Because the price is stable as it is. If enough people were to stop buying games at their current price, publishers would lower the prices until sales went up. Unfortunately, there are too many retards who pre-order games and pay the high prices because they want it regardless of actual quality, so even if we all boycotted new releases the practice would continue.

Costs have gone up massively due to the increase in tech and the need to stay on the edge of things for many AAA titles, as such devs and publishers tack on as many things as they can to squeeze a bit more money so they can continue funding their stuff.
Of these costs potentially the biggest is Advertising, which is where the turbo-jews are. Nothing can get good sells without advertising, and as such advertisers demand tons of money for really, really simple stuff. Furthermore, due to the nature of advertising, they can completely deny any problems associated with them while simultaneously taking credit for the good things that happen.
Game didn't sell well? You didn't advertise enough. Pay us more next time or it'll happen again.
