Metro: Exodus managed to put up some impressive sales numbers despite the widespread backlash against Deep Silver's decision to move Metro: Exodus from Steam to the Epic Games Store and cries of "no steam, no sale". The game sold 2.5 times as much as its predecessor, Metro: Last Light did on Steam. As a test case it's good news for Epic and the developers itching to move off of Steam.

Both LL and 2033 are relatively niche single player horror action games, and were not marketed much at all.
Exodus got an E3 reveal, RTX and DLSS support, extensive media coverage, and ticks the pseudo-open world box that qualifies it to be a AAA game in current year. It's also a lot more forgiving, and focused on action elements over horror and atmosphere.
Would've done better if it launched on steam too though.

it's probably counting Last Light 'not redux" edition and in remote period which is not a big thing to achieve. No real numbers shown so it's probably a manipulation to attract more normalfags and indietards to Epic Store.
This entire quote is getting misstated by every two-bit gaming "blogger", Youtuber and outlet. Exodus sold 2.5x the copies as Last Light did, in the same window of time. Specifically it's first month of sales, not lifetime, and just on PC. Last Light's launch sales were reportedly underwhelming, and the majority of the 2m+ sales on Steam came from Steam sales over the years. Stop falling for Marketing PR 101, you dumbfucks.
