Play the spiritual predecessor to Metroid Prime.

I beat it yesterday and it was fantastic.

It had too many fucking guns, especially since most were direct upgrades like the auto shotgun

Metroid Prime fans should play it

Switch version worth it? Something about it being twenty bucks seemed odd.

just play it on pc
it's regularly on sale, pirating is also a option
and mouse and keyboard is basically a must.

First time playing it, played through the first level yesterday at work after picking it up on Switch.

Shocked that it's taken me this long to play it, didn't have an N64 growing up and starting to realise just what I missed out on.

I played it for the first time on PC when night dive remastered it, it was a surprising amount of fun.

I got it on Switch as well, I'd never played it before but thought is was fantastic. Lot's of adventure and exploration.

What was his problem?

Attached: Primagen_Render_2.png (534x537, 384K)

>Turok 1 is fantastic
>aside from production values, Turok 2 is dogshit
what happened?

Attached: 1551509780639.jpg (1024x788, 98K)

He spent like a billion years locked in a spaceship.

Good romp of a single player game.
Should have bought it by now something holding me back.

>we will never get something cool like Turok ever again
even the comics ended up being a disappointment it just ain't fair bros

Attached: 1547610794459.png (492x503, 439K)

Turok 2 was more polished.
Turok 3 was a steaming pile of elephant shit.

>Play the spiritual predecessor to Metroid Prime.

>spiritual successor
How so? Turok is actually fun to play, unlike Metroid Prime which is the clunkiest first-person game I have ever played and was incredibly archaic.

You made this thread yesterday you n64 sperg. Imagine being this fucking dry needing a pat on the back for finishing turok.

>Turok 1
>not archaic and clunky

Attached: you made me reply.jpg (726x592, 99K)

Yeah. It's because it's remastered. It's perfect 60fps 1080p, removed the fog, and has actually awesome gyro controls. Also surprisingly long

He was only trying to go home.

All three Turok games are awesome the fuck are you on about?

Not him but Turok 1 is no clunky in any sense of the word. The movement and combat are fast and fluid, game runs well, animations are very well done, and all of its mechanics are simple but effective.

Yes. 1, 2, and Rage Wars are great. 3 and 2008 are garbage. Evolution is okay.

Why is 3 bad. I played it about a year ago and it was great. It just tried something a little different.

It's more linear, it focuses too much on a shit story, the guns are cheap knockoffs of 2's, the enemies are lame and barely react to being shot, and music sucks. The multiplayer is pretty good but that's it.

biggest problem is removing the fog makes certain parts of the game trivial as fuck. I don't think the game was upgraded much on terms of how it plays, so the argo range of mobs wasn't changed as well... in a lot of instances you can just sniper mobs safely and they just stand there.

1: Best pace but poor variation
2: Best variety but very slow
3: Poor level design, no atmosphere, different team developing

It's such an easy thing to change that I suspect that raising the agro range didn't work with how the levels were designed. With respawning enemies and how tightly knit the levels are you would've been swarmed at all times

Attached: SG-BOS~1.png (800x600, 213K)

honestly I was looking for an decrase draw distance setting when weighing buying it.
Doesn't feel right seeing so far.
The claustrophobia was integral to original.

It doesnt have it. Might still buy though

Thank you

While i do love Turok 2 for many reasons
Level Design is not one of them,Turok 2 has some of the most contrived and stupid levels ive seen in a videogame up to date

>It's more linear
I guess but it's DOOM/Half Life linear where you're still exploring and key hunting
>it focuses too much on a shit story
true
>the guns are cheap knockoffs of 2's
They could be more interesting, and rehashing the Bore was stupid but they're still good
>the enemies are lame and barely react to being shot
Yeah they kinda dumped all their cart space into the textures so other shit needed to be dumbed down.

It's easily the weakest of the trilogy but it's still a fucking awesome game

Attached: sobek 2019-03-22 12-33-58-86.png (1920x1080, 2.28M)

I played the turok 1 and turok 2 at release on pc way back in the day, but I've been wanting to play the later games as well. Maybe sometime

It's one of the earliest exploration based fps games ever. I mean it came out before Half Life did. That considered I think it did fucking awesome. Especially with the cart sizes

TUROK 3 REMASTERED WHEN

turok 3 feels like left 4 dead

Attached: eaumy2.jpg (574x372, 93K)

Fucking what?

