760, 48K)

Its a great game. I stopped playing it after you kill that guy outside the big headquarters where Raiden goes insane during the fight. Not sure why I dropped it but I hope they make a sequel.

I hate Xbox controllers compared to Dualshocks and I really don't want to buy a system just for backwards compatibility since there's nothing exclusive to it I want if you count Steam, but that does seem nice.

I definitely want to try some Ninja Gaiden but I've never had any Xbox, so I guess my options are Sigma on PS3 and Razor's Edge on WiiU since Sigma II is apparently shit.

I don't like the Sigma games personally, and don't think I could tolerate using the DS3's R2 trigger all the time as it's your main form of quick transportation
Black is put on a pedestal because of it's technical, visual and gameplay prowess
Sigma kinda falls on all fronts - they threw a shitload of bloom on everything, it has more load times and more frame drops and they bloated the campaign out with obligatory Rachael missions that suck
but if you can't get hold of Black, Sigma isn't the end of the world

IN THE MUD AND SINKING DEEPER

Trying to be precise with Blade Mode™ while using a mouse is a fucking nightmare. Other than that, there's not complain from me. It runs as smooth as butter and I've been playing it on fucking toasters.

It has probably the best collection of bosses in the genre, and some of the best use of music in boss fights. But the combat is kind of shallow overall and the bulk of the missions are mediocre. The second half of the game feels unfinished with how short some of the chapters are.

Used to LOVE MGR when I played it a few years ago when I was younger.
Whenever I try and replay it now that I'm older, it just doesn't have the same charm anymore, and I don't mean that I know everything that happens and how the game goes, it just doesn't feel as exciting anymore.

I played some games that are supposed to be somewhat similar to it in the whole goofiness and cheesy script thing, Vanquish for example and even those don't seem to have the same charm anymore, they're interesting for a bit but then I find myself just sleep-walking through them for the most part. What the fuck is happening?
