I'm confused. So is Inner Mongolia China or Mongolia? Does China just release maps that says it's part of it or what? Do they actually control it, or is it like Taiwan where they just pretend they do?

It's an "autonomous" region of China.

What? "Inner Mongolia" is a portion of the historical territory known as Mongolia that is under the control of the PRC. It is inside China proper.

There is a "Manchukuo Independence movement" but it is very minor and has nowhere near the influence of the Tibetan or Xinjiang/Uighur movements

there's like 70 manchu speakers left, what remained of the manchu nationalist movement was mostly stamped out after the end of the civil war. Whatever latent nationalist parties exist are completely and totally irrelevant
