Even if you want to use ranged, use brawl/melee until Hollywood since the guns are absolute dogshit until then. Highly recommend brawl since it lets you combat feed/heal easier off enemies, and if you get good at the directional combat, you can juggle humanoid targets around like Marvel all day, rarely into instant-kill spots if you're a cheeky cunt.