Oh shit, I didn't know it had gyro controls. Gonna definitely pick that up now, thanks, user.

HL has almost no exploration, I don't get the comparison.

oh no wait is that PC or switch

all the levels and layouts from left 4 dead 1 look like they are ripped straight from this game which in turn picks up ideas from half life 1

This game has absolutely nothing in common with Metroid Prime. And how old are you? I played this shit on the N64 when I was like 7.

Both.

Attached: 1.jpg (1280x720, 321K)

Waiting for Turok 2 on Switch instead, the draw distance in 1 is still bad

>the draw distance in 1 is still bad
No it isn't.

>heavy emphasis on exploration and platforming
>finding new abilities to progress to new areas
>returning to old areas with new abilities to further progression

Definitely has similarities, user

What are the odds of NightDive making Turok 4?

Attached: Jerma.jpg (768x1024, 68K)

When's 2 coming out?

Attached: 77790D10-1B35-4007-9B98-6E92CBA88B34.png (624x463, 199K)

>the spiritual predecessor to Metroid Prime.
Is this the power of onions or are you just pretending to be retarded?

It is. I was about to pick it up but looked gameplay on youtube and it's awful

No. It just follows classic FPS structure of finding keys to progress. Dumb child.

If you were 7 when you played it, I'm at least six years older than you. Embarrassing.

You can edit the gyro sensitivity in the control options. It's pretty low on default

They said on their discord that Turok 2 is set for a fall or holiday release

You don't return to previous levels in Doom with new character abilities to progress in Doom, dumbass.

Nice, on both counts

niiiiiice. Will cop then for sure

Iguana/Acclaim became Retro Studios

Attached: benis.jpg (1280x720, 35K)

For those that want to get into the series
>Turok 1 is Quake meets Super Mario 64.
>Turok 2 is Goldeneye meets Ocarina of Time.
>Turok 3 is a Half Life knockoff.
>Turok Rage Wars is a Quake 3/Unreal Tournament knockoff
>Turok Evolution is a contender for the most broken game ever made (don't play this one, it's shit)
>Turok 2008 is just a soulless generic military dudebro shooter, which were common in the late 2000s. It has nothing to do with Turok other than the title and the fact that it has dinosaurs in it.

I hope that was clear enough

I mean I have like 3k hours across l4d1 and 2(also has l4d1's maps).
And I'm skipping through walkthroughs of turok 3 on youtube right now, and I can see two dozen setpieces that are 90% the same layout as in left 4 dead

>most were direct upgrades
Only the pistol (assault rifle) and regular shotgun (auto-shotgun).

>Turok Rage Wars is a Quake 3/Unreal Tournament knockoff
Rage Wars came out before both of them.

That's not Powerslave.

Correct. Back then, it was criticized for the heavy focus on multiplayer, since it really just felt like the deathmatch portion of a full release sliced off to be sold separately.

Powerslave and Turok have a lot in common. I hope Powerslave EX gets a wide release just like Turok Remastered did. And shame that the original PC version of Powerslave is so garbage compared to the Saturn version.

It was short on game modes, that's true. 3 had some pretty cool game modes that I wish they came up with for RW. I guess to make up for that it had a lot of characters to play as, including the unique Raptor and Mantid Mites, as well as a fuck ton of maps.

no, thank you for the last shimmer of gainax light that was episode 18.

Exhumed Saturn was good I remember trying to get all the dolls

This game had fucking amazing music. Especially that final level. They don't make atmospheric games like that at all anymore.

Turok 2 is a great game with terrible level design.

Cool fucking guns, though

Probably wouldn't happen until after SS1 remake is done. And I'm not sure they'd think it was worth it. I think it'd be pretty cool to see Turok get a reboot though, one that isn't a joyless slog like '08.

Retro was founded by members of Iguana.

I never played 08, but I feel like I'm pretty alone in having enjoyed Evolution. Evolution was just such a wildly dumb game that I couldn't help but like it.

The first two stages were fantastic, especially the River of Souls. It might have felt like it dragged on forever but there was enough varitey in scenery.
Stage 3 was extremely linear and short
Stages 4, 5 and 6 were hallway simulators with different backdrops.
I think the budget ran out 30% into the game.

