Microsoft decides to bend his ass to the competition

>Microsoft decides to bend his ass to the competition.
Why Yea Forums does seem supportive about it? I find it quite disgusting to be frank
Is it because beta-males are the most of Yea Forums's population or am I missing something?

Attached: New_Project.png (600x1200, 525K)

you are really desperate to make this about yourself aren't ya?

Did you buy an xbone by any chance?

microsoft as a company doesn't do video ganes unique enough to justify getting an xbox over a playstation or even a nintendo, that being said they still made things that were enjoyable, so when they provide a compromise for a floundering branch of their company it's a win-win, microsoft can justify it's video game branch and people don't need to buy a superfluous console. long story short op is a faggot.

When a threat is great enough, you may have to rely on your enemies for help

Attached: january-2018-sales-1-2.png (640x555, 239K)

No and this is not about the Xbone only. It's about the company behaving in a disgusting way and the board here acting as if they were doing the right thing.

>Bends his ass
More like they saw an opportunity to make more money and they jumped on it.
>They know that window store is shit, and knew lots of people would love Halo on Steam so fuck it, they brought it to Steam too.
>They also don't have a mobile market, so they have no problem putting games on the Switch either.
MS already has some of their games on Steam already and they have been publishing games with on Nintendo handheld games since the GBA, so nothing they are doing is new.

>his

>win-win
How's it a win-win without the Xbone getting Nintendo titles per example?

Cuphead isn't even an Microsoft exclusive, its on steam.

So why is this on Steam instead of being exclusive to their own Windows store?

As someone that uses the Windows store, it can go fuck itself.

>mfw microsoft is going to end up like sega

Attached: 1551585519172.png (644x745, 229K)

>realized how to finally reinvigorate Halo via PC community
>realized how to finally make Rare/etc. sell again via Nintendo
>realized how nobody fucking uses IE anymore

And this is bad why again?

With Cuphead coming to the Switch, they're adding stuff to the Xbox like more sprites, playable Mughead in singleplayer, and faster loading time

It's on both

Microsoft is not a videogame company nor relies on the Xbox to make money, that thing is just a toy to impress retards with "wow! amazing specs!!!!" and make a quick buck

Leaked Windows 10 1909 screenshot

Attached: 1909.png (415x368, 21K)

more money because most people use steam and Microsoft has a poor track record with online stores

>All of Microsoft's games coming to PC on platforms other than the Windows Store

What a lovely future that would be

>Microsoft ever leaving the console business
Microsoft has more money than god, why would they ever leave?

What am I supposed to be seeing here?

Let me guess, you failed the reading section of the SAT.

Don't worry Xbonebros, we still have Scalebound!

Because it's pro consumer. If you aren't forced to buy their hardware and you have more choices then it's good for you. You braindead console warriors have dicks so far up your ass that you would rather see a company do well than yourself. You are talking about beta males but here you are, looking how you could support other men better with your own money on the line while they think about nothing but fucking you over.

...

>He actually bought a xbox instead of a switch

Sorry you're retarded OP

But you're still forced to buy their OS.

>implying I ever took the SAT
Who do you think you're talking to, kiddo?

You're new to computers, aren't you?

Attached: 1537649428298.jpg (355x438, 66K)

Fine, GRE. What matters is that you can't read.

>Company is giving people what they want
>How disgusting of them

Attached: 1506143837583.gif (200x200, 2M)

When you shill for a company long enough you start doing it for other companies unconsciously.

That's good for the consumer though, how retarded do you have to be i order to be angry at this?

>Fewer exclusives
>Coming from Microsoft
What upside down, turbo fucked timeline am I in?
I'm not complaining, fuck exclusives but what's actually going on here?

Attached: confused.jpg (342x360, 12K)

I don't get it, are upset because microsoft is losing?

I own every console and gaming PC, I don't fucking care about console war shit, thats for poor people. I'm sorry that you're poor.

M$ has never contributed anything positive to the video game industy of note outside of a few minor exclusives. They pioneered playing for online on consoles, pioneered turning consoles into things other than game-playing devices, and a whole host of other shitty practices. It's good that they're focusing less on making games and selling Xbox and more on making it so other people with better console platforms can take advantage of their services without being forced into their ecosystem.

>VGCHARTZ 2017
kill yourself already

>Bending their ass
>When they know that what they are doing is probably building goodwill among a lot of people into gaming and it's getting them more support and money in the long run

MIcrosoft knows that in the very near future, streaming will be the main form of video game entertaiment, they are preparing to be service providers and not console manufacturers

Attached: 1551981215703.png (617x453, 361K)

If it makes them money and is better for consumers then the other alternative options for them, why would you consider it bad?

so?

