Call me a boomer? but I dont get the appeal of this game...

No, zoomer.
The game came out in 2007 though and has the brown visuals of the era
Just play Anomaly. Seriously
>Call me a boomer
No, faggot.
First couple hours are kinda jank but you get used to it.
The game opens up more after you encounter your first bloodsucker.
This
Most of the visuals are based on photographic content, so it's not just intentionally brown-colored. It's Chernobyl-colored. And the soviets didn't just paint everything in brown.
>play on the highest difficulty too. difficulty reduces dmg across the board, so on easy both you and the AI are using nerf guns while on the highest you're both using actual guns
This is actually incorrect and has been debunked years ago. Master difficulty has no effect on the player's ability to damage enemies, only on enemies' ability to damage the player.
How long did you play it? You're forgiven if you think early game sucks, your weapons/armour are awful and you can get your ass kicked by the starting soldiers (which you shouldn't antagonize if you don't know what you're doing). The next area is hardly better, plus you have to worry about environmental hazards at all times.
It does, however, get much more rewarding as you go further, particularly as you leave the surface.
>play on the highest difficulty too. difficulty reduces dmg across the board, so on easy both you and the AI are using nerf guns while on the highest you're both using actual guns
But that's wrong, see pic related. I'd still recommend playing on Master to get a hang on things (what's dumb, what's dangerous etc.).
>get much more rewarding as you go further
I'm not OP, but I was deeply disappointed by the later stages of the game.
I got to the other camp
The camp after the first one you start out in and I think it has some arena/fight club or something like that
No, you're right, it's pretty overrated.
I loved everything after 100 rad bar.
Get to 100 rad bar then, you can get much better loot from that point onwards, plus you can fight in the arena for dosh.
hmm maybe I'll start the game again. My pc died when I got to the second camp so I lost all progress
Help me with something, Yea Forums. In SoC, there's a bunch of anomalies in the junkyard that I can't get past. There are a few valuable artifacts lying behind the anomalies, but I just can't find a way around them.
Throw bolt a lot.
Its a boomer game.
You a zoomer was probably still in nappies during that time.
>tfw still no info on 2
lol so 2007 games are boomer now?
Boomer and Zoomer is about mindsets, not time.
Yes you fucking stupid nigger that was over a decade ago
So we just keep moving when zoomer starts?
Play Call of Chernobyl
Considering zoomer/boomer are analogous to young/old, yes
A 30 year old is a millennial not a boomer so there's no logic there either but that's how the meme goes
exactly
I'm pretty sure that most people who praise Stalker on Yea Forums haven't played it on release.
I did, it was the buggiest shit I've ever played, barely playable and a large portion of the map was simply skipped via cutscene, oddly enough.
However, I picked it up again years later and it was one of the best gaming experiences of my life.
what does that have to do with it being a 2007 game
>call me a boomer?
Boomer.
Next time put a comma or no punctuation at all. The questions marks make you sound like a 14 year old girl.
>barely playable
I played it perfectly fine on release. The game itself was mediocre. Not bad, but not even close to the level of expectations that devs were building for years. The game was called Ждaлкep for a reason.
No teenager having nostalgia for a 2007 game?
>игpaть в cтaлкep нa пиндocкoм
Пиздeц
Zoomers were little kids when it came out
You gotta think more relatively
Дa oни тyт coвceм ёбнyтыe.
nahuy idi russkiy pidoras
>zoomer pretends to be a boomer
Every... Time...
what do you want us to do about it retard
>Call me a boomer
how about you learn what words mean you stinky little fuck
That's even more boring that vanilla SoC.
OP: either start with Call of Pripyat, or install AMK. It will kick your ass and wear out your quickload key, but it's much more exciting.
It actually feels like you're cautiously exploring a dangerous, alien zone instead of playing a janky gopnik murder simulator.
moving goal post
Э, извиниcь
Cock and Cock derivatives progress too quickly. You can go from hobo mode to legend in a very short space of time. I think Anomaly mostly fixes this but I only played a bit of it. Thoroughly enjoyed it though.
Think New Arsenal 6 is the new fotm mod
What?
You really think 8 year olds were playing this shit in 2007?
I was actually 10 when it came out and 11 when I played it for the first time.
not him btw
Yet halo 3 is a zoomer gamer and came out the same year. Go away
The whole fucking boomer/zoomer meme is a moving goal post you brainlet
STALKER is a 2004 game released in 2007.
no
I thought it was enjoyable enough. It has a clear end-goal so it's not pure sandboxy Kenshi-shit, but still allows you to flail around aimlessly for a good part and exploring
Wasn't it a 2003 game though? That's when the beta leak happened and the game didn't change pretty much at all after that. Don't get me wrong, it still looked amazing for 2003 standards and it's still crazy that it could do multicore processing.