>Turok 2 is a mix of two games with great level design
No. Turok 2 can't really be expressed in this way because it's so weird and unique. No other game has the same combination of incredible weaponry, amazing animations, graphics that were way ahead of their time, and level design so awful that it almost ruins every positive quality the game has.

>threads about turok after all these years
God bless the people who remade this game and made it available to a wider audience

Attached: feelsgood.gif (300x303, 1.49M)

Evolution made a lot of missteps but it also fixed a lot of 3's problems. Animations, gore, guns, and locations were all improved coming from 3. However it's centered on this boring 'war' theme between some humans unrelated to what we've seen in the first three games and the Sleg. The Sleg would be cool for a single level in Turok 2 but the whole game? Eh. Oh, and flying missions. Fuck those.

I've seen people say they like Evolution before. I never played it myself. I did play the demo for 08 that was on the 360 and it was completely awful.

I miss Turok Yea Forumsros...

played the turok 2 demo back in the day, I cant seem to see what the complaints about bad level design are
are you brainlet consolefriends?
it just HAS level design unlike turok 1 with open areas and straight lines for you to move on

Oh for sure, the setting and story are bland as beige in Evolution. And those flying levels blow. But there's something so satisfying about gibbing an enemy with a charged up melee hit that puts a big ol smile on my face.

Evolution definitely isn't good, but it's right in the middle of the pack for Turok as a franchise. I had a lot of fun playing it, so if you go in with tempered expectations, you'll probably get a good time out of it, too.

Is there anyone who actually played Turok 2? I'm pretty sure everyone just bewareoblivionisathand'd around in the levels. I for one can't even complete the first fucking level without cheats.

Played both remasters to relive the nostalgia. The first game is okay but its clearly showed its age, the second however is still pretty damn good.

>Someone uplaoded the Violent Killer 2 OST years ago but took them down, and no one else has put it up ever since
What a shame, thank god I got download before VGOST forum made it impossible to get it again.

Man that Jungle City track takes me back.

Can't handle a little exploring, zoomer?

Large, spread out levels with a focus on exploration and backtracking were the norm back in the day. Turok 2 just went a little overboard with it, nothing overtly complicated.

Attached: turok2map.jpg (1000x1483, 178K)

those drums oh those drums and such a cool and bizarre world.

From release til a few years ago, I could only beat the first three levels. Lair of the Blind Ones was my roadblock. When the remaster came out I finally managed to fully complete the game.

Turok 2 is easier than 1 because there's health and ammo respawns. There's broken weapons like the Charge dart rifle and scorpion launcher.
I don't know if you can in the PC remaster but on the N64 version you could clip through a cage in stage 3 for a early scorpion launcher. With ammo respawn you can just rocket every enemy to death.

youtube.com/watch?v=iHaOlmKX_o8

Its what the PC version should have had in the beginning.

>Perfect 60fps

I don't know what version you were playing but the FPS is all over the place. It's really bad in the last 3 levels especially.

I played these games when they came out you retard. The level design was bad then and it's bad now. This isn't like Doom or Quake where the level design is maze-like but really good at creating a sense of flow and guiding you through the level, Turok 2 levels are just big boring mazes with endlessly repeating textures and respawning enemies.

Mazes for their own sake are not interesting. It's just a way to pad out the length of the game, which may have been necessary then but certainly isn't now.

OUT OF THE WAY, DINOSAUR FUCKING SHITS

I AM TUROK

>graphics went up
>enemy count had to go down
>enemy health went up to compensate
That and Turo2 was more focused on exploration and environmental puzzles anyway. I don't hate it, but it's clearly a different beast.

The Primagen is a symbiotic lifeform comprised of a multitude of various organisms all functioning to support the life of each other and that's how he rapidly regenerates them after they're blown off. This is because the Primagen is one of the first beings to exist in this universe and that is simply because he destroyed the original universe using the unified universal energy weapon in his lightship that literally caused the Big Bang.

You wanna know why the Primagen destroyed the original universe?
It's because the demon god OBLIVION was devouring all life from within their own bodies so the only way to endure its constant attacks was to become a cluster of lifeforms that can rapidly regenerate the lifeforms in the Primagen that being devoured by OBLIVION. Turok 3 has you taking on OBLIVION in his still-weakened state.

is there a retext/remaster for the pc version?