>MUH VGCHARTZ BAD

Because they didnt get that money wasting it on something that doesnt turn a large enough profit

>They pioneered playing for online on consoles
That was Sega
>pioneered turning consoles into things other than game-playing devices
That was Sony

How about lets talk about the good things MS has done to consoles
>Hard drives in consoles
>Custom soundtracks
>Best online service to this day
>Only console that offer free cloud saving and free updates when console is powered off.

Microsoft make money off the game as the publisher.

They barely make money on Xbox to begin with, its a side business.

i'm all for whatever gets microsoft out of the console market as soon as possible. the last thing we need is them doing any more damage to this hobby than they've already done.

>That was Sega
Sega invented Xbox Live?
>That was Sony
Sony shilled for using your Xbox as a cable-box during E3 2013?

>HDD in consoles
PS2
>Custom Soundtracks
You just played music over the game
>Best online service to this day
I mean they pioneered it so I would hope so, not comparable to Steam though
>Free cloud saving and free updates when console is powered off
Those are positive features?

The switch is way, way higher than xbone
Nice try Phil

This, if people think that this means "OH MY GOD, MICROSOFT IS PUTTING ALL THEIR GAMES ON STEAM AND SWITCH!" than these people are stupid.

>Sega invented Xbox Live?
Sega had its own online service
>Sony shilled for using your Xbox as a cable-box during E3 2013?
Sony marketed the PS2 as a cheaper DVD player

>HDD in consoles
>PS2
Xbox had one build in instead of having to buy an adapter
>Custom Soundtracks
>You just played music over the game
it was a cool feature that allowed you to have your own music for racing games and games like GTA

>I mean they pioneered it
Once again, Sega were the first to do console online, and even then the PS2 also had online, but it was nowhere as good as the original Xbox.
>Free cloud saving and free updates when console is powered off
>Those are positive features?
Yes when both Sony and Nintendo charges you for them

Because it's old and outsourced.

Honestly kys

Streaming is going to fail.

>paid online is going to fail
>lack of backwards compatibility is going to fail

>Why Yea Forums does seem supportive about it?
Nobody likes M$.
Getting them out of the industry is a net gain for everyone, even themselves.

>That was Sega
why do microsoft fans keep pushing this lie? just because you guys are too young to remember the dreamcast doesn't mean you can revise history.
the dreamcast had free online built in at launch. seganet was an optional isp that you could choose to subscribe to, but you weren't required to use it to play online. there's a big difference between that and microsoft forcing everyone to pay a subscription free to play online, regardless of who their isp was.
>That was Sony
the ps2 was a game system first. the dvd player was just an extra hook to get it into as many living rooms as possible. there's a reason why all the prerelease hype for the ps2 was centered around the emotion engine, not the dvd player.
the xbone, on the other hand, was literally marketed as a tv set-top box first and a console second.
>How about lets talk about the good things MS has done to consoles
you mean like inventing paid online, paid dlc, and microtransactions and running rare into the ground? gee, thanks, microsoft! custom soundtracks and cloud saves are incredibly minor compared to the damaging precedents they've set.

Go shill your failing Google console somewhere else.

exclusives are cancer

normalfags could talk themselves into accepting those. they'll never accept webm related.

Attached: future of gaming 2.webm (752x398, 1.49M)

gee i wonder who is behind this post

Normalfaggots don't even know about FPS let alone input delays. Normalfags pay for five different streaming services already.

>just because you guys are too young to remember the dreamcast doesn't mean you can revise history.
>Implying the dreamcast was the first Sega console to have internet access

Attached: 88d808c1f59413b8fbd552f696315635.jpg (800x600, 48K)

I'm not shilling anything. All consoles have been shit for years now. Worse and worse every gen, and no-disk streaming boxes are their final form.

Sega had their own online service on the dreamcast, on the Saturn and on them mother fucking GENESIS

it means you can disable entire features now for real, like cortana, the store etc without having to install ltsb. at least thats what i got out of this image.

To add more to this

>The Sega Net Work System was a network service in Japan for people using the Sega Mega Drive. Debuting in 1990, this service worked with the Game Toshokan (literally meaning "Game Library") cartridge to download games on the console (meaning that the game would have to be re-downloaded each time).[4] Players attached a Mega Modem (modem, with a speed of 1,600 to 2,400 bit/s) to the "EXT" DE-9 port on the back of the Mega Drive, and used it to dial up other players to play games. There was a monthly fee of ¥800.

>Sega then brought a similar online service to North America, the Sega Channel, debuted in December 1994. Sega Channel provided users the opportunity to download new games straight to their consoles with the purchase of a cartridge similar sold through General Instruments. The service cost $15 (USD) per month and at one point had over 250,000 American subscribers while also building a following overseas but Sega decided to halt the project and provide an online portal in their new console the Sega Saturn.

