But you don't need to play the others when the focus is on Charlemange, the newly introduced Saber, and the Glossary will catch you up to speed for anything contextual from the prequels. Much more playable than Extella from a musou perspective, although it's not as VN heavy.

I’m honestly fine with the sprites with mouth flapping this time around vs. the janky cutscenes with the in-game models we got in the first game. At least it made the moments where they did actually use the in-game models in cutscenes stand out more like the NP spam with Arjuna and Karna.

It's okay. It's a lot better than Extella was but that only elevates it to about the same level as your average musou. Unless you have any real interest in the characters you'd be as well picking any other musou (or Basara if you want to get your CRAZY on) that have characters you already like over it.