>Turok 2 is easier than 1 because there's health and ammo respawns.
Eh? There is respawns in 1 too, maybe the remaster put it in, but its there and it made it easier too.

I had no issues with framerate in either remaster.

I. AM TUROK.

I think he's talking about the switch version.

Kinda depressed that this is the first piece of Adon fanart I've seen in 20 years.

sounds like Doom 2

Uh, you're full of shit.
t. someone who's read all novels, comics and the online novel.

You wanna know why the Primagen was "trapped in a prison of his own making"?
because OBLIVION can re-emerge from any being that still existed from the previous universe so the Primagen had to seal himself off to prevent the new universe from being devoured

I had a blast replaying the first game last year. Wish there was another game with the same style.

Attached: 1522798139591.png (600x600, 285K)

Pretty apt comparison yeah, but Turok 2's level design is even worse than Doom 2's.

>He can't handle levels larger than Doom's and Quake's (as large as whole episodes from those games, actually)
Then you complain about the handholding and casualization of modern games. Retards like you are responsible for the problem in the first place.

Attached: 1479654462045.png (200x200, 64K)

evolution was the best one

I didn't read those so I filled in the gaps(HUGE PLOTHOLES) with my own reasoning.

I like my headcanon and I dare you to provide a better (canon) version than mine, BITCH.

I never played the remaster. The final level in Turok 1 was impossible because of respawning cyborgs that were immune to normal shotgun shells. The minigun and grenade launcher are your bread and butter but ammo drops were limited.

>Someone uplaoded the Violent Killer 2 OST years ago but took them down
Didn't took it down, the whole channel was killed due to copyright strikes
I am that guy who owned the channel.

Attached: 1468821690211.gif (500x281, 947K)

One of the few problems I had with Turok is that going off the beaten path rewards you with SHIT. Like you might wander a minute and a half thataway over tight jumping platform sections and those CUNT red laser guys and be rewarded with a box of shotgun shells. Or maybe a 25 health. That's fucking it. This shit happened way too often in levels for my liking. Just made me pissed off as I travelled back to the starting point where I branched off.

Other than that my only real complaint is that they throw you new weapons towards the end and then get super fucking stingy with ammo. I barely had or found any grenade or pulse ammo in the last few levels and that's like 4 guns alone.

Primagen did nothing wrong.

Dammit. Thanks for introducing the OST to me, while I love the N64 version VK2 OST is beautiful.

You're welcome.
Now go support me on patreon.

turok, quake and unreal bueno!

>One of the few problems I had with Turok is that going off the beaten path rewards you with SHIT
don't forget enemies respawn

I dont agree with you on anything except that they tried to pad the levels and increase how much you CAN spend on each level artificially but only because of placement of health and ammo

I feel you. Adon is prime fap material and yet there's barely anything of her. Here's everything I've got.

Turok is fucking shit. All parts. First person platforming, blur o vision, infinitely respawning enemies, just the whole thing.

But I understand, it's old so it makes your gamerclitty big.

the game is fun to play and feels like a

game

Turok is good, but this game plays and feels nothing like Metroid Prime

the only similarity is the hunt for keys

Pretty much. Metroid Prime aged very well especially if you like to do sequence breaks but I don't imagine myself playing through Turoks again.

Turok has aged just as well, being a game of pure gameplay and no bullshit. Turok does one thing and it does it well: running and gunning.

Turok 1 music is my jam, nothing like some fast paced tribal music to put you in a fast mood. Lost Land was my favorite song:

I think it's creepier that you were trying to take screenshots of a sleeping woman in a videogame.

being a native american warrior armed with ridiculous weapons and blowing up dinosaurs, cyborgs, giant insects, undead and aliens is an experience you don't see very often, especially in games today. i think turok will have at least some appeal forever

did you play Turok 2, which had like twice as many guns

>you get the auto shotgun before you get the regular shotgun
what were they thinking

I'm playing through Turok 2 right now and all I can think of is how can Bethesda still be in business when this N64 game from 1998 had godlike enemy animations like that

Most bullshit thing about the Turok 1 remaster is that they got rid of the GAME OVER screen when you beat the game. That shit was so funny to me for some reason.

>This thread is still up
Based Turok bros.

