It's not as bad as everyone makes out. It's a relatively low-effort/slightly clunky third person shooter set after Advent Children. The CGI aren't bad, and the story is a mixed bag, but I never understood the hate. I enjoyed seeing the FFVII locations in PS2 era (current at the time) graphics, worth the price of admission alone, and it let us spend more time with Vincent and even Yuffie. We even briefly get to see a Cloud that has recovered from his AC self.