The most famous STALKER build 1935 is from October 2004 and it's one of the most complete builds, as in with shitloads of content that had to be cut.
>
The only flaw of this game is a fragmentation of the Zone into smaller locations separated by loading screens.
I miss Tribes
Yep
Considering how troubled the development was I am surprised it was received that well, especially in the modding community.
X-Ray engine will be forever shit though.
The team that split from GSC to go to 4k games and make Metro only showed that they never had a direction with their game. Both games are complete shit.
Does anyone know where to find archived Stalker promotional material from way back? One of the first official gameplay videos I ever saw of the game was of the player exploring what I think was the Bar area in the middle of the night with a flashlight and wielding a Groza rifle, and the video ended with him fighting off an onslaught of mutant rats.
The very first video I saw was a weapons test in a target practice area. That video is gone too and nowhere to be found online. Both videos were released in 2003 or 2004.
>I don’t get this boomer game
>So, just call me a boomer
Fuck off you little zoom zoom piece of shit. You’re not cool and I bet you did even play on Master or look at any mods like AMK.
Except I did, was in high school when Shadow of Chernobyl came out. In fact, I liked the game my brother showed me so much I bought his pc for cheap and kept playing it. Stalker got me into pc gaming beyond playing 3DO games like Army Men back in 99.
Just download some early development builds from 2001-2005.
The only one I remember was the thermal imagery from a Hind as this dude was running around shooting an AK as zombies and snorks ran at him, eventually the stalker gets caught and torn apart/eaten as the pilot is heard throwing up in the cockpit as he witnesses the horror.
I remember the rat-one, it wasn't gameplay though, it was pre-rendered IIRC
Well they did a shitty job at pre-rendering then because I remember it looking exactly like ingame footage. Who the hell pre-renders anything in a way that exactly replicates the limitations of realtime rendering? That's like animating a flipbook but coming up with unintelligible scribbles or nothing because you have 0.04 seconds to draw each frame.
I always liked this one
youtube.com
The combat is a fucking MESS. But it's NOWHERE near as bad as Clear Sky's bullshit.
The reason you play a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game is the atmosphere and the setting.
>тpaнcлит
>жaбa
Eбaл тeбя в poт
>NOWHERE near as bad as Clear Sky's bullshit.
You enjoying the bleed and invincibility stagger bro?
Shadow of Chernobyl just exists to hone your reflexes and survival skills for Clear Sky.
fyi Stalker was originally supposed to have horrific mutant wild horses
>tried vanilla
Boring, ugly and easy
>try AMK
lmao get oneshot from 150m by a lowtier silent ninja bandit with a PM
>try Dead Air
Beautiful, but way too slow and still not quite fair, buggy and unbalanced
>try Anomaly
wtf, I now like Stalker. Bad performances and kind of ugly though, which is a real surprise considering it's a new modern engine from my understanding
Will stalker 2 be good?
>invincibility stagger
So THAT'S what that was. Fuck
>Bad performances and kind of ugly though, which is a real surprise considering it's a new modern engine from my understanding
Bad performances exist because of the A.I Life, you simply can't avoid the fart that is the X-Ray engine, so whenever it stutters it's because the game has to also move the NPCs in their respective regions despite you being a whole map away.
I doubt it. None of the original devs are left, and the people currently at GSC thought making a stalker battle royale game was a good idea
> finding mission was confusing
it is just f-ing open world. and not even that "open" as typical open world.
Play Call of Misery. Puts Dark Souls to shame.
Reminder to everyone in freedom.
How much % of Misery's difficulty is a static thing that the player can account for with their own skill?
But the other big mods like Dead Air still has the full A-life simulation right? Yet they still run better and sometimes looks better.
It's a great feature anyway though, so whatever, it's just that I was surprised
They really do put the REE in FREEDOM
you are a child, a baby. You need colorful baby colors like overwatch. A piece of shit coated in many bright colors is what you eat every day. You are a sad indiviual...
I'm sorry user but you suffer from incurable shittaste disease which might be contagious. better kill yourself asap.
>t. Yea Forums babby
It's not really invincibility but more insane damage resistance. Go for headshots once they stagger.
I think no mod ever managed to remove that retarded feature.
I didn't even remember that feature existing because it went so deep into my muscle memory to kill all enemy stalkers by staggering them and executing staggered ones with headshots.
Is English not your first language, or are you just a fucking retard?
>play against aimbotting enemies while your health continuously drains with no pickups in sight
gee, what fun
It has great atmosphere but yeah combat feels too archaic.
fpbp, justice has been served
>brown is based