Reminder that NightDives is making the System Shock remake, so they're capable of developing full games

REMINDER THAT IF YOU SUPPORT THESE REMASTERS THEN THEY'LL BE FORCED TO FINALLY GIVE US TUROK 4

Attached: Turok.png (1024x768, 813K)

Eh I don't think they care about Turok enough to make a fourth one. Turok fanbase isn't even that big.

>I don't think they care about Turok enough to make a fourth one
Says who?

Is this option available on switch?

I guess there's also Prey '06, pity it's not very good. I wonder why we don't see native american stuff in games more often, it's prime virtue signalling material but at the same time it could actually give an interesting flavor since the culture doesn't really get used that often in games.

25 dollars are youfucking kidding me

Yep

There's an option to change that in the remaster. They replace the auto-shotgun with a normal one and you don't run into the auto shotgun until like 2 levels later.

turok on N64 could be equated to metroid prime on GCN, but turok on PC just makes metroid prime feel clunky

Because having a native american do literally anything will get you called racist.

Well, it's a secret so that's fair.

Hell, Bethesda at least makes somewhat unique games which justifies their jankiness. Look at how much worse Bioware's animations are than Turok 2's despite having millions more dollars to work with and hundreds more people on staff. It's shameful.

see

They talk about Turok a lot more on twitter than any of the other games they release, other than System Shock. Like you don't see em referencing IHNMAIMS all the time or Titanic Adventure out of Time, instead it's always either SHODAN this or I AM TUROK that.

I haven't really seen anyone calling Turok racist despite it getting a bunch of attention at the moment due to the Switch release. Maybe that's just cause it's old, but generally people seem pretty mellow about it.

>All Weapons Cheat
>Unlimited Ammo Cheat
>Play Game with only those cheats.

Any other cheat aside from those (barring goofy cheats) and you're a bigger casual than I am.

I think a big part of it is that even though he's native, there's not really a ton of native american culture in the game. There's just nothing to really get upset about, even the main character only says 3 words.

I mean in Turok 2 you've got the ghost of a native american chief mumbling at you while granting you magical abilities.

My mother still jokes to me about Disco Mode to this day, she found it so funny when we were playing the game on the N64.

That weapon is so satisfying to use.

I played Iceborn I think it was. The Blue Fireborn dinosaur. Or I think I did. I can't remember if I was able to because of the 100% bug and didn't have enough medals to unlock.

God, going back to Turok 1 on switch felt really good. The gyro made it fun, but it's just as playable without. Don't remember it being this fucking hard though, I think if I went back I probably spent most time playing 1 as a kid with the cheats on. I remember enjoying freezing enemies with the cryo gun or whatever it's called.
I had the extended draw distance on for a bit but went back to what it was before. It didn't feel right being able to see more than a few feet in front of me.

Come on guys, really? It's a fucking fantastic game, I just beat it again a year ago. My little brother got it for GC for his birthday and my mind was so blown away that I literally went on a three hour long rant about how video game graphics had peaked and how it was physically impossible for games to look better than this. In my opinion It's the best in the whe series, followed closely by Seeds of Evil. The campaign is tough as nails too, and it whooped my ass! The multiplayer is some of the most fun I've had in vidya, and the apider drone and dark matter cubes are amazing. Back in the day I thought the particle effects for the cube were particularly stunning. Why do you guys hate such a good game?

Attached: 1551753067960.jpg (468x431, 17K)

Dark Matter cube was the best weapon in the series besides the Cerebral Bore IMO.

Compared to the N64 original, the difficulty was rebalanced, to account for the game's much higher framerate, longer draw distance and superior controls (it's balanced for m/kb controls). Enemies are more aggressive, move, react and attack faster, and are more accurate to account for the player's advantages when playing these remasters in comparison to the original.

Isnt Turok just a linear FPS how is it like Metroid

Well, shit, I didn't know that. It's mainly the blowpipe guys, the tough dudes with the red plasma guns, and the guys that summon fire that are giving me the most trouble right now.

Not 1 but 2 has some similarities to Metroid, in that you acquire powerups throughout the game that allow access to areas in prior levels you couldn't get to.

Cunty white SJWs and dumb blacks are the only ones who would get upset at Turok. No native americans that I know hate Turok. Literally how could you hate a time travelling, tribal and space weapon proficient, dinosaur and alien hunting, badass native american?

