This, unironically. People who say it's for babies have not played Woolly World. Based on the trailers and gameplay I've seen from later stages, difficulty ramps up considerably and matches previous Yoshi titles. The first stage is just a cakewalk to get people accustomed to egg throwing mechanics, the flip gimmick and general controls.

I feel like they go too hard with the "cute" aesthetic. I know I was a child when I played Yoshi's Island the first time, but there were levels that had mysterious/cool/foreboding atmospheres from time to time in those games. I feel like if it was just a little less saccharine it could win a wider audience then very small children (as even older children might be put off by it if the game looks like its "for babies").

I preordered it, but I haven't actually looked into the game yet beyond the fact it's a Yoshi game. Now everyone in the thread is saying it's bad and it's giving me some doubts.

I'm new to yoshi games and normally dont go anywhere near games with childiah aesthetics but I'm on world 3 of Yoshis Island and yep, this is a damn good video game. Is there any point to getting 100s on all stages cuz some of them seem kinda tough to get 100 on?

I mean, you're not wrong because games like TLoU and CoD are so simple you could sleep through it and finish it but the demo for this wasn't good.

Yoshi Story was a huge disappointment for me as a kid after having Yoshi's Island as my childhood defining game.
Then I skipped all the shit after, until at like 24 I played Woolly World, and loved it. Not as much as YI, but close.