Attached: 1545288758253.jpg (900x900, 57K)

the net link service was also free. paying for the adapter once =/= paying a continuous subscription fee to use your own internet.

No, am upset about how instead of Microsoft finding a way to turn better or take the loss like a MAN, goes to take a shot in the ass by the competition and people here celebrates it.
Again, it must be the popular mentality of this board.

>retards who don't understand why M$ online was brought up is because they were the first ones to charge money for it

Regardless if its pay to use or not, it is still an online service

and? it's not online play in general that people are complaining about. it's microsoft gating it behind a subscription paywall.

That's true as this gen sucked ass but next gen is already looking better with Nintendo and the Switch and Microsoft and the Xbox Scarlett.

If even you wanna move goalpost, MMOs have been locking players behind paywalls long before the Xbox was even a thing.

A MMO is a single game run by a single company. Not an entire platform.

That makes it worse. At least with XBL, you're paying to play multiple games online where as MMOs charge more money just to play one game online.

>That makes it worse.
individual games being gated behind a subscription paywall is bad enough. EVERY multiplayer game being gated behind a subscription paywall is a scummy cash grab of the highest order.

on the contrary
most games in the first Xbox and even in the 360 used p2p multiplayer instead of dedicated servers
and when they did use dedicated servers, those were owned and maintained by the game publishers, not Microsoft

Meanwhile MMOs maintain their own servers and the fee they charge goes to both helping develop more content and keep the servers runing

Paying less for access to more games is nowhere as bad as paying more to have access to one game. Not to mention, you don't need XBL to play games, meanwhile you need pay a subscription to play the game.

What happened in October 2017?

Microsoft is fucking based desu. They're doing all the right things that I as a consumer would want from them. Their competitors e.g. Sony are the ones who seem to be going backwards. Sony didn't even want you to play with your friends in a game they didn't even own until they got publicly castrated. If I had to buy either an xbox 2 or ps5 I'd buy the xbox 2.

paying another subscription fee to use your own internet that you're already paying for is scummy, period. at least with mmos, they're just individual games and they don't affect the people who don't care about mmos.
what microsoft did was hold every multiplayer game hostage behind their paywall so nobody had a choice. it was undeniably one of the most anti-consumer moments in gaming. and now we're stuck with it because fucking idiots actually bought in and sony and nintendo hopped on the bandwagon.

Xbox One X

By that same logic, it doesn't affect anyone that doesn't care about multiplayer games.
Also there free alternative options like playing on PC or using Bing for free XBL. Its funny, MS was the one that popularized paying for online, but they are also the most lenient about it seeing that you can get XBL for like 1$ every other month and you can just using bing for free XBL

They are shifting their focus towards enterprise and overhauling windows for when ARM replaces x86 in most computers.

It's like the godless left cosying up to muslims.

Attached: RespectIsTaken.jpg (960x532, 141K)

They left mobile

Attached: xbox10.jpg (460x460, 41K)

you mean the GED? GRE is for graduate school

because even Microsoft knows no one uses the Windows store

Wu Zetian makes my dick tingle

>scummy
Do you know why Xbox live costed money in the first place? It was to help offset the high cost of manufacturing an Xbox due to it's complexity and specs that ran circles around PS2 and GCN.
Had the online been free people instead would be complaining about the console's price, see PS3 for an example of this happening.

Wait what games are on the Switch?

This has to be bait but it sounds too sincere. Who is getting shafted here? This seems like a net gain with no negatives

can you explain to a brainlet

>"I find it disgusting that a company is getting goodwill by trying to transform their brand into an interconnected infrastructure where games are more open to everyone"
Then just suck Sony's Californian cock, they're full of themselves to the point where they'd expect you to be grateful for telling every other console to fuck off with wanting to play together and only begrudgingly trying to hold up the illusion of seeing their fanbase as more than cattle filled with money.

mugface

MS should just take all their Xbox money next gen and fully invest into making PC gaming better

All of their audience on Xbox, why should they make a stupid decision like that?

Console exclusives are cancerous, Microsoft are pretty cool dudes

>paying real, actual currency for an OS.

Windows was what made microsoft profitable back in the 90's. What MS has done since win95, is basically duck tape new stuff to and repaint windows since then. Its why you can still run XP era shit on win10.
Problem is, technology has evolved since the 90's and windows more or less has not. They have to do a complete overhaul of windows soon/now or it will be obsolete (hence why win10 is the "last version" of windows).
Microsoft also has their Azure cloud services and enterprise software, which does not suffer the same problems as windows and makes much more money than it.
TL;DR they using the Azure/enterprise profits to rebuild windows for the modern age. They cannot afford to waste money and fuck over consumers while one of their cash cows is out of commission right now.

Sega was a video game company first so they had to become a dev/publisher to survive. If vidya becomes too unprofitable MS will just sell off their IPs and stop making games altogether