The Cerebral Bore is arguably the most gruesome fictional weapon ever invented. It's funny that merely pointing it at an enemy will make it stop whatever it's doing and flee in terror. The bores seek "brain waves", which mean that the weapon is useless against enemies that don't have brains (robots and undead), and those that don't generate much waves, like critters and amusingly, Purr-lins (those big gorillas in Death Marshes). They're so dumb that the cerebral bore literally doesn't work against them. I found this hilarious.

Raptor, naturally.

Attached: 1528372133233.png (528x400, 298K)

Isn't there an option to turn the fog back on? I don't miss it, personally.

>They're so dumb that the cerebral bore literally doesn't work against them.
I never went back and tried. That is funny.

Yes. I would never enable it myself but it's nice that the option is there.

Admit it. We all used the inflation weapon on Adon and fapped.

I did...

Nah, inflation isn't my thing. But I have, on many occasions back in the back, replayed the Turok 2 intro and fapped to Adon.

The levels were too stupid. I just got stuck constantly. So yes, I used the cheat code to just play the levels with all guns enabled.

I also beat it yesterday, fun game but hard as fuck

Campaigner and trex suck as bosses

How's the Switch port? I played the shit out of this game as a kid, and the cheat codes were cool to mess around with.

It's good. 60fps docked & handheld. Also the fog is less, but there is an option to bring the fog back with extra draw distance.

Tal’Set > Joshua Fireseed
Change my mind

I can't, it's just the truth. Joshua is still awesome, though.

Cool, I'll get it soon.

What if I want fog without extra draw distance? Can you make it identical to the original in that regard?

Is Doomguy related to Tal'Set? Cousins maybe?

Turok 3 PC remaster when? Turok 2 turned into one of the best shooters I've ever played with the new silky smooth framerate.

Turok was made by iguana which is retro in anything but name, until iguana team left started leaving retro and retro became a mix of naughty dog, bioware and vigil

are you the same guy who posts this shit in every thread that's even remotely related to metroid prime? give it a break

>the spiritual predecessor to Metroid Prime.
jesus fucking christ i hate nu/v/

that's a completely valid statement

They are not in any way similar. Metroid Prime is just System Shock for little kids, right down to even the aesthetics.

I did my part and got it on switch. I hope it sells well. It's fucking perfect for the system.

I can't wait for Seeds of Evil.

you're arn't you, spewing the same shit in every thread. why does metroid prime trigger you so hard? Turok has the same leads working on it as metroid prime and has the same exploration focus

>Metroid Prime is just System Shock for little kids
What the fuck am I reading?

>It had too many fucking guns
I hope you're trolling

The way Tal'Set says "I AM TUROK" is just cooler than Fireseed's take on the line. I've had that silly soundclip stuck in my head for years, but Fireseed's version of the line was totally forgettable.

>I did my part and got it on switch
Oh, so that's what this is. Nintendies just paid out the ass to play a FPS that runs on a toaster, with the worst controls imaginable no less.

it's the same butthurt 2D metroid/343i halo fag getting triggered by every mention of metroid prime for the last 2-3 years. You can find him in halo threads shilling for 343 as well as bringing up metroid V in every prime 4 thread because his threads die

Shut up, retard. Turok is Quake with dinosaurs and shitty level design.

yikes
I like how nintendies have to imagine a backstory for everyone that disagrees with them. They must view the world with some sort of childlike wonder.

Just ignore him.

What was your favorite gun in each game?

cerebral bore

Pulse Rifle
Mag60
Grenade Launcher (Rage Wars)

Pulse for DH
CHARGE Dart for 2
AR/Shotgun for 3
Shotgun for Evo

Stay mad bro. I'll be enjoying my games while you SEETHE.

Well, I know I've won. I'm out.

Glad to see more people are starting to realize the Prime games were mediocre at best, only propped up by nostalgia glasses, while Turok 1 and 2 are still amazingly good to this day.

the nuke, of course

Attached: gigachad[1].jpg (1068x601, 65K)

Both are great games. Is that a problem to like both?

Auto Shotgun
Razor Wind (That shit was awesome)
Boomerang

Never played 3.

Really, the lamest final weapon in the good games? I mean, it's just the Particle Accelerator from 1.

