get the overwatch mod for 3. it resets unroutable sims and turns off tvs and steros at 3am each morning. i think it cleans out other sims inventories too. can't remember the specifics.

4 is actually a lot better now than it was at launch. Though it's still missing a lot of stuff.

My biggest turnoff is that every sim acts the same. Because of the emotion system. You could make 8 sims in a house all with different traits, but they'll all still have that shit eating grin on their face.

i haven't played 4 but from what i've gathered it leaves out a lot of stuff that you could in previous titles have with the base game and put them in exspanstion packs.
also to stay on topic: i think sims 2 is overall the best that i've played. i like 3's open world but it took away some grind that i feel is necessary. specifically managing friends. it's too simple and frankly makes needing to interact with other sims pointless from a game perspective. you can just choose the "fuck off with co-workers" option when the sim goes to work.

I come back to it occasionally and have fun with it whenever a new expansion comes out but I never stick to it for long
ot just seems like there isn't any point in pursuing any career or skill or collecting items, every bonus in the game just boils down to "get moodlet X for Y hours"
it's like they based the whole game around the new mood system but it just isn't worth it if you have 1000 more convenient ways to get a particular mood
the only thing I really enjoyed was the science career because it gave a lot of cool devices and gadgets to play with

i just got it a week or so ago. i have sims 3 1.67 and the mod page says it works with 1.69 which afaik is the latest version.
