This piece of shit held back an entire generation

>Wii had motion controls, Wiiu and Switch have motion and touchscreen
>PS3 had rudimentary motion controls on release and proper ones slightly later, PS4 has motion and touchpad
>PC had motion controls since time immemorial with the mouse, plus support for multiple motion+touchpad controllers
>Xbox 360 had nothing and Xbone has nothing as well
Catering to the lowest common denominator every single multiplat, including potential ones, had to be dumbed down to accomodate for literally retarded Xbox stuck two gens behind with no direct controls, and even hard exclusives often refused to break status quo. I can understand why X360 had nothing, tech was unproven and they tried and failed to make Kinect work later on, but X1 has no excuse.
Fun fact, DS4's lightbar is actually for tracking with the camera, same as glowing balls on PSMove and lines on PSVR. It doesn't explain why it's always on but it explains why it is there.

Motion controls were a shitty fad that died with the Wii that thing nearly ruined gaming so good riddance

Fpbp

Gyro is the only acceptable way of aiming on consoles.

Fuck off, stick aiming sucks donkey balls and always did. For once we could come a step closer to PCbros and Xbox fucking blew it.

>imagine giving a shit about motion controls

no but the sticks are asymmetrical dont you understand! the sticks user! the sticks!

just play on pc you ya dingus

FPBP

thread is over, move on.

Motion controls are superior to right stick aiming.
Even PC fags who swear by their dirty, sweat-covered mice and keyboards got into the motion aiming with the Steam controller.

It's a solid controller with no gimmicks or major flaws, my favorite aspect of it is that you can put AA batteries in it instead of being forced to use some shitty proprietary battery that dies in 2 hours.

>resetera trannie shilling sony once again

dude, get a grip, kill yourself
you will never be a woman

PC almost exclusively uses the xbox controllers.

>imagine giving a shit about analog sticks

PC almost exclusively uses mouse you moron, they only use controllers for stuff like racing games and retro platformers.

Any non-retard has a gamepad and it's almost always going to be a xbox controller or just what they used before ditching consoles, only faux-elitist retards who think it's cool to have narrow tastes think kb+m is better for everything.
I used to use my PS2 controllers but they died so I got an xbone controller.

>Valve said most are console gamepads that people have connected to their PCs;45 percentare Xbox 360 controllers,20 percentare PlayStation 4 controllers,19 percentare Xbox One controllers,7 percentare PlayStation 3 controllers and the remaining8 percentfall under the "Other" category.

Funny how the people who defend motion controls so much are often the same kind of people who shat on the wii for it

PC has about 3,5 recent exclusives that actually make use of superior input method it has. Most of the new games on it are multiplats, and sticking proper controls into a game balanced around stickfags make them either trivial or, if they have difficulty settings, at best turn into slow grindy bullet sponge fests.

The only feature on the DS4 that has a decent purpose ironically enough is that it gets extra buttons. That's it. Extra buttons. A mouse is still better at aiming and motion controls only exist for people who are gimped by console gaming. The touchpad is worse than anything you could find on decade old laptops. The lightbar is an absolutely worthless gimmick. All of that shit comes at the cost of the shittiest battery life.

I'll keep my normal controls.

Yes, because it is enough with the current state of gaming. You don't need anything fancier than a 20-year old Dualshock because the games are made for a console that essentially uses one itself.

fpbp

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t the consensus on Yea Forums regarding the Kinect overwhelmingly negative?

motion controls are a gimmick.

The general consensus is motion controls suck overall, which they fucking do. They are a fun gimmick at first but nothing comparable to things that are more stable and accurate. Also there were always concerns about having a thing recording you while you play videogames but I guess OP doesn't care because he probably hasn't reached his twenties.

The "next step" of PC gaming will be VR, I don't doubt controller waggle will be standard eventually but it will be hardly a revolution.

>motion controls and touchpad comes at the cost of battery life
>Steam Controller lasts 80 hours on 2 AAs

Then that tells you something about how awful Sony is, don't you think?

Sure, but the shit battery life is likely not down to the touchpad and gyro.
Has anyone ever checked how long the thing lasts with the lightbar turned off?

The PS4 has pathetic battery life because of the gigantor light and shitty built-in battery with only 1000 mAh while a pair of Eneloops have 4000.

Motion controls fucking suck and the ps4 touchpads constantly break and stop working for no reason. As someone who owns a ps4 it would be 1000x better if they just let the motion control meme die

I did in fact, and there's not enough of a difference to bother. Not even decreasing the polling rate.

Speaking of batteries, is the charging kit for the xbone good enough or would it be worth more to actually grab rechargeable batteries?

The next step of gaming in general is going to be VR, Sony is knee deep in that already and even Nintendo tries to make it work nowadays. Hilariously enough, nothing seems to indicate Xbox doing it anytime soon.

I have two pairs of eneloops so when they die I can just swap them out and let them recharge, no need to stay tethered while it's recharging and the battery life is far better, it lasts about 24h of usage.

Do any PS4 games even use gyro aiming?

Gravity Rush

Tbf if they improved the batteries the prices would go even higher, and they would just get shit on because of this

But yeah, I wish they would release a more premium version of the controller (but continue to sell the originals) because ps4 batteries are annoying as fuck, and my controller seems to spend more time plugged in and charging than unplugged. At this point they might as well just make the ps5 controllers wired if they aren't going to give them decent batteries

Xbone charging kits are good, way better than ps4 batteries. I got one because my xbone controller was burning through batteries like a motherfucker, but with the charging kit the controller lasts a few days before it needs charging. Only problem is they cost $20

>Wii had motion controls, Wiiu and Switch have motion and touchscreen
GAY
>PS3 had rudimentary motion controls on release and proper ones slightly later, PS4 has motion and touchpad
GAY USELESS and also, nice triggers LOL
>PC had motion controls since time immemorial with the mouse, plus support for multiple motion+touchpad controllers
MASTER RACE
>Xbox 360 had nothing and Xbone has nothing as well
Nothing but aesthetics, comparability with pc and even android right off the box. I can even use my 360 controller with a ps3 and ergonomic as fuck.

I seriously cannot comprehend anyone who bashes on these controllers. Yeah the dpad kinda sucked and honestly couldn't give 3 fucks about that either. The fact I can just plug and play from my consoles to pc without doing anything else and is comfy af is a win in my book. No matter what other gimmicky shit they try to come up with, the xbox controllers are always pretty solid. All of them.

fpwp

rocks are also solid, grug

At least with this rock I'm not accidentally touching the triggers all the time. My hands aren't even that big. I can only imagine the girly manlets DS4 was developed for.

>I seriously cannot comprehend anyone who bashes on these controllers
I've noticed its always system wars fags who bash them. When I've just spent hours finding a good torrent, modding, then testing the mods the last thing I want to do is install a bunch of drivers and controller support shit, then set up the controller. I always preferred xbox controllers because you just plug them in and they instantly work, and they're also objectively the most ergonomic controllers

you can keep your CIA watchdog controller, i prefer to game like the old days. thank you microsoft for preserving boomer culture. also the wii's motion controls were horribly implemented and you are probably a zoomer and the wii was your first console if you have any sort of positive feelings towards that hunk of junk.

just with plug and play elements, it wins. Also almost every game for pc has xbox schemes in the options.

>I can only imagine the girly manlets DS4 was developed for.
they are called asians