Attached: 502398530.png (960x540, 914K)

dunno, always liked the post damage effects of the nuke

It's the only Turok I played but I loved it. On PS2
The enemies losing limbs, the variety in weaponry, the secret ways of getting shit before you "should", Alt firing the weapons (especially that nutty rocket launcher spec)
my single complaint is those pterodactyl sections, not the absolute worst thing in vidya but it hurt.

did you guys liked Forzaken 64? i played again the PC version and was fun as fuck

DH - Pulse
2 - Razor Wind
RG - Flare
Gray Cart and EU version doesn't have the glitch

im about to play it, pc or n64 music version?

I was 20 when Turok came out. I enjoyed it a lot but the PC version recently on steam blew me away.

My version would always glitch out in the exploding hallway level...a door opened i couldn't walk through every time...I guess I coulda been doing something wrong but had to cheat to see rest of game....it's actually pretty long.

It's fucking great but I wouldnt equate a hubworld to being a metroidlike

that's how games used to work zoomer, weapons and items would get progressively better instead of completely random placement or generic two gun loadouts.

turok 1 has great level design perfect for the faster pace of the game and theres hidden secrets everywhere. It plays much more like doom where turok 2 is like a halflife wannabe.

>a turok thread
thank you guys, one of my favorite games gets attention.

>i wish they remaster time splitters 2
I hope soon

These games were legitimately too difficult for me as an experienced video game playing 14-15 year old or whatever age I was at the time they came out. I don't know why but I mainly blame the massive levels and fog fucking with my memory. The fact that enemies respawned infinitely didn't help either.

the switch version is the PC version

>That's Turok 3.

I am the only person on Yea Forums that legitimately liked 2008 Turok. The multiplayer was baller back when it was alive

Attached: 1522644427593.jpg (349x416, 64K)

All I remember about 2008's multiplayer was everybody dancing around each other for insta-kill backstab takedowns.

Fuck off mate, if F76 didn't exist TE would still be the most broken game in existence.

Bought it on the BONE for $5, been meaning to play it.

I see literally no similarities between Turok and Metroid. They are completely different games, the only similarity is that they're both FPS games. Metroid is a puzzle / RPG elements / primitive FPS platformer / adventure game. Turok is just a straight up FPS game that you roam around each level killing enemies and picking up collectibles to go to the next level.

How could they improve Turok 3 if they announced a remaster?

Remake it completely.

I don't suppose NightDive could improve the models? That would probably be asking too much. I would like to see it run at a better framerate though.

Inside information here. It's not possible for them to do anything other than a few specific remasters due to some bullshit copyright limbo with the Turok license.

I prefer 1 but 2 was good too. 2 had some really nice world variety. Stop bitching about the level design because the remaster fixed up some of that.

It sounds like the terms only applied to Turok games that also received PC releases. Evolution could potentially get a remaster but I believe 3 and Rage Wars could not.

GUAGH!

>only just learned that Iguana was made up of current Retro employees
>now it all makes sense

Do you think Nintendo hired them because of their experience with open level design? Also now that I think about it Turok wasn't even on PS1 was it? They were already a Nintendo-focused company.

Originally released for N64 then got a PC port.

I remember reading somewhere that Nintendo chose Retro to do Metroid Prime because they had both prior experience with FPS games as well as a good relationship with Nintendo.

Just playing on hard this run, halfway through level 2 and God damn this is nice. The gyro and graphics options for switch were great additions. I may or may not have downloaded the pc remaster for free when it came out so I'm glad to have supported them now.

Retro was in shambles. They were thrown off everything to work on Metroid Prime because Miyamoto himself thought Turok was great and decided that the studio should play to their strengths. Metroid being the IP for an FPS is just a no-brainer.

I'll be kicking this guys ass in the next hour, I'm all out of gum.

Got that Adon solo in higher rez? Hot damn!

Different user here, but could you elaborate what was so broken about TE? All versions/ports were broken?

Is there any decent way to play Turok 3 with mouse and keyboard? I tried with 1964 that I use for Perfect Dark, but it can't read any input specifically in Turok 3.

I dunno. I remember most people being furious that Metroid was going to become an FPS instead of something more akin to Other M's visual design.

It wasn't until the game came out that people realized it was mostly true to the prior games.

Metroid Prime is the greatest Cinderella Story in videogame development history.

A crop works too. Thanks.

I blew it up a bit with this, too.
