it's funny, i had the opposite problem. i found it really hard to limit all my favorite characters down to just a 3x3.
for me, it's all about having likeable personalities and/or interesting backstories. i cheated a bit by including beelzemon since his character arc in tamers is a big reason why he became one of my favorites, but fuck it, he's in all of digimon's games, he counts.
