I like the XBOX 1 Controller but the concave stick sucks dick and switchting analog stick and d-pad position on the left is retarded.
>switchting analog stick and d-pad position on the left is retarded.
it's not though, it allows you to reach the dpad with your finger and not have to remove your thumb from either stick.
Oh, you want to go for a claw grip?
>pepe clown nose
hilarious
Three shoulder buttons like in the steam controller would be better. Especially for games where the right thumb would be on the ball
m+kb is the perfect design
prove ME wrong
Trackpad>>>Trackball
You're forgetting remove face buttons on the front and put them on the underside of the controller and leave everything else the same.
No analog movement
unnecessary because certain techniques can be adequate substitutes
PS4 sholder buttons are horrible.
that's why it's m+kb not just kb
This, xbone controller is better in basically every way
>Prove me wrong
Trackball on a handheld device is 100% retarded design. You might want to change posture on occasion, right? Flawless operation is not guaranteed anymore if you hold the controller the "wrong" way. It would probably also move on its own if you move your hands at all.
but the analong is in the wrong place
Eight directions is plenty, and it's far better to be precise in 8 than awkwardly using a stick.
If you want a track ball, fine. But don't pretend the Xbone controller isn't better than those shitty changes. Like what the fuck are you playing that requires a promary d-pad and a track ball?
OP what the fuck. The only thing I vehemently agree with you on is the d-pad placement. A trackball? Really nigga?
>mfw when a PC player calls an octagon strafe a "circle strafe"
nigga just get a steam controller
Based trackball poster
it literally is a circle, you moron. you walk sideways as you turn with your mouse, which produces a circle.
Imagine not knowing about mouselook in 2019.
I disagree. They are a huge upgrade from xbone's. The ones on the xbone are just horrible, want to hold R/2 and R/1 at the same time? It feels awkward as hell no matter how you hold it
pssh, step aside.
As with most things, if it doesnt already exist, it is overwhelmingly likely that it's a bad idea.
Claw grip is objectively superior. It allows you to use both sticks, the hat stick, and face buttons simultaneously while your middle fingers are on the bumpers and ringfingers on the triggers.
This leaves only the pinky finger without buttons to press and you need them to just hold the gamepad.
>want to hold R/2 and R/1 at the same time?
Literally never seen a game do this.
The LB/RB nomenclature will always be stupid. Why can't they just be L and R?
They're bumpers, bump bump
Every alteration here makes it worse. Add analog face buttons and make the bumpers feel closer to the PS4 and it's the perfect controller.
while clawgrip is nice and all
it isnt intuitive
its why things like the elite control exists
also idk if youre OP but ds4 triggers are inferior to xbox triggers imo
and a trackball is fucked
Why don't they put the d-pad on the back, then?
Play more games then. Racing games which use R2 and L2 as accelerator and brake often have other commands at L1 and R1. And if you're not pressing either the accelerator or the brakes you're doing it wrong. Coasting is generally bad unless you're trying to save fuel.
Also Ace Combat I guess. It has acceleration/airbrake and yaw on the triggers and bumpers respectively. And you're going to want to yaw while slowing down sometimes.
DMCV Dante if you're switching weapons mid combo you'll also need to control lockon. Other characters too if you change the default control scheme so it's easier to charge the guns while doing sword attacks.
No. Leave the Xbone controller how it is, add a C and Z button below A and B, add the paddles found on the elite controller. Then take the NFC, motion controls and HD rumble from the Switch pro controller and stick them inside it too. Finally top it off with 2 modernized VMU slots
Yes this would be like a $200 controller but it's truly perfect
Gyro controls should be standard in any game with any kind of aiming
Because L and R already exists you nigger.
Not OP, I also don't like the trackball. If you want precision use a real mouse. Would also agree that the Xbox-style meaty triggers are better than the mushy DS4 ones. They provide more resistance, making it easier to control exactly how much you want to press them.
With the elite controller I find it extremely awkward to press the buttons on the back with my pinky finger. But I understand that people would find claw equally awkward. You just get used to it eventually and then it's not an issue anymore.
i like you
i like the xbox triggers for that reason and the vibration feels satisfying when shooting
i use clawgrip when i play games on my ps4 and i always forget when i go back to my xbone and instinctively try to tap something with my index finger
I see I'm not the only person with a problem with the xbone triggers.
It's not that they work awfully. They work just right, have the right amount of resistance and they even have a hidden feature that works on some games, which is that they have some sort of built in force feedback motor thingie that some games like Forza Horizon 3 use. Kinda cool.
Problem is, I play a lot of classic games or platformers that barely ever require RT/LT. I'm used to the playstation layout where my middle finger just lays low behind the gamepad and rests there without stretching any fingers. With the xbone controller the lowest point at which I can place those fingers without feeling awkward and uncomfortable is around the triggers or on top of them. It just doesn't feel right being used to that setup.
Only PlayStation and Nintendo up to the GameCube had good names for the shoulder buttons.
THE LAST BOSS
Replace the dpad with this bad boy
You are wrong. This would be the best controller ever created, only the original being in the second place.
my problem with the steam controller is the face buttons feel more like beads. They're way too tiny. And the shoulder buttons require a stupid amount of force to actuate.
Also speaking of that rumble feature, some dude released this
Which enables that feature on games that do not support it. Pretty cool to have the fucking vibrating triggers on old racing games.
I'm sure we have room for two of those on the backside
No matter the controller, they all feel like they were designed to be held in a way where you only keep one finger on the each side's shoulder buttons. Many games require two fingers, but then holding them is uncomfortable.
that's called a phone you complete retard
>claw
>ever
crabman pls go away
add the ps4 memepad to the center and i'm sold
Q: what is that red thing on the right stick place?
good thinking. Now we have room for the official logo
What do the shoulder buttons do?
It gives you access to 8 extra buttons without letting go of the sticks, why would you hold the pad any other way?
reports people for saying the N word
one reason
I dont like pain
you are boring
That red circle pad is the ugliest fucking thing I’ve seen in my life. D-pad forever
so a playstation controller
playstation wins again
>not liking pain in 2011 + 8
Not enough for sports games.

- Take an Xbone Elite controller, and put it in a regular configuration
- Swap all inputs for analog-capable inputs (triggers and sticks are obvious, buttons are like Dualshock multipresses, D-pad inputs like Cherries)
- Allow analog stick stiffness to be physically adjusted, even on the fly, by rotating the stick in its socket
- Give it a combined battery system wherein it comes with a rechargeable battery pack that can be charged with a regular USB-C cable from any power source, even while playing, but can also be fitted with regular or replacement rechargeable batteries easily
- Add four additional buttons to the centre of the controller - move up the existing two buttons into a 2x6 formation
- Give all these buttons specific functions in games that are fairly consistent if relevant eg. map, inventory, and so on - allow them to be mapped fully
- Make Windows recognise these buttons as generic so they can be easily mapped to anything that recognises a controller
Nothing personell kid, but this is the king of controllers. Praise Gaben.
PlayStation controllers don't have trackballs
